I wasn't kidding about the horrible sunburn... but I climb my first "real" mountain a week ago! There are a few pics on my Instagram: instagram.com/tomfrankly/ ...also, never forget to bring sunscreen to a mountain. Also, this video was edited by my friends over at the Boss Level 8 channel. You can check out their stuff here: ru-vid.com
Please keep your face moisturized and use a mild scrub when the redness has gone down. Also, drink a ton of water. And from now on, please wear sunscreen EVERY DAY, MOUNTAIN OR NOT. Seriously, the only reason you shouldnt wear sunscreen is if you dont leave your house for that day, whether it's summer or winter.
Vitamin C (1000mg - 2000mg) and topical vitamin E can both really help with sunburn recovery. Taking high dose vitamin C (2000mg) can also help with prickly heat.
Great video! I've been working remote for a tech-startup in New York for almost a year now while matching that income through blogging and I can't get over how cool it is to have so much flexibility. I know I've thanked you in the past, but if it weren't for College Info Geek I'd have never started my blog, and if it weren't for starting my blog I'd have never been offered my job. I owe a lot to you and it makes me so happy to see all of your success!
Good to see a comment from you, Morgan! I remember seeing your original comment on my website guide and watching your blog explode since then. You make great stuff, and I'm really glad it's worked out so well. And I get your Teachable emails every week :)
Same, i've built website that can generate a great deal of passive income for me, while having very small expenditures. It allows me to travel and just have my "office" on my laptop.
I'm always impressed by how insightful you are! My biggest reservation with starting my own blog is not having content that will be beneficial to people. You are truly inspiring! God bless.
I'm so happy that someone made this video. I've believed in working to travel for a long time, although a little differently than you. I don't like paying to travel, so I get jobs in New cities that I want to visit instead of just traveling for a few weeks. I hate taking time off work, so I love working in places I want to go so I can just take off one day a week (like Saturday) to visit great places. Right now I'm living in Chicago making really good money, and having a great time with the city :) thanks for getting this idea out there.
I'm a freelance journalist since 2015 and I spent over a year traveling and working at the same time (Budapest was my favorite city, btw!). Sometimes I'd even juggle volunteer work with freelancing and, of course, tourism. And guess what? I still learned a lot with this video. Thank you, Thomas! :)
Living in Budapest doesn't feel that cheap if you are a local. Not that I want to discourage anyone from visiting. It's just that our currency is really shitty and jobs don't pay all that well. If you come from a western country with a minimum wage, you can live like a king here. Plus the city is beautiful (yes I do have a bias)
Yes I know what you are saying, I'm Mexican and I can say the same about Mexico. Though if you come from San Francsico, LA, NYC, London, Toronto, Sydney, Tokyo or something, you are in for a real treat. Even in the US, someone that comes from California and moves to Idaho will feel that Idaho is really cheap, but I live there and I don't see it as such, the people from California that move to another state would sell their homes, get a lot of money to move out, buy a much nicer and larger home in another state, and still have a lot of money left over.
Really liked this video! Definitely working on transitioning my work to allow more travel. I'm out of college but I'm glad you have relevant content for those of us who have graduated and trying to "adult" as they say. XD
Glad you found it helpful! I'm trying to create a good mix of student-focused content and stuff that's universally applicable, especially since I'm not getting any closer to my student days :P
I'm a researcher, and I've started to wonder over the past few months if it would be possible to do academic work nomadically... So, thank you for these very useful tips! Just what I needed right now!
The prioritization part is so tru!u always meet ppl who make excuses of not having the money to advance and yet they waste thier money on things that arent important and will tell u that u need to live a little. These are the same ppl who tell u u r cheap and yet ask borrow money lately.
Your videos are high-quality Thomas, thanks for the info! One of my goals is to become a digital nomad, so right now I'm working towards improving my portable skills. I really wish the U.S. was part of the "Youth Mobility" visa scheme though, which would make it much easier for me to work in the U.K. and stay with my boyfriend. :/
I've been so grateful to have a location independent business during all this crazIness, but I can't wait to start traveling again! Loved that you highlighted having portability skills
Really inspired about this video. We are at the first steps of making videos for youtube and this whole thing begins all because I really love travel. Wanted to mention that I have a big desire to know whole the world, other cultures and to experience those thing that for a long time were a dream for me. Not to much money for exploring and still a beginner of youtube, but really a great desire to share with other people what I see. I hope one day to reach more viewers. Please feel free to know and support us. Love u all
great stuff! i am working on it, already one year in and it really takes time and dedication. my offer to the world is to show everyone how i did it from 0 to a million. right now i am still at the lower 5% but everything documented on my channel. so thanks for the tips and info you give away for free man!
I would say one of your most useful videos to date (or at least that I've seen). Gives some real insight into the realities of doing what it seems everybody wants to be doing!
Awesome video Tom, I really liked naming all the resources like Jet and Woof, they seem helpful for when I set out on a trip I've been planning for a while
This video is full of invaluable insights. Long time I had these questions, and got it all answered, and now my head is boiling with ideas of where do I live next again.
Great timing, I am currently in a situation where I can probably agree with my employer to work from a different country. I've been reading about regulations and tax policies for weeks now and my head hurts and I only feel more and more confused. THAT is what I would like to know how digital nomads, travelling freelancers and similar people handle. When people advertise this lifestyle they make it seem so easy and effortless. And then BAM bureaucracy.
Your post is an entire 4 years old, however, I'm reaching out to see if you ever figured all of this out? I'm a remote (work from home) employee trying to figure out how to be location independent...legally :)
Got that MBA book. First recommendation of yours I'm gonna read and as someone who's planning on getting his MBA some day, I hope it's a worthwhile read.
Hello, I subscribed about a year ago and I've clicked this video to check you out again. I see that you gained a significant amount of subs and gained popularity. Good job! I hope you get even more successful, because your content is actually useful.
hey Thomas! you really are a big inspiration..... in India we've just started our new semester and your video helped me managing some stuff!! I want you to make few videos on how to manage time to get everything done at the right time and being a student, "how to MANAGE & SAVE MONEY" which is really very tough in my personal opinion..and a detailed description on the concept of scholarships... love from India
Who cares what other people say or think? If you really wanna do it then you’re gonna find a way to make it work don’t let ignorant people control your life.
Hi Thomas. I love your videos. I travel regularly with my acting and music jobs, so I have that Travel part down. I love the ideas your presented. I got a TESOL certificate a few years ago and have been able to get English teaching jobs in many different locations when I was between theater gigs or even on days off. Thanks for all that you offer.

Since i want to try this, this is the perfect episode right now 😁😁🤘🤘 Thank you Thomas!!!
That is a really great video! Thank you so much Thomas :) It just proves that there is a ton of different options so If you really want to do something then only excuses can hold you back from doing it 😀
While in my career I can't work remotely, I read a few books on this topic, and for sure your video was very informative to anyone who wants to work remotely
Waiting for your morning routine everv since you uploaded your "how to create a morning routine" but imma still be patient cause your contents are golden! thank you for inspiring me to be a better student ;)
Thanks for the patience! It's going to be a very different kind of video, and I ended up running into a couple setbacks that prevented me from finishing it when I wanted to. I'm on business trip this week and then at VidCon next week, so I'll probably have to finish it after that.
Hi Thomas, big fan of your videos. I'm about to attend university and thinking about buying an iPad Pro to use as my main device for taking notes. However, a part of me still believes that getting a laptop would be a more viable option. Perhaps you can make a video one day talking about the pro's and con's of using a tablet or a laptop for note-taking? I already know that you have a video about note-taking on paper vs. on a computer, but it would be interesting to see your view on taking notes on a tablet.
For people with minimal skills, work experience, or the fortitude to start your own business get a job working for a fundraising company that'll allow you to work from "home". There are plenty of them in the U.S. and they'll hire anyone. Set up a car that's livable, get a good cell phone, get a laptop, mobile hotspot and your can travel constantly. Just park your car and male calls when your scheduled.
It'd be cool to hear your take on the common critique (and my personal biggest gripe with) the Tim Ferriss approach to life as espoused in this video: for him, it seems that the purpose of a vocation is just to earn money and the *content* of one's work doesn't matter, which is how one ends up with his whole "e-commerce supplement sales at a mark-up" type of business plan. But what if one wants to do work that has more meaning than enabling one's hedonistic urges? e.g. most any private firm producing anything of any value, governments, financial sector, ngo's, etc. [i.e. most organizations] - is it possible to engage in (part-time) nomadism if one does not work in the creative / software sectors without having to give up all sense of occupational integrity?
Awesome video as always Tom, lots of great info so thank you! Btw, are you going to create an article based on this video? I think it could help sharing and keeping all these resources. Also, keep it up man! Amazing work
Your from denver! Sko buffs let's go Rockies, and who cares about the Broncos but still rocky mountain living! I cant believe you live in the same state as me thats so cool. Dont worry I don't want to meet up but its dope we are in the same state. Enjoy the Colorado life!!
The thing that always puzzled me about the digital nomad lifestyle is the question of visas, and I've still yet to find a good resource for that subject :/
You could try looking to see if there's a list of countries that don't require a visa for travelers from your country - perhaps there's somewhere you could go without one :)
Great video. I don't think I could give up something like retro computer/games collecting or something like hobby electronics to travel the world, but that type of work is not for me anyway. When I grow up (I'm 14), I'm probably going to try freelance work and see how it goes.
@@least341 I didnt, but i still wanna do it. Im attending a university atm, but working as a barista still seems like a good option. After all this corona mess, of course.
please can you make a video about how much do you get from YT and from the sponsors and if you can live from that. if you don't mind talking about money & business
GabakUSA Free computer training i think google will ban your adsense account of you disclose your ads income. different niche have different rates, also depend on their user engagement, location, etc. sometimes you could earn $1 - $2 per 1000 views. most youtuber usually have another income stream such as affiliate earning (promoting other people product), merch like shirt, selling books/course, etc.
Have you ever thought of touring and meeting people like M&G and holding like "shows" where you can talk about any subject you like in your field or your own experience or anything (or maybe promoting your book and selling signed copies)..? I think it would be so fun and wonderful +some cash never hurt anyone😌
Thomas Frank Thank you so much for replying, you made my day😊 That's some good news! I love live streams! Plus we're with you along the way💪 Plus now that summer is here, I will get a physical copy of your book shipped ( even though I got it for free but I prefer paperback) plus I finally have the time to binge listen to your podcasts!!
you would not believe how difficult it was not to swipe this video closed. it must be the first video in months that I watch in its entirety. how about you pay me for doing all the stuff you do while I sit here and meditate.
What about trading? Making 6% a month is a realistic goal, if you can save 25,000 dollars you can trade futures, a centralized market in Chicago right from your laptop, and there is no counter party risk. 1,500 dollars a month is enough to make a living in alot of countries.
Hey! A lot of people, including me, struggle with trying to improve/fix ourselves using these techniques while still accepting our shitty aspects. Since you teach a lot about self improvement it would be interesting to know what's your take on this self acceptance vs self improvement paradox. Regards
yeahhh my want to travel the world is definitely not supported heavily by my love of working in engineering at manufacturing plants. Although hopefully I will one day get a job where I could get transferred somewhere cool :)
Regarding teaching english in another country, do you have to know that country’s language? Or are you teaching intermediate classes where they can already speak english?
At least for Japan, many people who go teach English are not fluent in Japanese. AFAIK it’s not a requirement to get the job, and you can function fairly well in most areas in Japan without knowing much of the language. Not sure about other counties though.
