Loch Enoch is a multi-basin freshwater loch in Galloway, to the east of Merrick and south of Mullwharchar. The loch is situated in a granite basin and has several small islands and some beaches on its shore.
Greetings munro stomper. I enjoyed your video thank you. The memorial is to Thomas Withers, who was a member of the Ayr and Kilmarnock hill walking club. I met him several times in the 1970's in the Galloway Hills (at least twice at Loch Enoch) and when staying at White Laggan bothy, shortly after it opened in 1971. He was a lovely man and we got talking about motorbikes. He was retired at that stage and wanting to sell his beautiful BSA A10 650 cc bike with sidecar. I would have loved it but couldn't afford the insurance as I was a student at the time. I visited him at home in Catrine (I think) to see the bike and we had a great chat. I last met him in the hills about 1978. PS I camped with friends on the ground behind the beach near the memorial in 1970.
Thanks for that Douglas it’s much appreciated. You have an amazing memory….i on the other hand forget what I went up the stairs for 🤣😂 White Laggan is still in good order however I was at blackhill of bush bothy the other week and so one has set one of the rooms on fire.
Really enjoyed that. Wind blowing from the north. Ruins the loch Colin. It fishes best when its howling from the south. Great video lad. Keep them comin👍
@@munrostomper2325 aye it sure is. Your carryin alot of gear to lad. Theres nothin wrong with your fitness paddlin all over the loch after doin that hike. Your doin really well. Next time your goin up try time it for a good dull day and a south or southwest blowin wind. 15mph+. It fishes amazing. Once ye get into the fly you wont look back👍
Nice video,but not much action,,watched the hillfishers 2 videos ,about 5yrs ago,1 fly and one spinning and he was catchingloads of fish both videos.this boy is well equipped for the hillslove the wee boat, boy should have had a barrafa.
Some amount of kit to carry up there bud 😂 Been up merrick loads but still to decend by the lochs. Will have to give them a cast or two, love the daiwa ninja gear BTW 👌👌
Yeah it’s getting heavier every year 😂. Some cracking wee lochs up there defo worth a cast. Aye it’s good quality, just wish I could keep a hold of it for longer than two trips….keep losing or braking them.
