🏅 I just returned from the Loch Ness Marathon with a new personal best, and I couldn’t be happier! After months of dedicated training, my goal was to break 2:55 for a Good for Age qualifying time at the 2025 London Marathon - and the result was even better than I could’ve hoped for! 🙌 In this video, I’ll share a quick update about the race, the stunning Scottish scenery, and how everything came together for an unforgettable marathon.
From fueling strategies to tackling tough hills, this race tested me to the limit. I’ve got tons of GoPro footage to edit and will release a full race vlog soon. Stay tuned for more videos covering my race-day nutrition, gear reviews, and more. Make sure to like, subscribe, and hit the bell so you don’t miss out! 🏃‍♂️
📊 Key Stats:
Finish time: Stay tuned for the full vlog!
Halfway split: 81 minutes
Final placement: 20th overall, 5th in age group
More to come soon! 🎥

Absolutely stoked for you mate - if there is anyone who trains hard, put in the hard yards, its PKS - these results were created by your tenacious and relentless pursuit of greatness.. London 2025 I see you running faster

Brilliant run Paul! I found your channel from your Manchester video and thought it was great as someone who shares a lot of the struggles you mentioned in that video. I also ran the Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday and found the hills to be absolute killers. My training block was a complete disaster with multiple injuries and illnesses and I got ill a few days before the race too which just made it feel like something was telling me not to do this run haha. Thinking of doing a flat Marathon next so tempted to book Newport for my next one as I did that one last year and found it to be very flat.

I’ve heard brilliant things about Newport - I think it would make a nice change to the hills of Scotland! Hopefully you’ve found peace through running-it’s such an essential part of my mental health toolkit!

Very inspiring, well done. Enjoy your content and delivery, have subscribed and will explore your other video's. I 'm doing Amsterdam in a couple of weeks, also hoping for a pb, much slower than yours though!

Thanks so much - that’s so encouraging to hear! You’ll see I’ve been on quite the journey. Good luck with Amsterdam. What time are you aiming for? Come find me on Strava and I’ll give you a follow so I can see your progress 😊

Well done!! Incredible time. This was my first marathon. Ended up doing it in 3:51 which I’ll take, but have no frame of reference for the course difficulty- so it’s good to hear your take. Those hills on the second half really took it out of me.

That's an incredible time on what genuinely was a tough course... mile 18-20 were ghastly and the lack of support was fairly soul destroying!! What's your next race? You're obviously a good runner, so hopefully there will be another one 😊

Thanks sir - Couldn’t agree more, still really enjoyed the experience and happy to break 4h, though I’d like to do a sub 3:30 on my next marathon. I’ll definitely go again, just considering which one to focus on next, are there UK races you’d recommend for Q1 2024?

Great run and time. I got my PB as well as it was my first Marathon 😂. Was a tough course imo.

Hahaha a pb on a first marathon is definitely something to be celebrated!! The key question is, will you do another one? There are DEFINITELY much easier courses out there!! Look forward to hearing what’s next for you 🙌🏼

@pksruns My pleasure! I'm a 2:20:51 marathon (1992) who retired from running in 1997. I found racewalking in 2020, during Covid, and now, as a 67 year old, I am National champion (Canada) for my age group. After a well deserved 2 weeks off, except for my core strengthening work, I will be training for the National championships (Canada) next summer on the track for 5000m racewalk. All the best with your running. I can see a sub 2:40 in you within a year - Make sure to take a well deserved down time.

oh WOW! That's an incredible time, and I'm going to assume without all of the tech and advances in nutrition so I'm blown away with that time! Sounds like the race walking is a great transition out of running - I'm assuming you're probably faster than my 10k time! Let me know if you ever fancied being interviewed on the channel - would love to hear from a Marathon legend 😊

@pksruns those are very kind words, and I appreciate it - I'm not sure if I would call myself a legend, though, but thank you so much.
