Have you used the trend lock jig? Just wondering how this compares to it.. could I use this with the set up I have for the hinge jig or would I have to change the router bit etc
Hi Ryan, I have tried the trend hinge jig. I bought it as soon as it came out. But I didn’t like the fact that it’s set out from the middle of the faceplate and not the spindle. Also all of the plates that are needed. This jig has the advantage of cutting the spindle, through holes and key hole types as well. Have a look on Facebook. There are some there that have them already and like them.
it's the same setup as the hinge jig, 12mm cutter and a 16mm guide bush. You could also use a 12mm cutter and a 17mm guide bush, just use a 5mm spacer instead of a 4mm spacer in setting up.
My apologies for the late reply, most Poe-le using these jigs use a 1/4“ router and they are fine with this jig. You wouldn’t be able to do the mortise with a 1/4” though. Even with a 1/2” router they don’t make a cutter long enough to do the full depth of the lock. Most use the Souber.
Hi, do you need 2 separate jigs for say a bathroom mortise lock and an architectural mortise lock, or does 1 jig cover both? What size guide bush and cutter is required? How much is the jig to buy? Thanks Danny
Hi Danny, one jig will do all but you would need to change the lock type plates. You use a 12mm long reach cutter with either a 16mm guide bush(4mm spacer) or a 17mm guide bush(5mm spacer). Are you on Facebook? There are videos on setup and other vids. Look for B W Jigs
@@benweir8173 OK I'll give it a look. That's handy, 16mm guide bush 12mm cutter is the same set up for the hinge jig so saves all the faffing about switching stuff over👍
The jigs have a 32mm thrust pad housed into the jig on the inside that spreads the pressure. Quite a few users of the jig have worked on pre finished doors and haven’t had any problems.
Hi, the jigs are out of stock until the 22nd. They cost £415 + vat. They come with 3mm spacers, Euros and Bath Privacy plates. If you would like one send me your contact details to info@bw-jigs.com and I’ll send you a PayPal invoice. Delivery normally takes up to two days. Let me know if I can help further.
Many have said this and I’m still waiting to set a video😂😂 I have seen some fit a lock in 6-7 mins using an mdf jig for a faceplate and drills for spindles and bath privacy’s for the finish looked like a rat had been chewing at it but I haven’t seen it done by hand in that time. Also where this jig comes into its own is on Euro cylinders.
This jig is completely pointless since you have to do mortice with other tool anyway. If you are using this only for face plate you might as well use router with side fence and router bit sized same as width of plate. Not sure if this is sponsored or not but the price tag on this jig is an absolute joke
Hi Lukas, sorry you don't like the jig, not for everyone I suppose. but the jig doesn't only do the faceplate. it also does the spindle, through bolts and a range of different keyhole types like euro cylinders as well. Although you use something else to do the mortise there is still no quicker way. It takes a minuet to do the mortise and 3 mins to do the rest. ideal for price work.
