@@ZillaBlitz I'm interested to watch this because I'd like to do much the same with my Pub Battles channel. In Pub Battles the rules are very simple, but the subtle mechanics interplay take some getting used to.
@@SoloBattles I've realized too that we can fold in tactical tips as well. The first episode doesn't have real rules mistakes, but there are a couple of tactical points that came up.
This is a really great idea Mike! Your reviews and playthroughs are always excellent, so I'm sure the content will be very interesting and instructive. I'm looking forward to this series.
This will be great, I don’t have LnL WW2 games, I have the Falklands but the core rules are the same and also bought the solo (I play solo as no oppo for military style games in the house) - just never managed to get on with it, will eagerly await your vlogs to help get this game back to the table.
Most excellent! I hope it proves helpful, and let me know if there are things you would like to see played out. I have some ideas for a progression, but I'm really only looking 1 or 2 scenarios ahead at this point. :)
I really like lock n load tactical and looking forward to this series. Been trying to learn it well enough to teach someone else but having trouble. Not because it's difficult, just because I don't have much wargame experience beyond Nations At War
Such a great approach to learning a system. Looking forward to the series! I have been thinking about picking up another ww2 game so im interested to see if this system really pulls me in.
Thanks Tony! I think this sort of approach might work for a lot of deeper games, and I'm hoping that I'll learn about the process of creating something like this as well. A couple of ideas have come up already (mini-rules tutorials built in, and tactical tips), but I can think of a bunch of games this might work well for, and the nice thing is that it spreads the learning out for the creator as well. It's kind of intimidating for me to make a video about a complex system from the start, as it's really hard to execute the videos at a high level as you are learning the game at the same time. This way I can learn and review rules in chunks and fold them in. I can see already that it's made the process more fun for me. :)
It might be worth noting that LNLP offers a starter kit includes two scenarios from the Heroes of Normandy game and two senarios from the Heroes of Nam game. It's a good and relatively inexpensive way for those who may be interested to try out the LNL tactical system without having to fully commit to buying a full game.
I hope you like it! If you have particular questions or areas you want me to talk about/explore, feel free to fire away. If there aren't a lot of errors in a particular video, I'll likely start a new video with a mini-tutorial about a particular mechanic.
@@ZillaBlitz thank you and will do, I think you should do some one on one game tutorial coaching as a side hustle ! I’d pay for something like that! I am really poor at rule comprehension.
@@ZillaBlitz not a thing…yet,, in my case I would do it , I play lot of solitaire and learn better by someone who knows the system and can ask questions,,interactions, more like wargame training wheels!
Oh, great! Feel free to fire away with questions and whatnot, or areas that you are finding hard to understand. If there aren't a lot of errors in a particular video, I'll likely start a new video talking about a particular mechanic, or include more focus on that mechanic is a video.
Interesting play through as the Germans take something of a crushing defeat, although with some favourable die rolls might have been different. Looking forward to future episodes.
Yes, I kind of want to play again off camera to try some different ideas and see if I can get a win as the Germans. It's a pretty decent training exercise, even without the support weapons. :)
