A magnet could also work. However, after hearing details about the Uvalde tragedy, my door will just remain locked all the time if the class is in the room. A magnet will only be used when we're going to and from somewhere as a class. It will be annoying to have to open and close the door all the time when kids ask to use the RR or to get a drink, but having that door locked already is one less thing I would have to worry about if the unthinkable occurs. Further steps can also be taken, such as putting something in the triangle hinge of the door or looping something from the door handle to the wall. There's three things that will make it far more difficult for an intruder to get into your room.
I guess schools do not allow doors to be locked from the inside? I never thought about that. The only other place I can think of where this may happen is in a prison. Hmmmm
