my civics teacher uses your videos at the end of every lesson. i find these helpful a lot and i'm literally watching them all because i have the EOC tomorrow 😂
From this video, I've learned much more about Locke and his idea of a "social contract" such as the idea that the social contract involves giving up the right to do things that would place others in danger and etc as a way to provide security for all citizens. -Eduardo Alvarez ( period 7 Ap Gov)
So Montesquieu talks about Christianity as important for enlightenment and you say that religion is superstition, unless you mean that people claiming to be christians were only in fact superstitious and thus controlled easily by the new government forming, who were enlightened by reasoning of those considering holy writings, I think it's all about to what extent thinkers were able to influence those greedy for power so that they are caught up in their own political cunning and continuously behave with mannerisms. But I don't know why people love founding fathers and nation more than reasoning and driving force behind it all which was enlightenment. Being nationalistic is admiring rulers and power which a country hold, enlightenment was about being able to reason on your own, even if you did not have the backing of an influential family, nobility, worth, and could not afford education. Governments have evolved a lot over time with different tricks adapted to the crowds, but they are still the same "born leaders" using whatever resources and means necessary to do what they do best
Why is it considered "The Enlightenment" if America was using Montesques triune government model to pass Lockean social policy that facilitated the most brutal slavery that the world has seen still til this day? These theories formed the basis for American government's structure. But that's really all it did. That's not that enlightened
i love this video! It has helped me so much with my civics eoc ❤ my civics teacher passed away a few months beforehand and wasn’t able to teach us everything… 😂❤
