Something about GRAD is just intimidating to me. From its ability to be an absolute tank to endless barrage of bullets and missiles. An absolute asshole to fight against
IMO, the GRAD is by far the most realistically effective of all the Metal Gear attack robots. Upon trying Revengeance mode, I got locked in a room with 2 GRADS who spammed stun-locking rocket attacks... IN A ROOM FULL OF EXPLOSIVES.
Surprisingly, I found Revengeance far easier than Very Hard. Likely due to my prior experience beforehand, and understanding their attack patterns very well... Trust me on this, the Wooden Blade and Mistral's Pole will save your ass. Wooden Blade will do some side damage to lower them to 10% as you get parrys, while Mistral's pole does the same. When the GRAD starts to fire missiles at you, slide under it and unleash hell with the pole. Make sure to get at least three perfect parry's, where you'll then be able to deal a little more damage to kill it at 10%. If you get 4 perfect parry's, good for you.
@@Averi0, as far as I know, Revengeance was meant to be the easyest difficulty in the game due to players skill, bought abilities and one parry update: you can almost one-shot everyone with a perfect parry, as the hardest part is Armstrong on Very Hard
I honestly love the GRAD design, concept and gameplay-wise (imagine *this* being in MGS 2 and 4) _especially_ when it falls flat on its ass when you style on it super hard. Never ceases to crack me up.
+TheBadwolf007 ouch :O had to fight Armstrong with no repair packs on normal and it was a bitch to beat but i found it easy after some time studying his attacks...
Oh my god... Those chills though, man. Every time I hear that scream, "RULES OF NATURE!", the chills are real. I have goosebumps right now just listening to this.
Oh come on, the GRAD isn't the worst boss. That would be the Hammerhead. At least the GRAD is rather badass when its flinging a veritable storm of projectiles at you, the Hammerhead on the other hand has no cool attacks and is far easier
Klik'ssi Ikub'ra I honestly don't even consider the Hammerhead a boss, lol. It's usually dead in a matter of seconds when I play, whether it's on a fresh game or revisiting a chapter. So if we're considering that a boss too, then yeah, Hammerhead's probably the most forgettable boss, but if not, I still think the GRAD is lowest on the list.
***** True, that entire level is kind of lame. I think the Grad should have stayed in tank mode the entire time so it could fire all of its weapons at the same time constantly while sliding around.
+Manek Iridius I don't remember Hammerhead, at least not a boss in the way you are descr- wait. Is it that thing on the way to Mr. Memes(Monsoon)? Oh god, I feel like such a dumbass. When I first played the game, I had NO IDEA how to get to it. ;-;
Persoally never saw him as a boss..Sure,he was one big armed U.G,but he did not give off the same threat vibes as the Ray or Bladewolf did. He was just..eh,he was just a regular enemy with awesome music.
Fiend Matador Slayer of a Thousand Noobs being strictly technical, BOTH *BLADE WOLF* AND *HAMMERHEAD* ARE SUB- BOSSES since they are not the final bosses of their stage (that one is Mistral). GRAD is a boss since he is the final boss of its stage . Doesnt matter if it doesnt talk or if it doesnt have his own unique lyric theme, since he has a LIFE BAR and is faced at the LAST PART OF THE STAGE, he IS a boss
@@mikeg8876 well, the only reason beside it is a boss in its first appearence, it is because maybe the later ones are from *different color* LOL ,the same as Blade Wolf's non AI models and the Mistral/Monsoon extra store bodies...
I feel like this is what can be op in a city combat. Able to slide rapidly, shoot bullets and missiles and to turn into a turret. Truly the trouble to deal with
I remember hearing locked and loaded in this battle, but all the footage of this fight online has rules of nature. Kinda made me think i was mad there for a sec. Must have patched it out because locked and loaded isnt as cool or something
I wish they would reworked Locked and Loaded as GRAD’s theme like this remix implies. I like Rules of Nature but I still don’t know why they changed it in the first place.
The GRAD boss fight was the fight I figured out that I didn't have to be tactical in this game, and can just spam the sword attack button. I died a lot trying to hang back, take cover, and look for an opening.
got trapped in a room with 2 grads in revengeance difficulty with nothing but an hf blade and 3 pastes. i beat them and made it through the story and into the armstrong fight. just before the actual fight had started, i had used all my pastes and, still equipped with nothing but an hf blade, promptly quit the game for the rest of time
@@toolazytomakeaname1341 it was at this stage? I just remember that I had one with it's first appearance as a boss and after that I started to see two of them in regular fights as a standart enemies like those gekko or something like that. And yeah, it was in normal and hard modes.
Thanks! And I'm working on a second version of The Only Thing I Know for Real as we speak. As soon as that's done, I'll finally be able to mix It Has To Be This Way. They should both be up by the end of this coming weekend, as long as I stay on schedule. :)
I hated this boss. I used all of my EMP's and missiles on it, did a run-around several times, and STILL died on several occasions. Though I must say - Ripper mode makes this fight a joke.
Unless you fight on Very Hard; then there's 2 of them at once and unless you always move to keep one of them behind the other you will get constantly juggled by their missiles. They DO let you Zandatsu the second one so there's a big incentive to not split damage, but they look identical so you literally have to never take your eyes off of both of them.
***** Here's the easy way: Buy and equip Mistral's pole arm/spear/thing and all the upgrades you can get as soon as you buy it. Just spam Triangle/Y until you can chop the bastard to ribbons.
***** I'm guessing you were playing on Revengeance difficulty? What I'd guess happened is you parry-countered one of the GRAD's melee swipes; on Revengeance enemy damage is massively buffed and Raiden's damage reduced, but parry-counters do damage based on the damage of the enemy attack that you parried.
Probably just because it has less lines LOCKED AND LOADED LET THE MERCURY RISE ON UP AS IT BOILS IN MY BLOOD ALIVE! I SWEAR I'LL TEAR AT THE SEAMS 'TILL YOU COME UNDONE something about taking saving and sipping up mercury for the next fight
Most irritating boss to beat in s rank in revengeance besides monsoon, clon monsoon and mistral duo, because he's tank as hell, the arena is close quarters and has the help from a less health version of him. 🗿
You should make another collective concius mix nased around the sam armstrong fight in the dlc. And your remixes are good, and the it has to be this way mix must include the words "nanomachines son"
Thanks! And I will think about doing both. Collective Consciousness was my first mix, so it's up there on the list of mixes needing re-doing. It's honestly not very different than the OST version for Sam's DLC, but I'll see if I can make it sound a little different. As for including "Nanomachines, son"...we'll see, we'll see. xD
Worst boss, best theme? Funny, it reminds me of Sonic 06: a meeeeeeh game with AN AWESOME SOUNDTRACK (example: Solaris phase 2 a.k.a. Rabbidluigi intro)
It was just Rules of Nature with the opening part It would be pretty cool if they used Locked and Loaded though, most especially considering they use projectiles
I did it. And yeah, it is quite hard. It's because since this is a boss and all that, the effect of the FOX blade is negated. Until you fight the GRADs after this one (which the FOX blade makes chew toys out of).
