Two Lockheed Constellations, the MATS Connie and the Dutch Connie, at Avra Valley, Arizona. Includes engine starts, taxiing, take-offs, landings and in cockpit.
I remember as a kid growing up back in the late fifties and early sixties watching the Connies fly overhead from the school yard on their way to LAX it was a beautiful sound and what a sight it was.
My first ride was on a Super Connie Seattle to Anchorage ALASA in 1961. Been on several sense. This MATS plane stopped here in Anchorage on it's way to Korea and my son got to see one . He worked at the airport and I got a few pictures of it before they took off.
I think the Constellation is the most beautiful passenger plane ever built, mostly because of the gorgeous S curve of the fuselage, but the triple tail stabilizer/rudder as well. I saw my older sister get on a TWA Constellation at Bradley Field in Hartford, Ct in the 1950's to fly to LA.
