My first major con presentation. Technically, i gave my first talk ever at ShmooCon earlier in the year, but it was in the super early morning slot on Sunday and only about 50 to 100 people attended that short session. This talk at DC13 ran for over three hours and was one of my best times ever on a stage. I covered more material in this presentation than you'll see in any other video. Nowadays, much of this content is only discussed in my private training sessions which cost a some serious money to attend.

Still a great watch. Still the video I point to when people are asking where to get started.

On Medeco's, there's basically 3 axial positions for the pins. I like to make my own picks so one day I filed a thicker pick in 3 positions to 'try out' the different positions. Basically it's a rake-pick with 3 different grooves cut at the right angles. Takes a while, but it works.

Besides a new gun, few things fascinate me more than a locked door, and even fewer things fascinate me more than being able to open that locked door without the key. I watched your Defcon video on gun boxes on another channel, and you earned a fan and a sub... Mark

Man, back in the days when a Deviant talk still had empty seats and cameras had no more than a dozen pixels... Btw, without the beard, you kinda look like Fred Savage. Then again, with that camera, Pamela Anderson would look like Fred Savage. Dev, you know this may have been your first major talk, but damn, you had the "presence" even then!

For some reason I'm abnormally happy that I was able to be the 666th like on this video. Not sure how I missed seeing this video for seven years, bur nice info here even compared to the modern videos that just seem to assume that you know some of these basics before getting to the meat of the topic

Put a nice spring or a few rubber donuts on the base of your bump-key to automatically reset it back to the start position.

Exactly the same that I do is to use a couple of small o-rings, it allows me to use repeated kncoks in very quick succession.

22:50 "this guy i know is the only man alive that can pick these locks" Have you met the Lockpicking Lawyer? LPL can basically look at a lock intently and it opens for him.

If you want the best firearm locking system, use a safe. Preferably with some kind of dual-locking system (ie: electronic combination and key)
@CGoody5642
@CGoody5642 5 лет назад
Completely depends on how vulnerable the combination/keylock and electronic lock are. If I can pick that keylock, the electronics are meaningless. And vice versa, if the electronics are easily spoofed or can be programmed while closed, it really isn't that secure
@JC-11111
@JC-11111 5 лет назад
@@CGoody5642 and all of that is useless if I can cut through the entire wall of the safe with a Sawzall or a circular saw 🤷‍♂️ like most 'safes' on the market today.
@TheWhiteTrashPanda
@TheWhiteTrashPanda 2 года назад
Bro the Lockpicking Lawyer opens safes like that all the time. I've seen him do it with a spoon.
@spacepirateivynova
@spacepirateivynova 2 года назад
@@TheWhiteTrashPanda I've opened cheap (and expensive, but poorly made) safes work a vibrational sander with a rubber pad... Sometimes you have to tilt them on an angle... Lol... If the discs aren't balanced, many rotational dial combo safes are easy to open this way.
