2:06 Small correction. An electric strike which is locked when no power is applied is referred to as "Fail-secure", not "Fail-safe". In a fail-safe installation, the strike would be unlocked when no power is applied. 7:56 Confirmation of fail-secure strike. Box for replacement indicates type as "NON FAIL SAFE".

Good idea using the drill battery. I would be nervous that the higher voltage may hurt a 12V strike. Something that may complement your toolbox is an in-line power controller by HES. If you search the web for 2005M3 SMART Pac III Original & replacement was actually Fail-Secure. New box was marked as "Non Fail-Safe" meaning Fail-Secure.

Good video but Why you used your camera mobile phone to record?

I'm not sure if putting 20V through a 12V device is a good idea but it sounds like there was actually a mechanical problem with the old one, since the solenoid was working.

Awesome video... For new installs are you using any NO CUT electric strikes? If so which one and do you recommend any?
