Very good. A short but very thorough history of Rachel. At 3.26 the bulbous circular part of the transmission we used to have that on our loco Clara also. Trevor Guest must have bought a batch of them I don't know what they were made for originally. Many of Trevor's locos are still doing good work and we would be completely lost without our one.

We believe it is from a Dingo scout car built by Daimler where her original engine came from, they used it for the final drive as it contains a crown wheel and pinion. The scout cars had one behind each wheel to drive the wheels.

It would be interesting to see a pic of what they were off. Patrick Keef told me that this drive arrangement was also on several other Trevor Guest locos that he had rebuilt. This part of our loco is in the skip now as it was worn beyond redemption and was replaced during the rebuild of our loco designed by Alan Keef. @@CleethorpesCoastLightRailway
