Last time we tried out 2 suck gates, to our surprise the wave was awesome. Now we're really going for it by trying one of the gates UNDER THE MALIBU BOAT! I love trying new things. You never know if something will work until you test it. We're getting real good waves out of this 2008 VLX Malibu.

I made a surf gate with different shapes that screwed onto the main gate. I haven't tried it yet, but I have wider, taller, house-shaped, and others. I love what you are doing.

I agree with you on the wake from moomba. The wake is perpendicular to the rear of the boat vs long and curled. Giving a short sweet spot. I have the makai with a crazy amount of weight and its great for small people. But really limited to heavier people. Longer wakes are better.

My buddy just bought a new mojo added 1000lbs of lead and it’s hard to get a long wave with decent size pocket too.

Try Surf Mode's 2 gate system on the sides (middle and rear) along with a shallower angle on an under-boat rear plate, and remove the front ballast for more rear, or at least central ballast.

Have you tried angling the gate in either direction?? Plus higher and lower...

I think the angle of the gate under the boat is too much, other gates from the bottom has 9-15 degrees. I wonder if that would work a suck gate with less angle.

Try stacking the surf gates one above the other. Maybe staggered a little bit so you have a super surf gate

Try it with only the gate stuck under the bottom corner.

What that other gate was doing on the bottom was it was like a giant trim tab and it was prob pushing the bow down so that’s why it was not as big of a wake

How do these compare to a boat equipped with Malibu’s Surfgate? Would it be worth the extra expense to buy a boat with Surfgate installed or do wake shapers compare in performance?

If you asked me if people are having 100K more extra fun than me, I'd so no. The new boats are nice for sure, I just don't want a payment. We just put sea deck in do it has almost everything a new boat does. Even when I sit in a new VLX, it doesn't feel that much different. the 06-12 Malibu VLX/LSV had a great hull design. I did a 2 part series on old boat vs. new boat that will give you more information on what you're asking.

How do you get it to stay on? I have a Sanger V215 and mine falls off every time.

One of two things. You're not on a flat surface or you're not getting the air out. Push hard in the center when you flip the lever.

Or you have a damaged suction cup. Mine kept falling off. Thought it was because I waxed the boat, but upon closer inspection, one of the cups had a tiny tear in it.

The gates are not meant to be assisting in listing a boat. It’s not what they are doing to create the wake.

Cood you have put more weight in drivers side probably to much list But yer probably won't work as the shape totally rong for bottom and lot of drag from size and shape
