spent many hours at morgan tower(quincy) friendly operators and ALL semaphore signals. spent many hours at st paris where dti went under the prr/pc/cr main. way back then , there was not nearly the tree growth at the quincy bridge as there is now. the PRR served St. Paris,Oh,New Paris,Oh and Paris,Oh. I have been to all 3 and photographed all 3.
Looks like this railway line has had some refurbishment. Road Crossings seem to have been repaved with blacktop. The track ballast looks to have been regraded and ties (sleepers) changed out. But the telegraph as not seen the linesman for many years!
Federal regulations don’t require them to sound the horn at private crossings. Sometimes they do grade crossing sequences at private crossings, but not very often.
whereas most ohio rail roads ran east west,,,dti ran north south creating a lot of junctions with dti. dti was a class operation in the day. nothing but fond memories.
