Andy good to see the brothers working together have Jared hide that torque wrench before somebody thinks it for a fancy breaker bar with a digital gage on it 👍🚜
I’ve noticed that a large portion of newer grease zerks are soft metal and sometimes a sort of brass that fails easily. I’ve been buying name brand zerk assorted packages from Napa with better results. I’ve heard that location influences Napa stores stocking so shop around. The best I’ve found was CAT but expensive!!! But I was tired of them stripping out when partially plugged and my power grease gun blew them out of threads. It really helped to be regularly greased, especially on backhoes and excavators. Good luck. Part’s today are a crap shoot.
From our experience Hydraulic down force is harder on the rest of the planter component’s. Not as forgiving with the rocks. Keep up the good work guys.
Never a "boring" video on FFF. You could weld the head on and as for oil filters on anything, swill them out with thinners until cleanish and put them back on until the next service in three years. The best torque wrench isn't Snap On, it's an 8ft length of scaffold pole. As always, great content!
I like that torque wrench. That makes it nice for doing the torque to yield bolts for sure. I gotta replace mine. I was actually looking at the Milwaukee one because it has the power ratchet built-in so it's like an electric ratchet and a torque wrench all in one. That was funny with the cleaning the threads out segment haha. I'll have to try that block of wood technique. That's a good tip Thank you. Right when I get done replacing the two different springs on the front of my Kenworth.
Another exceptional video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. There's no boring video from you. Keep the action coming catchya at the next one. You all stay safe!!
Very nice torque wrench i unfortunately still have the ole craftsman “clickers” also reminds me of the time one of my crew used permatex form a gasket on the head bolts of the race engine.. on the run in stand water started coming up thru the head bolts.. luckily it wasn’t anti-freeze.. but had to take ‘em all out clean them, put new head gaskets and put the proper sealer on them.. fun times indeed 😂
I love your videos. You have to fill the bolt holes with red lock tite then insert the bolt after using fancy torque wrench hit the bolt with a cold chisel so it stays in place😂🤣😂🤣
Hey Andy ! looking very good that engine block . nice to see one planter refresh and ready to go . Thanks for your time Andy Hourigan the great and have a good day !
Andy, be careful with some of JD's kits, some of the grease fittings are drive-ins instead of the normal fittings. Yea, discovered that the hard way once. I still prefer to use a chain wrench or vice grip chain wrench for oil filters. Bands, straps and even those sockets can be a pain in the butt at times.
Interesting video watching those head bolts being torqued. Hey, I thought you mentioned building some forage boxes this winter. Did that get put on hold?
Just wondering if maybe next time you fit bearing races, try putting them in the freezer for a few hours first as it might help stop the housings from splitting !!
I use loctite, anti-seize, and I spot weld the bolts so none of the horsepowers can get out. Gotta keep them horsepowers inside or they ain't no good. 🤣😂
A torque wrench as a pry bar? Yikes - I saw a corn planter being towed down the road last week, obviously our local farmers are also getting prepared here in Ontario. I Always enjoy seeing what’s going on Andy, thanks and cheers
Those had bolts are going to leak for sure, every engine builder knows the green hydraulic seal is the proper sealant. NICE torgue wrench, does it also have the adapter for degrees turned after initial torque?
Every time I watch your channel I think of Mike Bloomberg who said he could teach anyone to be a farmer just toss out some seeds. I laugh. This weekend I will pickup a quart of chocolate milk to salute you and see how many more banks are failing. They don’t call neck ties brain governor with out reason.
Haha your killing it with the sarcasm Andy🤣🤣 Ohh and I think young Andrew with that Mullet is watching to much of the Corn stars 🌽BTW tell Jerard ya don’t need to spend all that money on a fancy torque wrench….. you stop tightening when you fart 💨
The joke is on you. Loctite 1158514 Head bolt and water jacket sealer is made to seal threaded fasteners that go into water jackets. I understand that John Deere has some problems with head bolts leaking coolant.
What's the approx. dry weight of your planter Andy as it sits in your shop? Fully loaded must suck up the horsepower when planting some of your steep ground. Thanks for the torque lesson...😁
