Here's the thing: if the $130,000 WASN'T for the hush money payment, why isn't there any testimony about what it was actually for? Simple. Only two people can testify to that. One is at Riker's (and would certainly plead the 5th anyway) and the other won't dare get on the stand - he would be a perjury risk at best and would get absolutely shredded on cross. Without any refutation, the jury has no reason to conclude that the money is anything other than what the prosecution says it is - and that being the case, there's almost nothing the defense has offered that casts reasonable doubt. I wouldn't bet a house or car - juries can be unpredictable - but it looks to me as though the documentation in the case will be Trump's undoing.

This completely misses the fact that it wasn’t just $130,000. The payments over time amounted to $260K in order to cover Cohen’s 50% tax liability. It’s obvious from this that they were trying to make him whole because of a debt they owed him for a specific $130K amount paid to Daniel’s, and not because they were just paying him 260K for agreed “legal” services.

The crime he committed is falsely declaring on his business records/taxes that the payments to Cohen were “legal expenses”, even though they were hush money expenses to Daniels. The other law broken is that the payments were made specifically to suppress information that would influence the election. If you don’t think that is a crime, then you’d be OK if Biden violated campaign finance laws this election year by paying money to CNN to suppress damaging information about Hunter, wouldn’t you?

Prosecutors allege Trump was responsible for falsifying 34 different business records to hide the true nature of that repayment, calling them legal fees instead, and that Trump did so intending to commit or conceal another crime, a violation of state election law. And the theory here is that Cohen, by fronting the money to Stormy Daniels, made an unlawful campaign contribution to Trump that also was not disclosed. Now, one of the questions that remains to be resolved is whether it has to be a criminal violation of the federal election law to essentially count for purposes of the New York state statute, or whether a civil violation of the federal election law, which is less demanding, also would count.

He does know the payment was made. He ordered Cohen to do it. No scandal on Trump prior to his nomination because it would make him look bad. Trump will deny it because his defense is to lie about the truth.

The indictment indicates 34 felonies and misdemeanors. Find the indictment online and read it, instead of stamping your feet, soiling yourselves like your Dear Leader, and whining that there's no crime. Surely Cohen can point out the times that he was paid for legal services, maybe highlight any differences. Like Trump writing 3 or 4 cheques for $30,000 this time. Presumably he wasn't normally paid in this exact manner, when it was actually for services rendered, rather than reimbursement of payments made by Cohen on Trumps behalf

The prosecutors have shown a lot of incriminating evidence. It's up to the defense to provide a plausible explanation for the facts that induces doubt in one or more jurors. I don't see where they have come close to doing that.
