Any 80, 85, or 90 weight gear oil will suffice. Changing the oil is done by removing the 1/4" oil plug located just underneath the cleat on top of the windlass, and snaking a small hand pump in and pumping the existing oil out. If you have the windlass removed from the deck you can also drain it by removing the plug and tipping it, but that is of course more labor-intensive removing the windlass from the deck. The Tigres takes 0.5 Liters (or 17 ounces) of oil.
Awesome, thanks for the update. Last question of you don't mind? We have an older Tigres which is circa 2002 so that means it has the smaller motor. 1200w I believe? Is it possible to upgrade to the newer 1500w motor??
@@svZia-Switch51 Yes, replacement motors are available, and given the age of the windlass a newer motor would likely provide better performance. However it is important to note that the 1500W motor is physically the same motor as the older 1200W version, but it has been re-rated in more recent years as a 1500W motor based on updated motor rating standards across the industry.
