How do you keep your levers from getting broken? Do you loosen them, so they turn on the bar, rather than break? Any other tips for bike preservation when doing trials? THANKS. I'm glad youtube took that stolen vid of yours down!
Hey buddy, again thanks for keeping an eye for us as far as videos go! Much obliged. As far as levers - there are 2 main things you can do: a) move levers closer to the center of the steering column - away from the bar end, so that when the bike falls down, the tips/ends of the handbar (handles) get all the impact and b) yes, don't over-tighten them, since in case your levers get any impact they turn and thus minimize the impact. So far, knock on wood, I got only one lever bent when I was going up the steep hill and didn't make it all the way and the bike tumbled down. The dealer told me to get a new lever, but Tim Coleman told me to try to bend it back bit by bit and I did! Everything looks good now. I guess, Honda cares for the metal mix they add even to the levers.
I've always said: "Knowing how to crash/fall skills are as important as riding skills." Maybe more? Ask any stuntman.... Every season offers new challenges.
