Logan (2017) - Trailer Featuring Nine Inch Nails' version of "Hurt"

The first trailer for Logan featured the really awesome Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt." This re-edit is not meant to slight that version, since Johnny Cash's weathered vocals are perfect for this incarnation of Wolverine, but to see if the more angsty tones of the Nine Inch Nails original convey the same feelings of melancholy and sorrow.

I love both version. Truthfully, what I like about these version was NIN vibes deliver much more emotions and angst compared to Cash. Trent Reznor sang the melody really full of guilt and anger while Johnny Cash kind of have hopelessness and regret interpretations

In the context of the actual film, I think the Nine Inch Nails original actually works better than Johnny Cash's cover.

they totally should of used this instead of Cash. that playing as the trailer music while Wolverine is kicking ass gave me chills

You did some real good. Both tracks fit well and make sense. The Cash trailer let's us feel how old and depressed Logan has become, that everyone is really hurting, while this one exemplifies the guilt he feels and their desire to fix what little is left. You really hit the nail on the head

As much as I love the Cash version, the original by Reznor is still much darker and more beautiful. It makes this trailer just that much more awesome.

I actually have to give it to you. The original works better than the Johnny Cash version in this trailer. I just wish fox would do a proper edit of it with the proper sound design.
