Thanks Dave for singling out the weak minded person individual who has no right to comment like that. I grew up being bullied by people who now are not as successful as me. Keep up the videos I like them. I grew up cutting wood with cable skidded. Now I run my own concrete business in Maine.👍🏻
Man u r crazy working n that. U gotta 1 tuff man to do that. Good video though. What's heater n door panel for ?? Like cause it's intensely cold there. It warms engine maybe
Appreciate the beginning words I have been in a funk lately trying to get stuff done and it not going well so I haven’t been making the world a better place but I’ll try tomorrow! That’s wicked cold out and now I know what people mean when they say stick it up the tailpipe I always thought they were being mean but now I see they just want it warmed up! Lol. And yes it is definitely dangerous being in cold climates by your self. That fuel hose was as my uncle would say was stiffer than a honeymoon... well i won’t say it being that it’s a family channel but you get the idea lol
The woods road will freeze up good with snow off hopefully you added treatment or be taking timbco home and tucking her in at shop hope the week is productive
Before I retired the company I worked for made Plate Freezers for meat plants they operate at -40c so I know where you are coming from as far as cold is concerned doing the commissioning on theses meant going inside to work on them, they can't be shutdown while you work because it would take weeks to thaw and then bring back to -40c bl33dy hard work and especially as the brain don't function as good take care my friend when in those temps. Good retort on that Troll.
Oh yeah don't worry about that jerk, I made a video replacing the unit hub bearing on my wife's 2010 ford. Some guy called me an idiot because i changed the whole hub, not just the "bearing" which is what he expected! I am not aware of another way LOL
Great vid as usual David. Just block the unintelligent trolls. They don’t have anything better to do in their boring lives. I find your humor and wisdom to be uplifting and motivational.
I remember them chilly -30+ days in the early 80's winter logging for Lenord Perrington...Hand falling and cutting 100" on the landing, pulling cable and hooking chokers on the old timberjack by Remer, and my personal favorite, piece cutting and hand stacking spruce by Bena...Glad its all a memory now i do all my logging watching and laughing thru your videos!!! Thank you for taking, no, making the time to take us with!!!
Some people just don't know what they are talking about. Don't pay attention to them. Delete them if you want who needs that kind of crap. Your right tho be careful in that kind of temperature you don't want to get frost bite.
Yo Dave, it ain't learn, it's lern't,when you can't spell. Does dad pay you to run the dozer, he's got to wave to us when he goes by the camera. BTW, how do you keep the fuel from gelling when it's 35 below?
Don't let that negative comment bother you. I now live in Ely Mn. 7 years in Tok Ak and Fairbanks Ak. Most loggers shut down after -30. Too many equipment repairs. Folks had wood put up long before the cold. I stopped changing my trucks oil at -30 F. AT -20 or warmer, we went caribou hunting. :-) Unless you worked on the slope, you avoided extreme cold. Only large corps could afford working year around. Amazing what vehicles can tolerate nowadays.
My Great Grandfather drained the oil from his Ford Jubilee,at evening after work . He then heated it up before adding it to the machine the next morning in extreme cold , using his wood stove . That was his only way to ensure it would start when very cold . Some farmers was known to actually build a small fire under the tractors belly when all else had failed . I regularly use " torpedo" type heaters and plastic tarpolion for heating machine and sometimes mason mortor when very cold .. I find that much can be accomplished when fridged. People and machine are less prone to overheating I recon . I have seen some use a small " buddy" heater using propane to keep machinery partially warm when parked overnight. It seemed to do the trick well. Unless the heater stopped working in the night as they are prone to do when left unattended.. stay warm , hydrated and safe out there Sir .
Us old guys eyes don't usually focus well enough to read that small print. Fortunately, trolls, and bullies usually don't have anything to say that's worth reading anyway.
If the water freezes that fast don't get your tongue to close cause I bet it would stick lol. Where not that cold only 14 below zero that's cold enough. Getting it to bare ground it should freeze up really quickly for you. Keep up the great videos
So i have a question.... How do you fire up your equipment at -36??? Do you guys have little diesel engines that run to circulate the coolant and oil? Because I saw how thick the hydrolic oil is in a video you posted last winter.. I just cant see it being easy on those engines trying to oush around cold oil!!!.... Crazy... I know my diesels would not start that cold!!!!!
Yes I Dooooooo leave the woods n a Much Better way than they were !!! I firmly believe in reforestation !!! A Good logger logs All Species of the trees available for harvest in the woods !!! I've logged several tracts of timber that have been select cut/ another terminology for rapping the landowner as well as the Forest !!! When you leave Low Grade timber standing every where it becomes the dominant species ... I totally believe in reforestation for our future generation !!! Thank you for the video ... The average person has No Ideal what we loggers go threw !!! I still log the old conventional way, plus No heated cabs on any equipment ... As for cold starts No Problem/ generators and block heaters ... Thank you again ... Patriot Perry .M🇺🇸GA/WEG1WGA
Man it's cold where you are! Here in southern Maine it only got down to 7 degrees last night.I'll take that over-38 anytime. That fuel hose looked like PVC pipe.Stay warm and stay safe!
Anybody that said you cant push a rope, never tried a frozen one. Lol -40° is the same in farenheit and celcius but either way its too cold to pee outside lol
I don't leave the dock to haul my lobster traps unless it's at least 15f outside and warm up to 25 or so. Guess I'm a wimp but my boat wasn't built for winter fishing use what you got right. Be safe working by yourself out there. Once again another great vid 👍👍
I worked in the woods up there 40 -50 in the cut foot sue ,35 yeas ago so cold you could Lim trea with a good hard wood stick, just a skidder and my logging partner.0 to 10 below perfect weather. I miss sometimes. Wheres this at?
@@davidhaley7053 I cut wood in the chppawa national Forest cut foot sue , around deer River and in Carlton county St Louis county, etc. I'm in Mississippi. It's a little warmer but I miss logging, thanks for the upload. I cut little out Washington to.
Awesome video David Your men sure put a lot of wood up in one day. Excellent job of stacking logs David I needed to hear what you said at beginning of video. I'm presently going through alot of health issues. And I've been hard to be around. I'm not that old and can at present only work a half-hour And then I have to stop and rest. I'm always impressed with your videos.
Atta boy Thanks for watchin guy!! Cracked me up as usual. Great reply to the bad spelling knucklehead. We use the tailpipe trick to thaw frozen hose couplings at winter fires.
First time poster here Sir, but I have been watching you for a while now and don't worry about the trolls, and in my job I keep people alive every day but keep on doing what you do and I will keep watching!!!
-188 below zero on my pickup thermometer this morning . Do you have enclosed cabs with heaters on all your machines ? My legs got so cold I could hardly get off my skidder to set chockers .
I really like your vids. Logging is not what it seems. It is a very hard job because of the elements. Have a good day David. Keep the good vid coming. Thanks!!
Clever that there is a built in parking heater in one of your machines. Could you apply heat trace to certain areas (like the hydraulic pumps) to heat them up earlier? A secondary benefit would be the added electrical load which would help the engine generate heat even at idle.
A lot of loggers here in Georgia can't log because of the mud. So wet they can't operate. We don't get that kind of cold thank God! Don't see how you people do it.
Geez, I was moaning when it was 2 degrees this morning. Guess that would be a warm front for you. Be careful out there. Kinda risky working that far out by yourself is that weather.
My dad had Timber Wolves come out and climb the log pile and stand up there being nosey lol, We had a small logging business with a Gafner 5500 Iron Mule and just piece cutters, but he got out of it because workmans comp was starting to kill him with having guys on the ground cutting
This day I managed to solve a problem. I have got rid of the outer bearing bowl with a home-built hydraulic press. At last I can repair my old car. It made my world a better place.
I'm not saying every one is good. I've been basically the only that's ran this one. I'm fussy, careful and experienced. I stay on top of things. You have to look over a machine very very well before buying. If the inside of the cab is trashed stay away!!!
