The thing is like Logic said in No Pressure he doesn't really care about being top 5 anymore. He just wants to experiment and try things out and thats what he is doing here. This music is for the true fans the fans that have been there since day one.
Very easy to chill to this album in the background cleaning the house. And honestly his volume of music is so large that anything new is fine with me. I prefer he just release music for himself and I just listen to whatever that is. This album was really good. As a 32 year old my life parallels with his so much. I have a 3 year old and followed him since 2011 so his music in context of his life is really incredible. It's like an ongoing autobiography
I think you get lost in searching for something mind blowing but you've critiqued so much music you can't just drift into someone else's artwork. The next time you listen to a Logic album don't listen to the lyrics as wordplay, listen to the syllables as an instrument. There isn't another hip hop artist that has put out as many songs that lift your spirit when listening. And if anyone can think of someone I'd like to know. I use Logics music to focus on my daily grind through life and to just put me in a good mood.
13:44 Unfortunately most people will miss the bars unless they're explained now a days. Bad for people that love finding bars themselves, but good for the average listener
This might be Logic’s best produced album. I know Vinyl Days went crazy but here every beat is wild, and the instruments and the samples go hard every time
The skits tell a story and it’s a full concept album/story not a playlist of bangers but I can see why people would want skits separated but I basically only listen to albums in full not playlists of random songs so it doesn’t bother me at all it’s the whole experience of it that’s amazing
i’d disagree, coming up as a kid who literally didn’t have shit, your gonna take 20 million and have guaranteed generational wealth over not taking that 20 million and risking not making that much with just sticking to rap. It worked out fine, he made like 30 million off radio hits and can now jus chill and do what he wants.
I was thinking that the skits weren't so bad and I found them funny, so I didn't get why so many people hated them. Then you said the weed-head thing and it all makes a lot more sense lmao.
I found Logic because of the 1800 song and he helped me fall in love with rap which was a genre I had always ragged on back in the day (grew up as a metalhead with minimal rap exposure). Since finding his music I generally enjoy pretty much everything he puts out be it hard boom bap 90s style rapping or his more theatrical albums with skits and features. I genuinely find it so hard to figure out why there is so much back n fortha bout this? Can't people just either say "hey this is or isn't for me and I'm cool with that". As much as I don't have a lot of experience listening to rap (a bit more now) I would put Logic up there as a top 5 rapper. The funny thing is - people always talk about him so either they're salty he sold out and continued to be successful or they just hate-listen to his music. Every time I try and talk to people about Logic this same old fuckin discussion starts up and it's SO tiring man. Makes me not even want to listen to rap if there's all this infighting about such nitpicky details that happened 6 years ago lol.
I think you may have misunderstood the non-binary bar on Redpill VII. Non-binary people actually choose neither male nor female. The point of that bar is the "that means it never miss," as in a non-binary person would never choose an honorific like "Miss" (or "Mister"). And then of course, the other meaning is that his flow never *misses*
Man I used to love watching your reviews cause you were always so lit about them. Weather it was good or not, you were the hype man…. I miss the old Ernest.
I've listened to this album for a couple days straight and it's getting better and better. I like the fact logic no longer gives a fuck about what people think of his music now It's your first listen...I suggest you listen again (your opinions seem a bit nitpicky imo)
It was a bit nitpicky but he’s a reviewer, and it definitely gets better with every listen especially when you get to light year each time it’s awesome!
Logic didnt have no 20 mill until he went pop. He wants his family to be good for years to come so he went mainstream, and when you see an oppurtunity as an up and coming emcee to reach your peak popularity, why wouldnt you? If Logic didnt go mainstream, he wouldnt even be in the conversation and alotta people wouldnt be tapping in for NP, VD and now CP. I myself wouldnt’ve been listening
Lol drake a better rapper then logic? And logic not making pop music since day one? Listen to logics first mixtapes. Literally has so many types of music
TITS is without a doubt, to me, one of the best hip hop albums of all time. The raps may not be the most bar heavy of all time, but just the concept and over all production and vibe is just so damn good
Great video but at what u said at 8:54 i highly disagree with u. Everyone is different and everyone's perceptions , worldview , life experinces and mindsets are all different. There are many people who prefer logic over some of the top commercial artist. There is nothing wrong with that because everybody is different and has different taste.
I’ve been a Logic fan since his mixtapes in 2011 and I just enjoy anything he puts out I don’t think he has to prove himself to anyone anymore he just puts out what he wants and I like it.
I think what this album does best is showcase the differences in hunger between a version of Logic that wanted the fame and respect, and the version of Logic who just doesn’t care about that anymore and just wants to rap or do whatever he wants because it’s what makes him happy. Imo, this project sends that message pretty clearly, especially in tracks like Lightyear, Ayo, & Self Medication. This man doesn’t care about being relevant in the top whatever rappers debate anymore. He did then, and you can hear that perspective in songs like Gaithersburg Freestyle or the verses that talk about the desire for money in Lightsabers, etc. His hunger has changed from wanting to be the best go simply wanting to enjoy what he loves and in the hopes that the fans join him for the ride
I understand your feeling about skits, but skipping them on your first listen completely destroys the experience of the album. Also, skipping the songs you’ve already heard does this as well. The singles fit so much better in context, and make the album flow really well. The skits do this as well. I only just recently started skipping the skits because I’ve heard them enough in the context of the album. But you gotta at least do a one time listen through the entire album as the artist intended. Otherwise you aren’t getting the full experience.
@@TheEvanMahon especially going from a somewhat mainstream rapper to then making over 20 mil after working your ass off for years, i think he just went for it, and proved making shit like coadm he made tons of money and didnt make that much off of np and vd
I love this album and I don't mind the actual skits themselves. But the fact that they're embedded into the track is obnoxious to me lol. I can never listen to the song and have it play on, I'll either have to skip it manually or listen to the skit time and time again.
I love you talking about rhyme schemes, bars and phrases and I think that hits the nail on the head of why I like logic so much. He's very dynamic in his rhyme schemes. I'm personally one of those people who love that time of phrasing opposed to the people who hate it.
i feel like its the label pushing unrealistic deadlines, bro had d2 weeks to make vinyl days, and this was his first project independent and you could tell
Now THIS is a REAL review from someone who understands Hip Hop and where Logic is coming from.. unlike Shawn Cee and NeedleDropTano who just listen to 20 seconds of the song, laugh and say Logic trash.. good review bro
I personally like the album. Has a mix of "old" logic style boom-bap raps and instrumentals and has growth and new more melodic styles. It parallels his concept of "coming up" and his ideology back then vs where he is at now. Also I see two sides to the "pop" albums hate. In TITS I think he wanted to explore a new sound, push a "fun concept" while working with bigger name producers/artists. Everybody is the tipping point of Logic trying to push his "Peace, Love, Positivity" but doing so in a too commercial fashion while trying to secure a generational bag.
I think cole and kenny slowly have gotten worse. Its tiring to listen to. Logic was always steady. I knew what to expect. Eminem is too technical its exhausting. When it comes to the last 10 years of music, I honestly think logic is in my top 5. Pre 2010's we have the goats. Also, you need to read the Logic Memoir. You'll learn a lot about what you think you know. That book really made me see him in a different light and if I ever met him I'd want to give him a hug. Not for me, but for him.
Agreed. Cole may not have as bad of lows as Logic has had but let’s not pretend like No Pressure, Vinyl Days and College Park aren’t better than everything Cole has put out since 2014. Give me Logic’s discog. Idk if it’s in this cut since I saw the 2h live stream but at one point says we’re biased towards Logic but he’s obviously biased towards Cole.
Agree. Logic is in my top 5 of the 2010s. J Cole and Ken r amazing but rlly to their not that amazing as everyone is making out to be. IMO I prefer Cole I’ve Ken. But Logic is a perfect blend of old and new hip hop
Backwards take, Logic wasn't always steady, he took a decline from Everybody onwards then bounced back hard with No Pressure. Kendrick is one of the most consistent rappers of all time with projects which us why he's so respected. MMATBS was his worst album and still solid (8 for me). And Cole has literally been on the greatest feature run we've seen from any rapper in the past five years. Those two are in a lane Logic will never reach and that's fine, Logic still does what he does and I've been enjoying it the last three albums straight.
Why do you guys like being on logic's case ... I feel logic recieves more Criticism than any other rapper that we listen to and it's so annoying. For once guys just learn to enjoy the music for what it is rather than always expecting the artist to live to those high expectations and if you really don't like the song. Don't listen to it It's that simple Personally i feel like College Park is one of the dopest albums we've had so far this year and I'm not saying this coz I'm a logic fan. I'm saying this because I feel he's been putting the extra work to secure he's place in the game. The least you can do is give him he's flowers while he's alive.
Album is just OK to me, a bit disappointing if I'm being honest. I liked No Pressure and Vinyl Days way better. Music is good but Way too much talking and skits on this album I agree with you , wish there was more rapping/better rapping and less bad skits.
I haven’t searched the coordinates yet, I’m assuming it directs you to College Park? I do agree that stint of songs (Clone Wars - Playwright) are the only low part of the album. Logic with 3 very solid albums in a row👀. I also would’ve enjoyed the skits being their own tracks like he did on Vinyl Days. I’m bumping Cordinates and Shimmy hard. Gaithersburg Freestyle gets stale if you bump on repeat too many times. Be weary. 🫡 8/10.
