The moment you have an idea as how to use scaler with the new Logic Pro chord track….a video appears in on your you tube feed. Not only that it’s from the Scaler guys themselves.😊
WOW since the new logic update I've been doing this but typing in the chords by hand... This video came right on time! So many great tips and why did that keyboard part sound so sick lol.
David, this is just amazing. I thought what will scaler do now, and was waiting for the video. You were quick and you show just how much scaler 2 is an amazing tool/plugin. Thanks!!
Nice work!! Thank you for these tips!! Allot of people are complaining about the update. For me, these updates made my life super easier!! Super in love with these updates to supercharge my workflow!!
Amazing! Hopefully in the future we'll be able to just drag any MIDI region into the Chord track and it add the chords in automatically. Till then this is a great and fast way to get chords into the Chord Track :)
@@sau1itud366 I think it’s only a matter of time… I have no problems waiting, no intention to switch DAWs any time soon since Logic offers free updates for LIFE, does Studio One do that?
Been a busy week so I tinkered around with the new session players a little. This morning I dug into the features this morning and found the chord input quite clumsy... I thought to myself. I wonder if scaler can help work this. Woohoo! Looks like it can!
Fantastic. This inspired me to create a short video on how to do something similar using Scaler 2 and Logic Pro 2.0 for iPad, and it works pretty well and is also quite fast at getting chords added. It's great that these apps can work together so well. Thanks!
Thanks for working that out, to be honest I haven't had a chance to grab the Pad but will have the team do some experimenting next week. I guess the questions is - is there a substitute for TAB for next chord on the iPad?
This is awesome. I was wondering, could you drag the chords from Scaler straight onto the chord track OR drag the chords from Scaler onto the track itself and then drag the chords from the track to the chord track? I''m a Studio One user and you can do that with its chord track. If it works in Logic, it would be easier than having to click the chords in the chord track one by one, press tab, click the chord in Scaler etc. Awesome that Logic has a chord track now though. I love that feature.
I was waiting for a chord track in Logic that can be controlled by Scaler for so long, but I was hoping it would be a little more intuitive. It could be easily if Logic allowed drag and drop from a MIDI track to the chord track (or from the Scaler plug-in directly :) And if it was also possible to assign instrument tracks and audio tracks to the chord track instead of just copying static chords on top of your existing MIDI pattern. It is already pretty cool, but could be a lot more powerful and I hope it will be with one of the next updates as this is nothing magical. Especially compared to what is already possible now.
And Daw Sync??? Am I missing something? Do I have to choose in the setting somewhere so that Scaler follows Logic? When I enable Daw sync Scaler still plays the number of beats selected in Settings/playback???
Please ensure you have turned off the BIND button and turned off any PERFORMANCE otherwise you are performing a performance. For more help with Scaler please head over to forum.scalerplugin.com
@@SchoolofSynthesis The Scaler is on default, both bind and performance is turned off. Can it be something with logic settings where it detects different voicing chords? The chords sound similar but have lower voicing. I've been battling with this for a while now. In Scaler I have the chord Dmin6 11 and Logic detects it's G7
Hi Davide. Hope you're doing well. Just curious if there's a tutorial like this for Cubase's chord track? I assume it's most likely very similar. Keep up your great work!
Scaler means even fewer people Will Learn how to play the instrument. I get it. It is a crap ton of work to learn theory and all these cool chords and their cool Voicing and how they voice lead from one to the other.
It would be cool to have similar workflow on iPad pro. I find the session players most useful for throwing some ideas down, which typically happens while traveling/flying. It would be great if you could do a tutorial for the iPad app.
@@jbognap That's what we do, but this is level-0 integration, we'd expect something better integrated like what David has demonstrated here (or even better 🙂)
Holy shit is that fiddly. That is a lot of steps. You should be able to create a midi track with the midi instrument you want, then find the cord as illustrated in the instrument and just drag it to the timeline.
For those hating on these new tools for making music, please consider that this has been going on for decades. This dread was aimed at the Mellotron, synthesizers, drum machines, an sequencers to name a few. “It’s the end of self expression and musicians are being replaced by technology! “ All art is about making choices, and these tools give everyone more options. I would argue that music goes stale with out new instruments and tools. There will be people that just hit play and crank out generic uninspired music, but there are people who do that every day on “real” instruments. I personally am inspired to push the boundaries of what can be done with these tools. Think out side of the box. Think Aphex Twin, J Dilla, The Beatles, DJ Kool Herc, Prince, Brian Eno, Wendy Carlos, Imogen Heap………
We agree, the wider the community that can be introduced to creativity the better for the world. Besides, you can never make an amazing tune without genuine human input. There's always aversion to new technology it's just part of the cycle of creativity and modernity
Brian Eno and the like didn’t have tools that were friendly to their imaginations. Unintuitive approaches are sometimes necessary to force an instrument to create what the imagination hears. Think of the snare drum sample in the Fine Young Cannibals’ “She Drives Me Crazy”. That was an endeavor to make. I think scaler is primarily for people who want to make music that sounds like music they are used to hearing.
I'm always interested in what you can do with technology that people haven't thought of doing yet. - Brian Eno I'm very good with technology, I always have been, and with machines in general. They seem not threatening like other people find them, but a source of fun and amusement. - Brian Eno You can't do anything interesting with cutting-edge technology except not make it cutting-edge. - Brian Eno Video of Brian Eno demonstrating an unconventional way to use Logic Pro scripts to get more from a conventional drum loop. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QHIhDP8pTkE.htmlsi=bUliGc6R-kNlPVn0
What software do I need to buy to work with scaler two and Ableton to do same thing? Instacomposer 2? Ripchord free. Orb . Caltain chords. Rapid composer 5?
I purchased Scaler EQ for iPad and last video you mentioned that Scaler 2.9 for iPad would be releasing some times between ending of last month and beginning of this one... nothing yet... Logic Pro 2 on iPad is also available and will they work well together?
Hi there are several videos online that can help, have you seen this one? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3xUHvhd6Sbs.htmlsi=5JVY6ifGdxi7hvNp
Question: I've been having issues turning session players into midi. Can you do a video showing how to do that with Bass Plater and Spectrasonics Trilian?
Using Scaler Control in Logic. If I play the chords in, rather than drag chords in will the humanizing feature work even though I only see the single midi notes in logic? Is it considered an audio file when I do that?
There is a slightly faster way to enter the chords from Scaler into the Chord Track, based on that video (not mine): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mJ7pTR7iKGY.html 1. Drag and drop Scaler chords onto an empty instrument track 2. Create an instrument track and set it to Internal Mini In to the track from 1) 3. Click the midi input on the chord track (like in this video) 4. Play your song and press tab to move to the next chord as soon as the Chord track detected the first chord Note, make sure to keep the chord track window open for this to work. :)
Interesting and thanks for sharing but to be fair it's apples and pairs with the method in our video. If you are using Scaler our method doesn't require the creation of a superfluous chord track. Still there are times where your method would work great!
The Chord track in Logic Pro only retrieves 4 notes out of the 5 chord notes sent by ScalerCont2... Am I missing something? (i am new in the music world)
Just the tab key on your Mac keyboard. Maybe try and ensure Logic is in focus (click on the background somewhere) and make sure you are on the chord track. Follow Davide's video closely should be no problem. Hope that helps.
This is complicated. I would like to have on logic a plugin called for example Styler which can play arranger like Yamaha Korg etc styles. It would be very useful and make life easier.
Hi, I have a real problem here because when i want to open scaler at the very beginning when i go to "midi effect", i can see chord trigger, arpeggiator, modulator etc... but i can't go very far to see "audio unit" to find scaler. Do you have an idea please of what's going on? Best from France.
Hard to diagnose here but please head over to forum.scalerplugin.com and list your DAW and Specs. Sounds like you just need to load Scaler 2 onto your Instrument channel.
In this instance Logic's Key Signature is not really being used to transpose anything so it's not relevant here and doesn't;t effect anything. You can always right click the chords and Analyse Key Signature
@@SchoolofSynthesis Thanks, it worked fine yesterday to insert the chords on the track, today not working and I am doing everything right! I rewatched the video many times to be sure, but the track chord not reading the chord data from Scaler. EDIT: Had to clikc twice on the notes in Scaler to catch the notes into the track chord. Alao restarted Logic//Edit 2: not working to insert the midi chords
The only place you can purchase Scaler 2 from is Plugin Boutique. Please go back to Plugin Boutique and they will assist you. Your licence will be there under 'My Account'
For the love of god. I've been on Big Sur since early 2022. Apple wants you to have macOS 13.5 to update logic. From the looks of it, the software update is only offering 14.5. obviously, we will lose Pro Tools and every other plugin if we go right to 14.5. How do people in the industry handle this? Does anyone know a safe place to download Ventura 13.5? I can't find it through Apple. This is a nightmare.
@@SchoolofSynthesis I've searched that forum and did not find a solution to this problem? Do you have a link to a post with this solution? I've tried to have both bind and sync on/off + different combos... ? So, there's a bug cause Scaler is supposed to be able to follow Logic? Any good help or link to an easy solution would be appreciated. Thanks.
