Hey Josh! Just finished this video on Join, Bounce, etc. As always, loved the info. Then out of the clear blue, looking around for more Logic tutorials, I came across your video from 9-years ago on “Flex Pitch & Vocal Tuning”. Ironically, it was also Video #23! You had “it” then and you have it now. It was very helpful for me because many moons ago I could sing any pitch from Barry White to Roy Orbison without cracking. I can still sing but I need “a little help from my friends”. I’m looking forward to tuning my vocals now. As all of us keep commenting, your tutorials are the best! Thanks and keep it up! ❤ Gianni
Hi! First of all, congrats for your work, this gotta be the best Logic lesson series around hands down. I'm following along this lesson but I got stuck at converting the stereo audio bass track into mono. I've followed precisely your instructions but when I press bounce the region stays as stereo, the only difference I can notice is that the waveform gets smaller.
Very helpful. I'm assuming than I don't have to keep my right and left panned guitars on two separate tracks. I can join them onto one track without losing stereo quality.
I would not recommend that because you will lose control over how much panning you want on the guitars. I would just leave them as separate tracks, maybe put them in a track stack if you want simultaneous control over the guitars.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy yes ,yes ,I actually realised after posting that I would lose ability to control different plugins for left and right. Cool. Thanks... well I'll experiment anyway.
Hi Josh. Do you have a video where you talk about BIP as it relates to sends and busses? I had a project that was quite complex and complete but I wanted to do a re-mix. My goal was to print the effects and pan/volume into each track that I wanted to keep the same so I didn't have to repeat all that in the new mix. But I had sends and bus processing. When you BIP, do the sends and busses print as well? Or do you need to do something different. For example, on one track, I BIP both the audio and the aux track as two separate tracks - could I have bounced them together in place? And what if there is bus processing? Thanks. Hershey
Hi, thanks for the info !! Do you know why bounce in place creates a stereo new track even the original track is mono? It happens when I use Melodyne with a vocal track, thanks a lot !
Help! I'm editing some breaths out of my vocal tracks, but when I merge everything together with command J, I don't get the usual notification that a new audio file will be created, instead, everything I've cut out just comes back! It's like I'm hitting the undo button (though the tracks do merge into one). This has never happened before, any idea what's going on?
Nice video. I"m going to have to go back and grab all of them. One question on the bip function. When converting a MIDI track to audio, the MIDI track is left greyed out, and will no longer play. There are times I'd like to bounce the MIDI track a couple times with different sounds and then mix the audio. How do I keep the MIDI track from greying out, or is there something to do before bouncing? Thanks so much.
Just select the "Source: Leave" option in the bounce in place dialog, and it will leave the original MIDI there, without muting it. You've probably selected the "mute" option.
I can’t thank you enough for these videos. You are a wonderful teacher. You’re covering all the things that I’ve wished I’ve known more about in the past. And you do it really really well. Thank you!
Hi is there a way to join audio clips to where the end of the joined file is determined by placement in the timeline instead of where the audio file ends? For example having kick drums samples I can join into a 2 bar loop. Pro Tools has a very easy way of doing this. Wondering if there is a quick trick? Cheers!
I have a question. imagine I have a very long verse and I don't want to record it all in one go so I don't lose breath, so I then record it in sections but on different tracks until I finish the verse. but if I have multiple takes for each section of the verse which are all on different tracks how can I then combine all of them on one track but still see all the takes I done for each section of the verse
Sir thank you for all you have done for the logic community. I have followed you for years and learn new things all the time although I’ve been using the program for a long time. I have ran into an issue that has stumped me. I cannot type anywhere in logic. When I try only shortcut keys work. The issue resolved itself but it stumped me. Have you ever encountered this problem?
Where are you trying to type? Like the notepad, for example? One thing it might be is that Logic (and most MacOS apps) have to be "in focus" in order to receive keyboard or mouse input. So if you happen to have another app open at the same time, and you have then both up on the screen, and you start entering keyboard input, it's possible that the keyboard input is going to another app that's in focus. Often you have to just click on the Logic interface somewhere to bring it into focus and then type. For the notepad, you have to make sure to click in the notepad area and then type, because individual areas in Logic also have to be in focus. Other than that, I have not encountered this before.
