In this video I demonstrate how to create custom Sampler instruments easily, quickly, and with minimal programming, using Auto Sampler in Logic Pro. Hi, I had a little issue with my Logic and wanted to know if you could help me with that. So, I'm trying to record MIDI percussion, using the native library that comes with Logic, but when I load the "Blocks and Bells Performance" patch, and I load "Sampler" in "Multi output" mode, it doesn't assign the single instruments such as Jamblocks and Cowbells to the right outputs, it all stills coming from the main outputs, I already checked than all the Groups Outputs into Sampler where assigned correctly, but it doesn't seems to work. I found it weird because when I do the exact same process with the "Conga Performance" and "Timbales Performance" patches, it does recognize all the assigned outputs in "Sampler" and it works perfectly, I hope you guy can help me!
Amazing video as always and well explained. I have to make a Tune for University using the Sampler and I've moved from Ableton to Logic and never use samplers in my Trance tunes so this is worth its wait in gold to help me use Logics sampler, so Thank You. Can I ask in Ableton when I was making tunes the Chords were really easy as its chose a Key then fold it so can never hit a wrong note. What's the closest Logic has to this to help me not hit a wrong note??? Thank you in advance @MusicTechHelpGuy !!
Thank you so much for this video! I've used SampleRobot for my external MIDI gear but this looks much more powerful. Your Logic Pro X videos are the gold standard!!
Thank you for this! I know for comments it’s old but I watched this when it came out and tried it. But yesterday I happy accident ‘d upon a stack of patches I wanted to capture. Concerned I might not get them all saved and the setup as a whole, I looked this back up and grabbed it with fine detail. Thanks for your work!
Nice video. And nice sound, it could be great in an intro for a song called "Enjoy The Silence" 😄 I know you wanted to keep it simple but you could have used the reverb tail of the samples with a release triggering.
Yeah, the point is to do whatever you want to do with the effects. Whatever sound design you like. You can even add MIDI FX and it'll sample the sound of the MIDI FX.
Ok, so I've auto-sampled an instrument and once in sampler - Is there a way to turn on loop mode and adjust the loop region for all samples in the instrument at once or do I have to do it on every single key individually? I tried highlighting all the keys and turning it on, doesn't seem to work. If there's a way I'd love to know, thanks!
Is there a way to use Auto Sampler with external synths? I tried it with my Moog Matriarch and Auto Sampler did play through the process but no audio files were created. It would be an interesting way to use Moog sounds in full polyphony. I've created sampled instruments with the Moog by recording each key separately but it would great to do it automatically.
This is strange. I auto sample something. I load sampler and go to the top and go down and i have no auto sampler...... LOL this is strange.. I have did it before many times. just poped back in for a refresher. it gone from the list....
Question I see You use the auto sampler for software instruments can You use it with audio becuase I wanting to create a sample instrument out of glass bottle with velocity layers about 10 of them So the instrument has dynamics how would you go about that can you still use auto sampler to do that with audio thanks and please do more videos about creating your own sampling using sampler thanks God Bless
Excellent tutorial as always. I have been wanting to check out the auto-sampling function in Logic and now I don't have to dig through the manual to figure it out. I was thinking of using it with hardware synths but it never occurred to me to try it with a stack of soft synths. Brilliant! Thank you very much! BTW, if you were to make a video demonstrating the workflow with hardware I would be all over that. 😎 You rock man!

Auto sampler had passed me by! This is great. Only last week I had the problem of a Reaktor instrument that didn't like my M1 Mac based MainStage rig, and I need that sound for a gig so I sampled it the long way,
