Hey SG, hope you're well :) Agree 100% of the two instruments this one wins out and is closer to sounding more natural than the strings. I think you could easily use more on it's own and it would still sound relatively authentic! Nice to have a brass ensemble as part of LPX. For me the new key switching and articulations is the best part. Just need to sort all my libraries now! :)

Hi! Thanks for this. I've been struggling with driving Studio Horns with an EWI. It seems like the following setup works best, but I still get weird velocity dropouts on the first note in a phrase sometimes. Haven't cracked that yet. Any tips? Vibrato Controller: 1 - MODULATION Manual Vibrato Mode: OFF Dynamics via CC - ON Dynamic Controller: 2- BREATH Dynamic Controller Mode: CONTROLLER (ABSOLUTE) (doesn’t seem to matter much) Legato Transitions: CHECKED The rest… default Volume: 100% Attack and Release: OFF Humanize: 15% (-ish) Auto vibrato: 25% (-ish)

Did you add reverb in the instrument mixer track? The instrument have a very short reverb tail on them
@bemusi
@bemusi 4 года назад
Hey Afif Yoga Pradana, yes at 9m44s into the video you can see the plugin setting for Chromoverb. I used this so you can hear how it sounds not just with reverb but with a Logic reverb too. For this example the reverb is on a bus send not the instrument track. There's actually two reverbs a very short one to give a subtle room sound and a slightly longer one to give more reflection and depth. Thanks for watching the video and hope that helps!

Great video! I had a question, if you choose a horn section, can you adjust the individual volumes and pannings of the instruments (ie. louder sax, trumpets panned to right)? Or are you stuck with whatever it came with, meaning you'll have to create your own track stack? Thanks!
@bemusi
@bemusi 4 года назад
Hi John Argosino, yes you are correct if you want to create your own mix balance the best way to go is create multiple instances, pop them in a track stack and then play the entire section from the track stack channel. That way you can add your own verbs/fx/pans and levels to each individual instrument from your created section. Hope that clarifies for you.

i keep finding features in the new logic i really like, things are placed differently and some of it is more helpful, like some of the options when you add a new track, but i think the coolest thing over all is the new plugins, like alchemy is just insanely powerful, i can't believe they've made it a native synth, haven't tried the horns and strings instruments but they don't seem half bad
@bemusi
@bemusi 6 лет назад
Hey Tyler J, value for money with LPX is huge but more importantly the suite of plugins, instruments and functionality gets better and better all the time. You're right Alchemy is a huge plus for LPX and is an amazing instrument, I'd say easily up there with the big expensive synth plugs. You'll love horns and strings, not perfect but used correctly is a great addition to any Logic session! Thanks for contributing to my channel :)

Great video! I don't understand why Logic only displays one octave at a time even when there are more keyswitches.
@bemusi
@bemusi 6 лет назад
Hi Mark, thanks for commenting on this video too. I'd agree it seems a little strange. I wonder if they have done that so Logic users on 13" screens can always see the key switches easily? Perhaps when two octaves are displayed it all gets too small? That's the only reason I can think of because you're right it does'n't make sense. I've not found away of displaying both octaves yet. Having said that for me I think I'd more likely use the midi controller and piano roll to change the articulations.
@markcox5385
@markcox5385 6 лет назад
stoneymusicman I'm using my midi controller but it would be great to see all the switches at once until I've learned where they are. @thelateraledge
@thelateraledge 4 года назад
I guess you will have to bounce that note to audio and stretch it using flextime
@bemusi
@bemusi 4 года назад
Hi Liammurphyvideo, thelateraledge makes a good suggestion bouncing out the note and stretching. That's probably the way I'd do it; you could also import that one note into the Quicksampler and create a loop with fades. Wouldn't be perfect but could work too. It's a little frustrating as horn players can hold for a lot longer than the sample length is.

Hey. I’m on Logic 10.7.2, and I can’t find the studio horns plug-in menu. The instrument appears, but I can only see the Sampler, not the black slide with Articulation at 0:44. Any advice?
@bemusi
@bemusi 2 года назад
Hi Jonah Babei, because of work I've not upgraded yet but my initial thoughts are that it seems like a bug? I know Apple is now calling it Studio Brass so double check that name is in the menu (I might be wrong though)? I'd also check the path to the samples is correct. When I've download new versions in the past it's always messed up the location folders of my samples, including the Logic samples, I get new download messages, Logic thinks the folders are empty. Once I set the paths again it's fine. I'm not saying that's your issue but do wonder if it's something similar. Especially as you're seeing the instrument as Sampler? I've just check on the website and the Studio Brass/Strings GUI is still there. Have you tried looking in the Legacy folder? Worth a shot? It does sound like a bug to me. Hope you get it sorted and sorry not to be more helpful.

@bemusi
@bemusi 6 лет назад
Hi Gabriel, thanks for the question I guess the best way to do it would be to load multiple instances and select solo instruments to create a horn section of your size and choosing. Once you've done that you could set them all up in a Track Stack and play all of them at the same time from the Track Stack or programme them individually on their own track. Hope that helps? :)

@bemusi
@bemusi 4 года назад
Hi Sarah Thordsen Music, thanks for your question. I think you're referring to the library I mention at around 4m50s? If so there should be a button in the top left of the arrange page that you click on and you should be able to see a menu appear that contains all the downloaded content with presets of different instruments. If you can't see the library button you can simply right click on any light grey space in the top menu area and you should see an option menu appear that says 'Customise Control Bar and Display' (you can also get to this menu via View found at the very top of the window. Once you select Customise.... you'll see a new window pop up where you can check Library from the Views list. If Library is un-checked it won't appear in the Main Arrange Window. Hi ameerkat, the only thing I can think is that the notes might be catching each other? Check the note lengths don't over lap or are overlapping? It shouldn't make any difference to be honest but worth a look. Also the velocity of the note might be very low? The only other thing I can think of is if two midi notes are catching together at the same time if the part is written with more than one voice together at the same time on the grid and the instrument is in monophonic? I've not experienced it dropping out so fear it might be a bug? Hope you get it sorted though and thanks for watching the video.
