Big fella u are a hammer legend! I just did a 30 day series where I recorded mixed and mastered and edited a video and released it every day, and without your help I wouldn’t have been able to do it! So thank you mate.
You're the only channel on YT that goes into this much depth but remain crystal clear and to the point. You deserve even more subs and patreon love! You've saved my arse so many times it's ridiculous!
Wow, you are just a real master, great communication and teaching idea, technically perfect, just amazing. I have two part time jobs outside music production, and I'm always improving my skills production by just following your tutorials during car transition at work. You have been a great help.
THANK YOU! The snap to relative/absolute was something that has driven me crazy for years. I knew there had to be a way to make audio snap to a bar etc. Doh!!!!
Wow looking at the comments below say it all. This video was awesome for anyone but especially for a new person! Thanks, I have struggled with copying and pasting - this clears it up. Cheers
Top Tier Tips! This is great. i am in school for Audio Production, and in addition to PT, we have used LogicX a lot, and wasn't taught any of this! Subbed! Thanks so much.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
I know this is an old vid, but still very helpful. One thing I wanted to mention (and no, I have no affiliation to this company) is that using a Stream Deck for many of these key commands is a great thing. For me having 3 (or even 4) things to press on the keyboard is too hard for me personally. SD is just hit a button and done. I thought it was worth mentioning to go along with the great info you provide with key commands.
Great as always. Thank you 🙏 Just a tip for absolute / relative snap… assigning a shortcut to it is useful BUT, you never know what is selected, if absolute or relative, so, anyway you need to click on that menu to know where you’re at, and that’s really painful for our workflow. I found a workaround for it. I assigned absolute/ relative snap to a button on Logic Remote on my iPad, I can now instantly see if it’s turned on or off. Hope it helps.
Ohh damn i didnt know #6! That could have save me some time! I love that you mention the snaps mode, i do a lot of live drum editing and cuantizing in general, and had already assign the key commands for snap to grid into my trackball for even faster workflow. My method is that i always use the division setting, and only use the snap to grid option on/off in the upper key of the trackball, and i have assigned "4,5,6,7" in the keyboard to change the division of the project to 4,12,16,24 notes relatively sol i can snap to the grid i want faster. I've been using logic pro for 6 years now, and still fall in love with every little discovery that makes my life so much easier haha Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much my brother. I think your videos are awesome. I’ve programmed many shortcuts for my use with Batch Commander for Logic Pro. I used to use Ravens, now just a touchscreen monitor and Batch Commander, and loving it. I’m not sure if laptop Logic Pro users would dig it though, maybe, but I hope you don’t mind my mentioning it to folks.
Hi, Thank you for this video. Can you tell me how you create the click zones on the video ... i do it in the description but i don"t see it while the video is playing. Thank you for ur help. DRJ;)
Excellent video. Very useful. Funny I found an answer to a question I had regarding the shuffle mode. I found it weird that the shuffle L mode doesn't allow you to insert sections but it does move material to the left if you cut some thing out. So I gather you don't need to set the drag mode to shuffle L when you insert a section as you described in this video. Thank you for solving this mystery for me. Looking forward to more of these informative videos.
I noticed that the insert section works great when it's global, however when I try to insert a section on a particular track it does not push content to the right to make room for the newly inserted section. Is there a workaround?
This is amazing, but I’m kind of new to Logic now, to me it would be helpful to slow down a bit and play the results so I could actually tell what it does.
At 7:43 you say "you can right click and choose slice at transient markers" but what if I have a third tool assigned to right click? My right click is the scissor tool-how do I get right click options with third tool enabled?
When I go to divide my grouped drum tracks, when I go to divide them and zoom in, my audio stems aren’t cut all together. Some are longer and some aren’t. Aren’t they supposed to be cut all together and at the same length? How do I fix this?
I created a template with a number of tracks, but one track is now playing on ALL tracks. I have a feeling it’s a simple edit function, but have yet to figure it out. Another issue is in articulation sets, I can’t seem to change articulations using the mouse pointer on assigned notes (blue keys). Thank you
I'm over Avid's corporate greed and blatant rip off subscription models but I've never liked Logic for audio editing. What is the best advice for a long time Protools user who loves its audio editing capabilities switching to Logic and getting into its very different audio editing? Keep up the great work.
PT definitely has a great editing worklflow. I can't deny that. But if you get used to using jus the main pointer tool, and the marquee tool, and use just those 2 tools efficiently, you can do about 90% of editing tasks. I put out a more recent video about all of the "hidden" features of the marquee tool. You might want to check that video out. You can use it for selection, separation, copy/paste, setting locators, etc. The one editing task I miss from PT is the ability to quickly cut up drum recordings that are a little out of time, and quantize the clip positions, then the "smooth edits" function in beat detective. Logic's Flex Time is very capable, but I don't like how it works with multi track instruments, like drums. Single track or 2-track time correction is great though.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy thanks so much for your comprehensive reply! I absolutely love the easy to use clip gain in Protools for doing radio preproduction work and find Logic's clip gain a pain to use. Am I missing something with regards to the way Logic's clip gain works as opposed to Protools excellent implantation?
@@madness8556 Clip gain in PT is the same as Region gain in Logic. It's one more button click, but you can adjust the region gain of multiple regions at the same time. Just select a region or multiple regions, then press "I" to open the inspector panel on the left side. In the "region" inspector at the top, you can add or reduce the gain of the selected clips. You can even double click and type in a value if you like.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy thanks for the reply. I'll discipline myself and use Logic exclusively for my next project! I'm furious at Avid and it's corporate fascist behaviour.
Thanks for your tutorial ! Really Appreciate it ! I could not find the function that you suggested as Comm"End" to transfer clips from Live to main window .. Could you pls give the name of that function SO I can create a Shortcut? Thank you !!
Nice tips MusicTechHelpGuy. Would you happen to know why, after recording audio and then clearing it with undo (because it was a bad recording), the file size of the project becomes unreasonably large? It happens to me all the time - I record a bad take, then undo to get back to square one, and then I save the project and the file size increases as if audio was recorded. Everything was undone, so the file size shouldn’t have increased. Thanks in advance for your answer!
Hey, I'm not him, but I can still help you out there. When you hit undo after a recording, the region gets removed from the track area but stays in your project folder. This is in case you would want to redo the region in the future. To clear out all that, just go to the project media section in Logic on the top right, hit the edit dropdown and select "select unused". Delete the files from there. Then, you can go into project management under the file tab in the top left and use clean up and delete unused to send all those files to the trash. Hope that helps!
@@SannivasReddy Wow, thanks... it totally worked! I went to File>ProjectManagement>Clean Up... Shoot, I kept deleting my project after every bad recording. You definitely helped! Thanks!
