if u think he’s an astro shill do u not think he is just lying ab the product? if u think he’s a shill (w/ a biased opinion) why would you watch their review on a sponsored product? are u a drift0r fanboy?
I'm currently using the A50 Gen3 and love them. This is a bit overkill port whise but I love everything else about it. I work from home two days a week so I love how light A50s are and I'm often in meetings so I can't wait to try the new mic. I can wear them for 8h+ without getting annoyed and then some for another few hours of gaming. I'll be upgrading to the A50X for sure. Can't believe it took so long to get an upgrade from Gen4.
A50's have always been the best headset for gaming in terms of comfort and battery life but the biggest drawback to the old A50's was the mic. Glad to hear it's been improved a ton! Might have to pick up a pair :)
@@audie-cashstack-uk4881 The look on peoples faces when they realize they could of spent 40 quid on Chinese IEMs with better clarity, detail retrieval, imaging and soundstage as well as being generally well balanced without those horrendous frequency peaks.
Okay, Is it just me or when I heard that intro music I fully expected to hear (without even a second thought) “Hey what’s up, MKBHD here…” 😂😂😂 great review!
About not being able to directly listen to the A50x through USB that is a positive for me, I had the Sennheiser hd670 and when I would plug them in they would be recognized as a separate pair of headphones wich was really annoying having to switch the audio output not only when gaming but also when I would record in OBS, I do not have any experience with the A50X but this feature alone is a BIG win imo, not to mention if I would want to record from my PS5 i wouldn't have to mess with the outputs when switching from the PC. Thank you for reviewing them and shedding some light on the topic.
Just bought them last month, HUGE UPGRADE from Astro A50 Gen 4 ps4 version. Sound quality Mic clarity Connectivity > is way better than old model. Using only for ps5 atm but i am very happy with my purchase :)
I was a big fan of the A50, but then later decided on the Nova Pro because I could use my PS5 and PC without an adapter. If I understand correctly, the new A50X station works in such a way that the signals pass through there and the PS5 and also the PC are connected there. I use both devices on a separate monitor. Would that mean that I would have to change the station's outgoing HDMI cable every time? As I understand it, a port leads from the station to the monitor, which is then used. I can hardly imagine that Astro thinks that everyone only uses one monitor/TV. I would be happy to hear back from people who may have a similar setup!
I hope they make custom base stations. It should really still have the optical cable and 3.5mm jack options. That enabled the last gen of A50s to hook up with many more devices.
After stepping away from gaming I want a new headset. my a40’s are very old and have been my go to. I got steel series nova 7’s and am giving to girlfriend. I feel blessed you did a review because I know you have had all the others and would give an accurate opinion.
This headset is tempting for me mostly because it has an amazing mic and the Graphene Drivers. I care a lot about having a good mic for my wireless headset and slightly more for better audio quality, mostly with directional and positional sound and less on the quality for music. The most important thing I care about is comfort, however and seems it's rather good on that too. Plus it being easy to charge. I have the Arctis Pro wireless since 2018 or so and it's been having issues but I never wanted to get rid of it because of it being very comfortable and the ability to swap out my battery but if I can just drop it on a base to charge it, that's even better.
This headset is only valid if you have multiple systems in the same area. If you only have 1 system, there's better more affordable options. It's actually not great on PS5 aince it can't use tempest 3d for headphones, only tempest 3d for tv speakers (which sounds terrible in headphones).
How long have you waited until they send it to you? I ordered it on December 17 and they still haven't sent me a confirmation of when they will send it.
Was his channel always driftor? Could’ve sworn it was something else. Also I remember you promoting the A40s from 2011. I bought them then and still use them now. Best headphones very happy
They're just popping in the same "graphene" drivers from other headsets but market it more premium. Logitech make usable mice but everything else I'd avoid, especially audio.
It's actually not the same driver, they made the driver smaller than the one in the X2 Pro so they didn't have to change the housing for the A50s 😂 Definitely the cheapest refresh I've ever seen.
@@TheQuickyouknow lol that's funny, I glossed over the fact that they made the driver smaller. Definitely wouldn't help the already bad soundstage of the Logishit Pro X by having a smaller driver and shallower pads. Or they went the route of somewhere around -4db on the midrange and boosted treble for a fake hollow sounding soundstage.
I'm part of the "niche" audience, in that my PC and PS5 are in the lounge, and I use them on the same TV. I have a headset I use for the PS5, via a dongle, and one for the PC via BT. This would make life simpler for me. However, at $750 AUD it's a hard no on that price. It's not released here till Feb either. If the price was about $500 AUD I'd consider it, but not at that $750 AUD.
The whole separate place on a desk for the pic is so middle class ponce my pc my console my Sonos my sound blaster g6 my controllers my headphones my recliner are all in the living room connected to a Oled 4k hdr
It doesn't work great on PS5 though. If you use 3d audio, you have to either use USB audio only (which is lower resolution than hdmi and you will lose game to chat mix) or you have to use tempest 3d for tv speakers (which sound terrible in headphones so you're better off not using spacial audio). The Nova Pros have 2 USB ports which may work for your setup. Plus it's always on sale somewhere.
The headset has bluetooth. You are incorrect. You can use on the go. My issue is all the wires required & some reviews state the bass lacks impact & the sound signature differs from previous Astro A50s.
No he is absolutely correct. The base station has bluetooth. It's not actually in the headset. So you can't go away from home let alone more than 10 meters from the basestation with just your headset and phone and get Bluetooth.
Weight usually tends to be a sign of quality. I know as of late, a lot of companies do weight reduction on production for the consumer. It's not to save on costs but weight can still signify reliability depending on the product. In the case of that station, it stays where you leave it, unless moved. It might even survive a toss across a room or two. Your walls may suffer.
I do have a PS5. Been using the Gen3 version of the A50's. Just wondering if the sound quality will be "that" much better. Thanks for the vid!! @@Drift0r
So on xbox series x , I feel the turtle beach stealth pros have a way better sound stage and hearing footsteps from a further distance. No anc on these I can hear people talking as with the tb pros with anc is nicer I think. I will say though these are more comfortable for sure
Can I connect it to my PC and Xbox, and then use the main/game sound from Xbox and connect it to my PC simultaneously via bluetooth so I can watch RU-vid videos while I play on my Xbox?
They are definitely overpriced for me only pc gaming BUT they are the only wireless gaming headset with a decent microphone that does NOT have noise isolation/noise cancellation. Noise isolation/noise cancellation causes my ears pain and I swear all of the wireless gaming headsets are all closed back with noise cancellation
In theory you can have connected to a PS2 as well… when you have a PS2 connected via an Upscaler like the Retrotink 5x for example… Also a PS3, Xbox 360, Dreamcast, snes, mega drive, etc. I assume it would extract the best sound possible of those consoles
im looking into a new headset so naturally ive watched a few reviews on these. from a viewers perspective ill be completely honest. when i hear "I recommend" followed by "Logitech sponsors this video" huge red flag as to how reliable the review is.
I’ve had the headset for 3 days. And only get a headache. No matter what you turn off and put down. It’s RUSHing all the damn time. It stays the same loud all the time. Unless you also adjust to hear your voice. Then the noise is 4 times as loud. Does anyone have a solution. How can this be fixed? Even if the dock has no power. The headset is noisy.
My question would be, can you use chat from one console why playing on another system and have the sound from both. I believe the answer is no because of not having a fiber optic in port.
So do you know how the “old” A50’s had a HUGE connection/charging issue and it’s very tricky to get around wether that’s hard resetting, updating firmware on computer etc (Iykyk the struggle) anyone that has/had the new x version, does it still have that issue?
So I can't charge this with a power bank? Also I can't take these for a drive, connect to my phone and listen to music? DAM so the a30 can do more for less? So unreal.
Is it just me or are these unavailable for purchase yet? I’ve been on the site multiple times for days and it never loads to allow an add to cart button. Wanting to use the discount code but it won’t even let me buy them. Anyone got any advice or information on this that can help? Thanks in advance
I absolutely love mine. As of far the best sounding gaming headset I've had my second fav is my skull cady headset as far as I know people can hear me fine on this head set on the phone and in the game
@@Drift0r it's all good, wireless headsets have vastly improved in audio quality anyway. so it's not a big deal anymore. Also... I just got the Sennheiser HD 800 S and have decided to keep them and just buy all the accessories i'll need to game with them 🥲... damn near thought about returning them to get the A50X... but naaaaah. we in too deep. THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE!
i already boxed mine up to send back. they sound like crap compared to Maxwell or TBSP. also i can't believe how small the ear holes are, my ears started to hurt within 5-10mins. they are sized for children
@Rez1198 think you typed that backwards... also I have 4 different brands currently and the new astro are super small. Even compared to my A40s and old A50s. These new ones are child sized.
Is it just me, or does this guy look for every excuse he can find to use the word "NICHE" in his videos? Every video, all I hear is blah blah blah niche, blah blah niche.
