Thank you for the nice and concise review. I just bought it and I'm looking forward to using it once it arrives! Hopefully I can take advantage of all the nice perks it has.
I literally bought the old MX keys a week ago, it was having that backlight issue where it just goes on and off when im knowhere near it. Was thinking of doing the workaround where you open it up and disable the proxiy sensor. Luckily saw this new model so returned it and go this one. So far no backlight issue. Although it looks the same the internal hardware looks to have been improved.
Thank you. I came here for the same reason. I have owned the other one for over a year and was wondering if they ever fixed the backlight through the app. I guess they did it on purpose to make us buy the newest one. Lol, oh well. I might get the new one for home and take the older one to work.
Well, it makes me angry in the old version, not the S. I never got to get the manual brightness or the backlight duration or the information on the corner left side of the battery percentage :(I have the Mx key and the Mx master 3 I was waiting for that in the software update, not in new hardware.
One thing I hate about the MX keys series is that the F keys row is all connected. I'd like to have spaces beteen F4,F5 and F8,F9. I have a sticker on my F5 key for better visibility, but I just can't blind click F5 to reload because of the lack of a gap.

Thank you for the very good and thorough video on this keyboard. I already own the MX KEYS and was trying to see how the new "S" is different, and I think you answered my questions. I have to say though, from one computer geek like me to a computer guru like yourself, man I encourage you to learn to type with all 10 fingers instead of just 3. And the next level...learning to type without looking at the keyboard. Just some thoughts, no insults. :)
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. I have the MX Keys and need to order another one but wasn't sure if the MX Keys S was worth ordering. This video was very helpful and I plan to order the MX Keys S.
@@TomasRamoska I don't know Tomas. I have the regular MX KEYS. My F6 & F7 are keyboard brightness, not the dumb ass smile emoji and vocal speak F Keys. And my F3 & F4 Keys show the Task View and Action Center rectangles and quad views of apps currently open. Hers in the video show the emoji smile face on F6. She has the new one.
Changing the size of the left SHIFT was a deal breaker for me. I am HEAVY on that SHIFT and kept missing it. Back it went..... pity. The bigger RETURN is a good change but not enough to change my mind. (5:05) - The search continues.
I got one for the office and right away had to get another for home. They're great just like the MX Master series mouses. Logitech is my go-to brand for computer peripherals and I can't recommend them enough.
Thanks for the review it was perfect, I just got the normal MX Keys (not as) today ! then i found out about the new S, thank god the only new thing is the emoji shortcut and the auto backlight, all other functions in the original MX Keys. Great review
I am pissed they took away the F3 & F4 Keys showing the Task View and Action Center rectangles and quad views of apps currently open. The stupid emoji face button took its place. I might still get the new S version because I was looking at getting a new keyboard for work...and one to match what I have at home so I get used to using just one kind of keyboard.
@@coolguy1873 but I mean will that keep the back-light on permanently? I just got the keyboard and in settings you can choose to keep the back light on for half an hour so not sure what all these comments are about. Unless its an older version of the keyboard or maybe the software has been updated
i love the k800... ive gone through 2 of these keyboards.... i bought 1 for my dad and 1 for my brother... my brother doesnt like his as much... and my dads is having a strange connection issue unfortinately. however mine has never failed other than dropping them and beating the hell out of them from those drops. sometimes shit happens.... i wish they would just make a new k800 with updated electronics ect. i use my keyboard in my lap and hang it up on a tray... so it would be awesome if it had the palm lip still and i do like the extra space all the way around the board.
Sounds like they've just taken the old MX Keys and fixed all the known issues with the backlight randomly powering on throughout the day even when nowhere near the device. Looks like it was a design issue with the original device not fixable in firmware. Of course Logitech would never admit to that, just quietly release a new product thus saving face :)
yeap, I still have an old version with the backlight randomly powering on, and in the new logo options, there are no brightness settings for old mx keys. So if I want to get rid of the brightness bug, I need to buy a new keyboard))))
@@edwedwdsdsddsds I haven't used the backlight much as its been bright enough to not have it on. I imagine I'll start to use it more as the winter months set in and it gets darker. However, my set up means I've got the USB-C charger just an arms length away and can plug in and charge when using it, so if battery life ever comes an issue, that'll sort it. From what I've read though, its supposed to be a good battery life with backlight on
I've been using this keybaord for 2 days now, with brightness at 20% and backlit duration of 30 seconds and from a full charge the battery is already at 80%. I'm considering to return it.
@@edwedwdsdsddsdsI still have it. 10 seconds backlight on at 20% from dusk to dawn only it lasts about 4 weeks. Same situation but leaving it on during the day lasts 2 weeks. Not very satisfied with the battery but it's a pleasure to use so I kept it.
I just bought this because I couldn't find the graphite color in the shops of the magic keyboard but now I used it I like it better! as I used also an mx mice. it's comfortable to use I like the typing feedback
I have the old MX Keys and it's a really good keyboard. My only complaint is the DOWN arrow key got worn out within 4 months time. (There's a white circle instead of the arrow now). And the space gray finish above the arrow keys looks worn. But all other keys and parts are as good as new after one year.
I'm buying one of these MX keys(full size, NOT the mini) right now. It will replace my Logitech K350, which is very good but no backlight and getting kinda old.
@@edwedwdsdsddsds I'll say so far I have to charge it approx every 3 weeks with heavy use. When the battery is getting low the backlight won't come on and I get a red, blinking light. Takes about 2-3 hours to fully charge again. It's a fantastic keyboard well worth the money.
Nope, but you can customize and add it or should I say you can switch the snipping button on top of the divide key on the number pad to print screen. I've just tested it and it works fine.
This is an advertisement not a review. No mention of the tiny left shift key which makes it a pain to use (particularly annoying as the US version has a big shift key) . Or that the keycaps wear through quite quickly and finding replacement keycaps is a pain. Or the various arrow key problems the MX Keys keyboard had - have they been fixed? You might as well work for them.
Hi! Sorry that this video was not the kind of review you were looking for. This product is more of a standard office keyboard so wouldn't come with removeable keycaps normally so I didn't think to mention it. We often create first impressions reviews like how well it works out of the box and what new features it has as opposed to long term use reviews. We are also a store so we mainly show what the product looks like out of the box and what it's like to use to let you know if it's the product for you rather than in depth tests over a longer period of time.
You definitely know your stuff. I've been feeling pain on my left pinky while typing and I thought that I was just not used to the new keyboard but you made me realized that it's more of a design flaw than not being used to typing on it. I'll return it if I don't adapt in a week.
I do wish that Logitech or Microsoft would make a Windows keyboard without the number pad. This would save a lot of space on the desktop. We do need dedicated up and down arrows, Home End Del etc
Great video. Does anyone know if MX Keys S feels same as old MX Keys or possibly a little more softer/lighter to press? I like everything about the old MX Keys but wish it's just a hair more lighter to press the keys.
@@juanpablotorresgodoy7111 damn that sucks to hear. I love the older version and wanted to get the identical new one for work too. Let me know if it is so different that it would irritate me. Lol
I am considering getting this keyboard next month. I use the Print Screen function very often, and being that the bluetooth switch function is in its place...I have to wonder if the Print Screen key was moved to another location or removed entirely.
Question, does this keyboard have an applications key on it? Thinking about getting this. I hope it has an applications key because I use it with Reaper on Windows.
Hi! You can change the function keys and some of the action keys to perform any function you want in the LogiOptions Plus app. I set some of mine to open apps like Premiere Pro and Teams
Nope. The mouse and keyboard will only switch if you remove the dongle that they both connect to and plug it to another computer. I wish there was a smart action to synchronize option for the mouse and keyboard to both switch using one click on the keyboard(the switch button at the bottom of the mouse is ridiculous and I don't think anyone likes flipping it to switch devices).
Is there some kind of version of this that plugs into the computer? Or something similar? I'm looking for a quiet backlit keyboard that plugs into the computer, surely Logitech has SOMETHING for me.
@@luminous6969 It doesn't work with the usb cable. Someone asked it here and I was curious. So, I removed the usb bolt receiver, turned off Bluetooth and tried it with the cable only and it never worked. I thought that the cable or the ports might've been the issue. So I switched the cable and tried all the 12 usb ports that my Asus maximus z790 dark hiero motherboard+corsair 5000d offer and none of the port+cable worked. I'm disappointed because I expected better.
So Logitech could add these new functions from the MX Keys S to the old MX Keys via a firmware update to the Logi Options + software, but choose not to in the hope that people buy the practicality same keyboard?
If you have it plugged into the dongle say on the pc, and paired with BT on a mac... If you press 1/2 pair buttons will it switch - or is that only for BT paired devices?
You can only pair it with up to 3 devices whether dongle or bluetooth. I paired it with 3 dongles and thought that I could add 1 more bluetooth device but it didn't work because there is no option to add a 4th device. I just had to erase one of the 3 devices connected through the dongle and then pair the new device via bluetooth. By the way, it can't connect via usb as some liar said here. You need a dongle or bluetooth. The good thing is that I can connect to my BIOS via the dongle but it does not connect to BIOS without it(bluetooth doesn't work in BIOS). It comes with a dongle and if you already have the MX Master 3S, you can use 1 dongle to connect both the mouse and the keyboard at the same time up to 6 logitech logibolt compatible devices to save usb ports.
I have the old Logitech MX Keys and some of the keys (keys f and dash) are not as responsive anymore 😔 I really have to dig into each key for it to work.
nope. I wasn't going to comment anything here but I read your post which didn't receive any response. I received my keyboard few hours ago and I thought that it was time to do some tests based on questions here and I can say that I'm disappointed that it doesn't work as a wired keyboard. The keys are louder/noisier than the Master MX 3S clicks. My fingers hurt just typing on it. I wanted this version over the ergonomic one just because of the backlight. I'd buy the ergonomic version right away if it a backlight version gets release.
Actually I felt that it was hard to tell from the video what the new features actually are. I was constantly thinking like "wow that sounds cool - but wait....I've got that already..! " :P
noun 1. a unit of linear measure equal to one twelfth of a foot (2.54 cm). "the toy train is four inches long" 2. (as a unit of rainfall) a quantity that would cover a horizontal surface to a depth of one inch, equivalent to 253.7 cubic metres per hectare. "more than four inches of rain is expected"
I got a pop-up message from Logitech to upgrade my software and ever since my function keys are completely screwed looking into this I found a lot of other people with the same problem there's no way to fix it and there's even a support group now trying to fix this f*** logitech
Me too! I struggled with this set up device for a while because it can't download the software update on work machine. There is an offline version (someone posted a link to download it on reddit) and using that offline exe solved my issues.
0:58 " making connection quick and painless process" ^^ Logi bolt and unify is the most painful process. Sometimes doesn't matter what you will do it will not connect.
@@tycanuck He said sometimes and I just experienced it for the first time with Logibolt, but I had a lot of experience with the unify. It does indeed happen SOMETIMES.
Thanks very much for that review. Please, a lot of your viewers are not 'English natives' (like me... I'm French) and even if we are pretty fluent, it woud be nice if you speak a little slower 🤨😁😀
This IS the new one all throughout the video. I know they look practically identical, but if you watch the video through then you'll see me talk about what's new 😂😂
