Hey, thank for doing these videos. You are probably the only one who clearly said 3S and 3S for Mac were identical, except for packaging and the dongle. However, there were so many comments on youtube about bluetooth issues with mac, and the 3S being not compatible with Mac OS, and I couldn't find any information about 3S compatibility with old Macs. My very first MX, a while back, was tracking so erratically on my macs and I ended up giving it to the 'windows guys' in our office! Today I went ahead and purchased an MX3S (Not the 'for mac' version) and paired it with a late 2012 iMac running Catalina and 2015 MBP running Monterey just via bluetooth. So far so good! Silky smooth mouse tracking, and the logi options + app, on top of all the fancy customisations, allows dragging content from one computer to the other when both the computers have the app installed and on the same network; bit of a moot situation for the macs because of the availability of airdrop, but would be awesome on windows I guess! Thought this might help others like me and hence the long comment!

Just bought the 'PC' version for my Mac Mini M2 in white and used the bolt connector to the Mini's USB-A port to benefit from higher poling rates than over bluetooth and to leave bluetooth bandwidth free for other things. Oh...and saved 20 bucks in doing so. Thanks for the video!

Just ordered a regular one (by mistake) and will be using it with my Mac. The customer support said it shouldn’t be a problem. This video is reassuring as well. Fingers crossed.

If it weren't for the discussion below I would be in doubt, if I can use MX Master 3S for Mac instead/equally good as I used my MX Master 3S. But now I am relaxed, I can use both mouses on my PC with Windows system. Am I right? Or it is to early to open my new package with MX Master 3S for Mac?

I came here for some info on issues on lagging issues. This video is solid, and the comments helped me figure out my problem. I was using an older Mac Pro laptop. This older Mac is the only one with issues with this mouse. Editing is flawless with this mouse. I bought a second one for our new laptop since my daughter and I are editing and creating simultaneously. There are no issues with this mouse now. The Old Mac laptop is now being phased out for us. Do I get both if I have both Mac and PC or just the MX 3S with the dongle? What are the MX3S limitations when it comes to Mac?

So if you buy the Mac version and want the Bolt receiver you have to pay Logitech an extra $14. Better deal is the regular version as it comes with the Bolt receiver. I have the older 3 version with the Unifying receiver. Works great even if you accidentally turn off Bluetooth.

The mac version is compatible with the bolt receiver. It's just not tincluded in the box. Your video makes it sound like the mouse only has bluetooth connection. It even has the bolt receiver icon on bottom of the mouse at 56 seconds into your video.

I wouldn't say that the cable is the limiting factor because I believe Tage everybody has a fitting USB-C cable at home

Is the MX Master 3s for Mac compatible with the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID? And is it compatible with the Logitech MX Keys Mini keyboard?

In the packaging of the Master MX 3S for Mac, you get a usb-c to usb-a converter. Its a little tab that goes on the end, its about 1cm in length so its very compact. It means there is no difference in cables between these two devices unless you want both usb-c to usb-c and a usb-c to usb-a.

is the scrolling better in the for Mac version?; I'm using a borrowed one and it irks me how choppy it feels

Is the bluetooth poll rate is only 90hz for mx master and mx anywhere? That will cuase cursor to look laggy on screen on high refresh rate screens will it not? Can you test that please?

Anyone .... does the horizontal scroll button work well and smooth on a Mac ... mine is nothing like the horizontal functiono with an Apple mouse ... I inadvertantly picked up the "non-mac" version ... was getting ready to take it back because the horizontal scrool is not working smoothly at all ... but it seems there's really no idffference in the MX 3s. versions except for the dongle and color scheme ... any input would be greatly appreciated ......

So.... The MX Master 3s for Mac can, in fact, connect tothe logibolt dongle... it just does't come with one because the bluetooth communication was optimized for mac, and since mac typically does not utilize USB-A they didn't include it in the packaging. Even in your B-Roll footage showing the Mac 3s, you can see the logibolt sign right next to the bluetooth at 0:53

honestly I think the trackpad on my MacBook 13 M2 is one of the best "mouses" I have ever used... do I really need a Master 3S?

Wait so, if you're not going to use the mouse wired (which I don't get who would when buying a wireless mouse), the "for mac" version is just worse because they don't give you the dongle option?

I had the Master 3 but replaced it with the Master 3s for Mac. The silent clicks are well worth it for me and the battery indicator seems to be more accurate when using on a Mac.

Can I use the USB dongle option while it's connected to the 1st connection (windows), then bluetooth for 2nd connection (mac)?

I got the issue that configuring the back/forward buttons as "Copy" and "Paste", that it actually does "Ctrl + C", which doesn't mean anything on macOS... And i can't configure a keyboard shortcut (i.e. "Cmd + C") neither, it only registers the "Cmd". I'm on latest macOS and Logi Options+. Suggestions anyone?

confirm, you said the 3S Mac can use Bluetooth connectivity only, but on the Logi website, they said the 3S Mac is compatible with the Logi Bolt USB Receiver (but not included).. which one is true? 2nd question, can 3S Mac be used in Windows 10 or later?

That said this was a completely STUPID marketing plan by Logitech and clearly has caused nothing but confusion among their would be potential consumers that were, like myself, interested in this mouse but had to spend time researching the differences just because their own website / marketing is not clear at all on what, if any differences there really are. I'm sure someone with common sense at Logitech asked them to ship with a USB-C to USB-A adapter (like $1 add-on) and include the LogiBolt dongle and a USB-C cable in ONE model with no variance other than the color. Having two separate products to produce surely outweighs the "benefit" of having a "Mac specific" version of packaging... DUMB!!!

I hope the 3s for Mac can still connect to dongles. I have Logitech wireless mouse that just stopped connecting via Bluetooth and had no choice but to use the dongle. It was a problem on both a desktop Mac and laptop Mac.

around 1 min mark... r u very sure the mac one can only connect via bluetooth? im sure it could connect to the usb dongle if u had one from another mouse or bought it seperatley... surely... ?

@0:54 you state that "this thing is gonna be strictly bluetooth connectivity only" but this is not true. The mac version can in fact connect through the dongle as well, it even has the BOLT symbol on the sticker right above the on-off switch (it's just not included in the box). Mind you, they cost, look, do and connect the same but the mac one has no dongle included and when asked why, the customer support's answer was "the mac one is intended for Mac and iPad, so they don't need the dongle". Make what you will out of this. 🤷

Mac version colors are just better imho, which is why that's what I'm getting.

You could take the regular one and just buy a usb-c cable. Or vice-versa, take the mac version if you like the color and just use a regular usb cable. Does anyone know if I need 2 dongles if I use the mx mouse+keyboard or can they both run trough one dongle? And do I need to install the logi SW to use Bold or does it run standalone by just plugging it in?

Yeah this is just dumb. I have a mac and bought the normal version because of the bolt connector. It's alot better connection then the bluetooth one. And the usb cable i had plenty lying around.

What a pointless product. Just buy the regular one. I've been using it on my Mac and at work on a windows PC and no complaints on either system. Why make one just for Mac?

DON'T BUY THIS. The mouse broke after a year, the right mouse button stopped working. Logitech does NOT want to repair the expensive mouse, so the service center claims that it was flooded
