I agree I've tried both and the Evoluent is better in my opinion too. I've also got the DELUX vertical and that's a great mouse for the price if you can't afford the Evoluent.
How amazing it is that Logitech hasn't a lefthand version of the MX vertical. So many left hand people I meet...... such a shame of a company this size!
I simply don't understand why not more mice have a third mouse button. Meaning a mouse button for your ring finger. I love the Logitech G600 for that because you can set middle mouse button to the third button. It makes it very easy to open link in tab or close tabs. But logitech abandoned the concept. The evoluent vertical mouse is my favorite for that alone. Even though it looks super cheap haha. I think I'm going to order one to try it out. Only thing I wish for is a mouse wheel that scrolls smooth and has momentum. The magic trackpad mouse for apple has this amazing scrolling that I wish I could have on PC. Thanks for the detailed video!
Ok, looked over your past videos and saw that you did one other comparison of vertical mice since you're 1st review of the LogiMX and the Evoluent. Are you still using the Evoluent to this day??
I actually have a different evoluent mouse that I've been using recently, a little smaller and black. (VMDM) But I switch back and forth between this and a regular mouse.
Are you still liking the evoluent a few months later? And kind of a weird question but how large are your hands? The evoluent seems like it might be uncomfortable in large hands. I ordered both mice to try them myself but I still have a few days for them to come in.
Hey how was your experience with both mice? And what is your hand size? I bought mx vertical, been using it for a couple of days and it's def better than the mx master 3, however, the shape isn't the best at least for my hand, since the arc of my hand is a little rounder than where my hand sits, so I grasp it in a way that causes strain. Also the part where the fingers sit is too flat.. My hand is 7.5 in which is the lower limit for the evoluent L, but higher limit on the M so I don't know which to get.. I just got the MX but I'm already thinking about buying the Evoluent since my pain problem is bad. It has gotten a little better now though, but I feel like it could do better.
Not for me, but one issue I have with the evoluent is at work they made me switch computers and now the software refuses to let me adjust which button is right click, which is really annoying. Which mouse are you using?
Well, my primary mouse is a Razer Deathadder 2019, which is quite ergonomic for that style of mouse. However, I've had some tendonitis from a combination of work and exercise, so I also have an MX Ergo, and now since 1 day the wired Anker Vertical mouse. The idea being to have something to alternate from when I experience wrist pain. I use the MX Ergo generally when on the go though since it doesn't use much space since it's stationary.
@@Rocket33r @Rocket33r hi! I also just encountered RSI and the anker vertical mouse has been a PAIN for computer use and gaming since the clicking is really tough. Have you found another mouse that helps with that? Perhaps/hopefully easier clicking experience? Thanks if you see this!
@@MsSuperTrue The MX Ergo is definitely quite comfortable to click due to the clicker design. I think that also certain types of exercises should help a bit with your ability to click without feeling fatigue or pain. But I think that in general most non-vertical mice should be better to click. MX Master is also a reasonable option for lighter clicks whilst still being ergonomic.
I bought both of these and I felt like the Evoluent had some glaring issues. Evoluent's wheel for me felt, and sounded really bad. The mouse was almost too vertical for me. For example, if I stand up and leave my arms relaxed by my side, they are at the angle of the MX Vertical. However with the Evoluent, I felt like I had to twist my hand to the right to use it... which isn't natural for me. Finally, the worst part of the Evoluent for me was the feel of the mouse. The cheap, plasticy feel is unacceptable for a mouse that is over 130$. The MX Vertical is not perfect (I feel like they could've made it a bit more rounded and made the left click a bit wider), but It feels a lot better than the evoluent. This is just my opinion though.
@@xBeyondMystery I'm pretty sure the Evoluent is closer to 90 degrees and the MX is closer to a 70 (don't quote me on this). These are rough estimates though.
my evoluent mouse i straight up just sand paper the whole thing it became super gripy best mouse ever no need to wait for your hand to get warm or if you are sweaty like me you can't use it at all normally to begin with... looks kinda weird but if you don't care about that i recommend it just get a fine sandpaper and got to town with it :D
The Evoluent mice all look like they should be about $5 in Walmart, I just don't understand why they insist on giving them such terrible finishes. Just mould them in a whatever colour plastic you fancy, with a slightly textured surface to the mould and then you're done.. Don't paint mice, no one likes that.
I have an évoluent small, I wish they had a Bluetooth option or at least a slim USB c option, it's a dongle annoyance with MacBook pro 2017. My boss had the Logitech, I tried but only for 5 minutes and I just like the évoluent more. I love beautiful design but... I gotta go with function. Ergo wins! I never had issues with the slippage you mention

Have been using the MS Surface Vertical Mouse (I think it's discontinued), it's showing wear and tear, recently got a Logitech MX. In my case, when using Logitech, the slanted angle causes me pain in the elbow area. The MS Surface is more vertical and still more comfortable. Based on this review, I'll try the Evoluent, see if it makes a better replacement if and when the Surface gives out.
@@FishBeeProductions what id the angle of the Evoluent compared to the MX Vertical? I have elbow issues and have the Evoluent, wanted to try something else.
THANK YOU! I have ulnar nerve pain in both of my pinkies/ring fingers, though primarily in my dominant mouse hand. I would have bought the Logitech because it's more beautifully designed...but ultimately I need the one that works better for my body. Thank you for helping me make this decision.
I have the MX mouse and its is HUGE in the hands, and I have an XL glove size hand. The mouse base is also unnecessarily tall. I need to basically squeeze my hand to grab it with my finger tips, which is more uncomfortable than a standard mouse. Also mouse pointing accuracy is poor because of the blunt grip. The clickety scroll wheel has no smooth scrolling. The Logitech MX vertical mouse only feels comfortable if my desk is lowered to my knees, so my hand is reaching at a downward angle toward the mouse, as opposed to my arm wanting to be at a 90 degree angle with the desk.
I had both mice and I compared them from a design point of view. If you use a mouse in Catia to rotate the model, Logitech is not suitable: the roller sticks out a lot and you need a lot of force to use it, which goes against the idea of ergonomics. The Evoluent mouse solves this problem because it has a convenient middle 3rd button, while ensuring an ergonomic shape. The downside of this mouse is the use of "slippery" materials, which quickly show dirt and make your hands sweat quickly. In this respect, the Logitech mouse is much smarter made, because the material sticks to the hand, but is more resistant to dirt. As for the size of your hand needed to operate both mice: if you're over 185cm tall, you probably have large hands. The Logitech Mx mouse will fit great, and so will the Evoluent, if you choose the "Large" version.
Your comparison inspired me to get the Evoluent D mouse.. (it's the latest model). The Logitech mouse is what I use now but I hate it, the middle mouse button needs an immense amount of pressure to push (over 260 grams) and I am unable to reach the forward button, and when I press the back button it feels very clunky. Pressing certain buttons constantly makes me rearrange my hand in relation to the mouse and buttons and the final nail in the coffin for the Logitech model is that the incline just isn't enough for me. I am having wrist issues for a couple of months now and I had already adjusted to keep my hand slightly vertical using my normal mouse. The incline of the Logitech mouse almost matches the angle that I already forced my hand to be in so there's zero improvement in the angle for my wrist. The Evoluent will be delivered tomorrow or sunday so I'm stoked to try it out soon. I'm already used to having a vertical mouse, but the Logitech mouse just causes my hand to tense up in a weird position and the insanely hard to press scrollwheel causes new hand and wrist pain. In the software that I use, the scrollwheel button is used about 50% of the time so it's a real issue. I'll let you know how the Evoluent mouse works for me! :)
@@solovoypasando Definitely the Evoluent D that won for me. Even though I keep having wrist issues and now developed shoulder issues despite me sitting in the correct posture. So I'm starting to look for yet another mouse type. I've developed RSI in my thumb, and I think it's down to how you have to 'grasp' the Evoluent D with your thumb to keep it in your hand. I'm looking at the Logitech Master MX models, either the 2 or 3. And also decided to start looking for a new keyboard. But before I buy those expensive peripherals, I want to try them out in a store.
@@MarinusMakesStuff Bro, have you tried trackballs? Good entry level trackball will cost you small portion of what MX Master costs and well.. they're a totally different experience. Took me ~2 weeks to get used to it, but once I did, it was quite a change, since you don't move your arm/hand at all. I'm still using a mouse (cheap anker vertical), since trackballs are slower - and can be annoying when you gotta work super fast, but switching between those two solved a majority of issues for me.
Just finished reading all the comments lol! How was your experience with both mice? I bought mx vertical, been using it for a couple of days and it's def better than the mx master 3, however, the shape isn't the best at least for my hand, since the arc of my hand is a little rounder than where it sits, so I grasp it in a way that causes strain in the middle of my palm. Also the part where the fingers sit is too flat and they'd sit unnaturally if I tried resting them on that flat part. That's why I'm thinking about ordering Evoluent D. I unfortunately saw your video after I has already ordered the MX vertical, which I was disappointed at since I got it when I saw my fingers don't rest on the mouse. What is your hand size btw? My hand is 7.5" which is the lower limit for the evoluent L, but higher limit on the M so I don't know which to get. I think that's a critical question because kinda for sure one will be most comfortable for me.
Interesting. I actually wish the MX Vertical was slightly less vertical and it would be more comfortable but everyone is different. I still think the newest MS Sculpt is the most comfortable mouse I've ever used and gives little wrist pain but sadly, they're not reliable and don't last, which is my why I bought the Logitech.
I have also bought and tried both mice. The Evoluent 4 regular size fit my hand better but the Logitech MX Vertical was nice because it has a longer thumb rest. Unfortunately the forward/back buttons are placed very poorly on the MX Vertical. They are too high on the mouse and cannot be pressed with your thumb relatively close to resting position and they need so much force to click you have to put counterweight on the opposite side of the mouse to actuate them (it's a noticeable amount more force than Evoluent 4 buttons). It almost makes you click the primary index finger button. That design flaw really turned me off the mouse. But the software is great and it connected instantly on start up via receiver and BT, which the Evoluent is slow at.
I've been using the Evoluent mouse for many years now. I've found that they work well for a bit over 2 years for me and then the primary button starts to double click on me and I end up buying another one.
this video jumped while I was listening to the Squarepusher Theme and you can be a great MC for that one :D thanks for the review. I have already the mx master and mx ergo, and I think I will end up buying the mx vertical though I hate seeing myself as a collector of expensive mice.
A vertcal mousepad may also help you out too. Orb control makes one called mouseramp. It does the same thing but with a regular mouse. I love it. Peace out.
I have Dupuytren contracture in my right hand. I had been using the Corsair Dark core pro for years. My hand just hurts too much while using it now, it wont open all the way stuck in a cupped palm shape now. I just got the Logi MX vertical yesterday. It doesn't hurt my hand at all to use. Aiming in War Thunder will take some getting used to. Seems I need to train the newly used muscle group for fine aiming. So far it's everything I hoped it would be.
Yes these two are better, I keep trying to find one better than the evoluent but haven't had much luck. My wrist hurts more on the Logitech which is a bummer because really good build quality
Evoluent mouse is gross. The plastic makes your skin sweat which makes the mouse grimy. Th logitech mouse has an oversight though, with the pinky touching the mousepad.
That's a bummer to hear. I'm considering buying the contour or logitech MX because I'm tired of using the sticky evoluent but I'm afraid the hand positions won't be as good.
I haven't tried that one yet but yeah their software is really dated as well. I'm still using the VM4R and I like it but I can't customize the buttons anymore.
