I use these for my pc and tv they support dolby dtx so the movies are full 5.1 surround effect very heavy bass you can adjust volume snd base easely on the remote, it has enough power to piss off the neighbours and make your house shake. I bought them in 2020 and very happy with them especially for the price. They are way more powerfull then a soundbar for this price
To anyone wondering why the speakers aren't working properly with 5.1 sound on PC you have to turn effects off its when there are no LEDs on that's when you get true surround sound been using it for a while now was worried too when I first got em and took me a while to find out about this
how do you turn off effects? For me I can't have all the 5 speakers working at the same time. I am using the 2nd Input connection (red and white cable) so when i go 3D it does front left and right and centre, 4.1 gives me front left and right and rear left and right but centre speaker is off, and 2.1 gives me only front left and right. So not sure how to get the full 5.1
@@mariopokupec2652 The red and white connectors (RCA) only output two channels (left and right). You need to use the other options to get 5.1. If i'm not mistaken the build in effects output the stereo signal across multiple speakers. That is not surround sound.
Nice video on point, this is my third surround speakers system the z906, In the past I had a Phillips and a Panasonic surround speakers the Logitech z906 is the best one I have so far,I got them for Christmas 2019 the z906 with the Logitech z623 also! I linked up my Logitech z623 only to my PC computer, And the Logitech z906 is linked up to my TV and blu ray player the sound quality and the bass is amazing, so much power. I only turn it up to only the fourth level that's how loud they are, I am content with these these both speakers very happy with them really, they're not really that big compared to the expensive ones the high-end ones on the market the Logitech z906 they take less space and for their size they can pump I feel like I'm in the cinema watching films can't believe I'm in my bedroom and not at the movies there are some high end surround sound speakers that are really expensive that fail in certain aspects compared to the Logitech in bass power I hope this lasts me for a long time if I move out in future if I get a bigger place I'll buy much bigger speakers the high-end surround sound something much more expensive I would do my research before I buy them, just like I did before I purchased the Logitech to be sure! the Logitech takes less space and a pump for their size cool with them. When some of my friends come to my house and we are watching a movies I see the surprise and shock in Their Eyes and the jealousy as well when they hear the surround sound in the system they asked me how much does the Logitech cost I say around 500 just a boost up the value of the z906 but really I saw them online around Christmas around 300 on Amazon and the next day i check and the price dropped from £300 to £98.32 saw the price and i purchased them straight away One thing I've got to say is they are well built strong I try to keep them clean as often, I don't have no regrets in purchasing the Logitech z906 and the z623!
@@eddypikienmai1819 Ok thanks brother I really appreciate it, yeah you cant go wrong with them really Theirs more expensive sound systems out there that don't even sound as better these! They dont take too much space small but they can pump base and they're very powerful for their size don't turn them up too loud your neighbours will be complaining lol and remember you can also adjust the bass manually also and sound levels theirs some people that purchase the Logitech z906 and they don't realise you can adjust it manually they've been optimised by lucasfilms THX certification so you know you're getting very good sound quality the sound is clean and clear my advice to you when you if you get the Logitech z906 have all the sound levels in the middle only and have the base level just one level up only from the middle you will still get clear sound and good bass range in films having the bass all the way full up can be overwhelming when you're watching films some people had this problems with their Logitech z906 some if them didn't realise that you can adjust the bass sound,To me it sounded it could of been of their first system ever, every system music system hi-fi you can adjust the bass, what I really love about these Logitech z906 the most you can turn the volume very high and there's no hissing sound or distortions!
Its pretty high quality speakers for how small they are. The satellite speakers are 65 watt RMS, which is pretty powerful comparing it to bigger car speakers that are around the same RMS wattage. Its why the sound be can real loud and still be clear. The small compact sub is 165 watt RMS, which is pretty strong for its small size sub. Single Sub sounds really loud and punchy for being 165 watt RMS.
Thanks for your work brotha man, this was a great video and not click baity or annoying. Keep up the great work, sir. I hope life is treating you well.
Oxygen free speaker wire maybe 2.5mm will probably make a world of difference in sound quality. Buying this as a semi portable thing hope it sounds good
Would this work with Mac mini? There is only one headphone out…Do you know what would be the possible connection ( Mac mini to Z906 5.1) to listen to a music and watch films in 5.1 surround sound? Let me know if you have any tricks for that. Many thanks!
Note Red and black on speaker cables like these have are not right and left. The right and left speakers have the same cables. In this case, red is positive, and black is negative.
Why didnt you try this set ? Unboxing is not that exciting as I thought by the end of this video you would play the system so we could have an idea of the quality of the sound... :(
This is an old vid now - but IMO Logitech has some GREAT audio products. I still use a Z680 that was purchased in 2002/03? It still works amazing. (looks like hell) but every feature works flawlessly... I would 100% buy these again if the quality is the same.
I'm been up the PC through AVR route with only hardship, AVR does matter when it come to HZ output and gaming, most are only capable of 60HZ to TV/ Monitor, I've found that the higher end Yamaha's will do 120Hz and perhaps higher without hijacking the the viewing monitor via your Nvidia control panel, OK but... it's only limited to one single viewing screen so if you had say triple monitors and wanted to surround them than you're going to be knocked back to only 60HZ. I've found that the only way I'm going to get 5.1 on my Sim Rig and keep all three of my LG OLED c2's at 120Hz in surround is by way of sound card and computer speakers thus leaving the RTX 3080 TI GPU to video only. If you're only viewing videos via PC than pretty much any AVR will accomplish this task. After countless hours of speaker shopping without much available, I kept coming back to these Z906 and have placed a order on them.
You probably can, but you would want to keep them the same as the sound may change when using a different speaker. The amp is designed to be used with what comes in the set.
as long as your speakers are rated 65 watt RMS or lower since the amp is design to only output that much power for satellite speakers. if you use a higher RMS wattage speaker, the volume will sound lower than it should be.
@@jcunboxing thank you for your answer. Are you sure the 5.1 surround sound system will be applied if I use it for my 4k tv.? Or the speaker just will be streo.?
Will depend on the type of content you are watching and from what. Regular TV channels will output only stereo. It all depends on what you are watching. If unsure, consult with the store you bought the TV from.
Good sound. But if you push the sound to loud. The system overheat after 10 min.Not good if you want play the music very loud.If you are in apartment that ok.
Great review. I'm looking at replacing my Edifier surround sound speakers with this Logitech setup as they have come down in price quite a bit recently.
Got told can't get 5.1 audio on PC with this unless using 3x aux cables, does it come with the 3 aux cables? Can I get the 5.1 audio surround sound on my pc with everything that comes in the box?
For movies and tv show from netflix for example, you need to use Z906 with Optical cable. for PC games you can either use Optical or 3 cable (green, black, orange) to get 5.1 sound.
Is it possible to connect other passive speakers in the subwoofer? I have 2 Harman Kardons and I would like to use them as front L & R speakers :))) Also, this may sound dumb, I have external sound card (Steinberg UR12), so I just plug Red and White cable to my soundcard and I get surround sound (I know it depends of the source ect ec.), but what I mean is, like if I play game or listen to music, all 5+1 speakers will output sound even the original source may not be for 5.1 system... I am bit of a n00b regarding surround stuff :D
no, sound source must be 5.1 and the connections must be optical or 3 plugs (green, black, orange) is only way to get 5.1 sound put on Z906. Yes you can use your Harmon speakers if it has the same wires.
What the best way to connect to my tv.TV.. noticed had 3 outputs green black and yellow for headphone.. I have optic and headphone on tv as well as the red white wires.. which is the nest set up to get max output
I see older z906 and I think thay changed the colour slightly aswell as the box and logo the rings on speakers near mesh is black now and the rear inputs plat is not gloss but now flat that's what iv noticed
yup 500 rms 8" sub= 165 watt @ 6ohm 3" sats= 67watt × 5 @ 4 ohm 165+335= 500 watt RMS but please dont expect a sound quality of 500 watt it sounds just like an average 100 bucks speaker....
Maybe Logitech should put a Stone inside the control to make it heavy so you will not HATE it ..Can't believe you will complain about the control not heavy so you don't like it ..
Hi, just bought one used without the aux cable. I used it via optic cord connected to the tv and my tv to the laptop via hdmi. I would like to connect the speakers directly to my laptop but when I tried with a single aux cable it didn't work. Can you please tell me, do I need a 3x minijack(similar to the original) to connect it to my laptop and if so it's ok if I only plug in one jack in it to get 5.1 surround sound?! Thanks
Set your laptop to output audio with the HDMI cable connected to your TV. connect the Optical (tosslink/SPDF) cable from your TV to your Z906. Go to your TV settings and change audio output to Optical. You should get 5.1 surround sound now when the Decode Lights up on the control box of Z906. remember that the audio source form whatever movie/tv show you are watching has to be in 5.1 surround sound format or else you won't get true 5.1 sound from Z906. Usually your TV app like Netflix or Hulu should be playing 5.1 audio source but you can always check it by going to audio setting on the app when you are watching movie to select which audio you want to use. It should look like this; English 5.1, English Stereo, Spanish, French. Anything that doesn't say 5.1 next to name of audio, its in stereo only.
Do you reckon it's worth it for £160 (now, 2022)? Wanna connect my laptop and LG CX to it ... would I need an external audio interface for the laptop in order to use is as 5.1?
Yea I think so! I'm still using it and loving it. hard to find something out there for your PC that's 5.1 surround. Although not sure how well it'll go with your laptop in terms of 5.1 compatibility. Might wanna check you can do that with your laptop.
@@jcunboxing Thanks for the reply James, will keep looking. between Soundbar, 5.1 speakers (Z906) and AVR + speakers.... cheapest is the z906, others imagination is the limit :)
I've had several soundbars and surround sound package but it was only when I purchased a budget AVR and a pair of budget speakers that I realised what I was missing, (stereo imaging, thumping bass plus fully enveloping soundstage imaging) besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime... surround speakers, subwoofers one can even get height speakers and have the full non virtual Dolby Atmos experience. Nowadays AVRs has so simple to setup they even walk you through the process. Remember movies are made up of 50% visuals and 50% audio and there are occasions when the audio out does the visuals.
Total noob here. So I know these speakers can easily connect to a pc, but what about a Tv? I’m buying a tv for my room and gonna have a pic and ps5 connected to it. Is that something I can pull off??
connect PS5 to TV with HDMI cable to HDMI on your TV. Connect TV optical to Optical on Z906. Then Connect 3 cables (green, black, orange) to your PC and connect it to Z906 Green/black/orange to get 5.1 sound on both. use control console to switch between the sound source; PC or TV/PS5.
Can I use the headphone output on my laptop to connect to this? Just looking to increase my laptop audio quite a bit and I just have the 3.5 mm audio out at my disposal so curious if it will work.
Yes you can headphone 3.5mm jack on your laptop to connect it to Z906. You must connect it to the control console on right side in the hole that has the music note icon next to it. you will only get 2.1 stereo sound with that connection or use 3D setting on console to get fake simulated surround sound.
I just bought this in 2022 just now with my G12th i9 desktop computer, is very powerful speakers for the computer, And I can't believe it is decade old model and still kicking ass
Great Video! I have a question about the speakers, are they labeled as "Front" and "Rear" speakers? Or you can just set them up however you want them to be front or rear?
@@jonathanleonard9507 Set 100% volume in windows, x570 is good enough. Connect using 6 channel direct cables, and configure 5.1 setup in realtek audio console in windows. You could use optical cable instead of 6-ch direct cables, if you feel like your motherboard's audio codec is suppressing the quality.
Did you ever do a review on how the speakers sound after properly placing them? I'm currently debating getting these speakers for my pc setup :) Great video btw, you earned a sub
