Ahhh the 1980s. One of the greatest decades that defined the 20th century. The 1980s is an awesome decade for films such as The Empire Strikes Back, the Indiana Jones trilogy, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Karate Kid, Back to the Future, etc., music such as "The Final Countdown", "Every Breath You Take", "Take On Me", "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)", "Total Eclipse Of The Heart", "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", "Livin' On A Prayer", the majority of Michael Jackson songs (especially "Billie Jean", "Thriller" and "Smooth Criminal"), and the list goes on and on. The logos from 1980 in this compilation are also pretty interesting. Their animations and techniques are very well done, especially for early 80's standards, such as: • the Lisberger Studios logo (1:18) with awesome animation and concept; • the AMC Theatres opening (10:43), again with a fantastically animated concept; • the Pyramid Films logo (11:58), which was first said to be first used in the late 1970s, but nevertheless, it has a fantastic use of computer animation, courtesy of Information International Inc., who also made the KCET logo in 1979. • the Pioneer Laserdisc intro (13:18). • the Paramount Television Service logo (20:12), which was also first believed to be first used in the late 1970s, but nevertheless, decently made animation (although the stars in this logo look more like circles). The same can be said for the Paramount Home Video logo (21:11) • the Ladd Company logo at 20:17, seen on Blade Runner. Very interesting animation concept. • the BBC Video logo (21:22) with a neatly animated and colourful concept. • the AVM Productions logo (29:12), which has a well made design, although it kinda gives a resemblance to the 20th Century Fox logo... • the KQED ident (45:26), which I don't know if was made with CGI or live-action effects, but nevertheless, it's a decently made ident. • ident from Globo (50:47), one of the biggest TV networks from Brazil. Over the years, Globo had amazing idents with brilliantly done animations and graphics, this one being a great example. • Lastly, the VidAmerica logo (56:19), with awesome trailing effects.
9:52 is by far the creepiest logo out of all the logos from the early 80s. It doesn't feel like a miracle at all; it's another logo with a dark atmosphere and visuals and creepy music playing in the background, which would make someone pretty uncomfortable while watching and listening to it alone in a dark room. Miracle Films produces adult films, so it's likely a great idea to scare children away from watching inappropriate stuff.
