Along with introducing Kryptonite, this episode was the first to show Lois's attraction to Clark (starting with admitting that she likes carmel apples instead of throwing out more Smallville insults). She also meets the Kents which is also alot of fun. It did seem that the Sheriff Clark went to high school with was a stand-in for Lana Lang. Perhaps they couldn't use that character for some legal reason?
That was my biggest gripe with the Smallville series, kryptonite was literally everywhere because the writers didn't know any other ways to nerf Superman.
Hey Folks. Maybe not as much as on “Smallville” but why is it that the villains on these shows seem to be able to get access to Kryptonite as easily as one can access an ATM? I realize that the writers and producers want to give Superman some disadvantages but dang.
I couldn't and I just won't get into this Version of Superman. Far to many Changes taken out the Original and not sticking to the Original Story. I don't and I won't ever understand how or why anyone would even love this TV series Louis and Clark. Again you can't change the Original as its not the same. Superman with his Cape. His Cape was put inside the Spaceship by his Father. It definitely wasn't Made by his Earth Mum As in Louis and Clark. Louis and Clark was somehow liked loved by those who had taken to that Trash,Rubbish, Garbage Story. From season one right through till the last season it was absolutely Mince Trash,Rubbish, Garbage. None of it and even the Superman Custom wasn't Convincing real enough. This series was a shambles a right mess and it had nothing in it at all to make it more real Convincing. The worse Superman ever made in my opinion. This tv series was a right let down and a right pure insult with only Crap Actors playing Characters without any Meaning. Infact it's that Bad the actors have done far much more Convincing parts in other tv series and films. This Louis and Clark is a right Insult to the Late Great Brilliant Fabulous true one and only CHRISTOPHER REEVES. HE WAS AND IS ALWAYS WITHOUT FAIL OR DOUBT GUARANTEED SUPERMAN RIGHT OUT OF THE COMIC BOOK SHELF. SUPERMAN DIRETOR THE ONLY TRUE ORIGINAL RICHARD DONNA. STOP IT WITH REMAKES AND CHANGES AS IT WONT EVER GIVE WHAT THE ORIGINALS HAVE AS INTENDED. AND TALKING ABOUT REMAKES OF SUPERMAN IVE SEEN SOME VERY GOOD ONES AFTER CHRISTOPHER REEVES AND ALSO CONVINCING. DEAN CAIN ISNT REAL CONVINCING ENOUGH. ITS LIKE HE COULDN'T BE ANOYED. LOUIS AND CLARK THE TRASH CRAP ADVENTURES.
You sound very negatively upset. You don't have to like the show, bit at least understand for the most part that it is just that: a show. TV shows, movies, even video games: they will always change things apart from the original material that it came from. Nothing wrong with that. Don't degrade something that others may have found some joy in. Thats like someone coming at you and saying that the Richard Donna movies were (as you so well put it) "garbage". Also, what is up with your typing? I'm guessing that English is not your first language. If thats the case, you should brush up on it. Honestly speaking, most of your words make it seem as if you're a teenager lashing out at a simple TV show just because they made some changes. Relax. I don't think it did. I think it was intended to show that the kryptonite's impact on him had worn off and now that he was himself again, he could hear the sound.
I think why tracks was doing all this to Superman tracks hate Superman out of fear and ignorance he feels Superman is way to powerful and he obviously think that know one should have that type of power and he’s willing to do whatever it takes and kill anyone that gets in his way. And that’s what makes him a bad guy and that what hatred and ignorance gets you and it might even get you arrested because of it.
While they got wrong how Green Kryptonite affects Kryptonians, (it doesn't remove their powers, they're weakened by it because of the extreme pain it causes) they did an excellent story with this one, one of my favourites, actually.
It's not the only series, including comics, to have Kryptonians pained AND weakened by Kryptonite. Its effects have changed with the writer ever since its inception. Kryptonite bullets for example... if they didn't weaken Kryptonains, they'd never pierce Superman's skin.
@@j.rileyindependentproductions According to the comics, Kryptonite disperses the energy field that makes Superman invulnerable, but just at the point of impact. Superman has destroyed Green K with heat vision, or blown it far enough away so it no longer affects him before. If Green K removed his powers, what's the point of Gold Kryptonite, which removes a Kryptonian's powers? Personally, I think it's the problem with allowing writers too much leeway, and not establishing core rules early on.
@@thefurrybastard1964 "According to the comics" at which point? There have been a variety of interpretations even in the comics over the several decades. Gold Krypt was introduced years later, but as a permanent removal (but not poisonous) of his powers. Blue Krypt completely removed powers but only while around (or wearing it). And even while those are the generalized currently accepted, I'm certain even they have been used in other ways. My point being, that it can make sense that his is in too much pain to fly, walk, etc... and that just like a virus weakens our immune system, the Green Krypt could have a similar effect to where it weakens him, though not to the point that his powers are completely gone... So, instead of skin of steel, maybe skin of wood? Still a ton stronger than human skin by any means, but still draining him.

The problem with keeping a fictional character on a tight canonical leash however, is that unless handled correctly, the character does not grow or change ver time, and ultimately becomes irrelevant. The CW was the worst when it comes to handling Kryptonite, however. Remember in Supergirl they had a training room for her where low level green K energy made her human? Going by what we see in the comics and movies, she should have been writhing on the floor in agony. Another thing that changed with Superman is his base powerlevel when deprived of solar energy. Early on, if his powers were depleted, he'd become a baseline Kryptonian, and while he'd have none of his powers, he'd still be much stronger, more durable and faster than a human, think 1938 Superman. Now however, he simply turns into a human. Good response by the way.
@@thefurrybastard1964 Later on in the series there are times when Superman can use his superpowers while being exposed to Kryptonite. This was his first time. The first time, when his father opened the box, he passed out. This time he just sinks to the ground.
