It's kind of funny how Lois is voiced by Dana Delany, who also voiced Andrea Beaumont in Mask of the Phantasm. So she was Bruce Wayne's love interest twice.

I recently watched it again for the first time since I was a kid, and I enjoyed it even more than I did back then. There's something so pure about its optimism... about how genuinely good of a guy Clark is, about watching his relationships with his friends, the city, and even Luthor develop. It's more refreshing now than it's ever been.

Lois Lane has always been one of my favorite characters in the comics, shows, and movies and everyone always asks why because "she doesn't do anything" but I think you've done an excellent job of encapsulating why I connect to her so much. You simply cannot have a good Superman if you do not have a good Lois. These two always are ment to be standing together as equals and have the ability to raise the others abilities like nothing else. If one is portrayed sup-par this dynamic gets lost.

Exactly, specially considering how some stories (Secret Origins, Birthright) portray Metropolis as more cynical and pessimistic place until Superman arrives, with people not trusting him at first and being influence by Luthor lies. it is Lois who, as reporter, choose to find out the truth, getting to know Superman, seeing he is good guy and in the end help him prove his values to the people and inspire them. In some ways, she (alongside Jimmy and the people of Daily Planet) represent to Clark the good aspects of people of Metropolis.

Lois Lane is the grown up version of Ma and Pa Kent. Without Ma and Pa Kent, there is no Clark Kent to become Superman and step onto the Heroic Path. Without Lois, Superman doesn't stay on the Heroic Path. It's funny how Batman has a similar story - without the deaths of his parents, there is no Batman. Without Alfred, there is no Batman. Both Batman and Superman need someone to keep them tethered to Mortality and Morality.

DCAU Lois is one my favorite versions of the character (alongside Bitsie Tulloch from Superman & Lois). I love how the show doesn't make Lois into complete damsel in distress. Sure, she gets into trouble but she gets into by trying to help Superman and when she is trouble, not always wait for Superman to escape. She takes action and tries to escape and help the hero when he is in trouble. Makes sense why someone like Clark would fall in love for her, someone who doesn't let fear of danger stop her from doing her job and helping others.

Superman the Animated Series was better than it had any right to be...and was the softer and simpler version of the comics, halfway between the Golden Age light tone, and Silver Age science weirdness. And yet...the best characterizations, most honest characters, great moments, small bits and absolutely heartfelt. Plus of course, best Lois Lane, best Lobo, Best Lex Luthor, great Brainiac, amazingly well done and terrifying Darkseid, and fantastic character dynamics to it all. For what always felt like the fluff piece animated part of the DCAU, it worked better than anyone expected...and in a sense felt like a spiritual precursor and successor to the old Fleisher Superman cartoons. They both have similar morals and values but different perspectives on the world and I like when they’re able to talk to each other openly when they need to bounce off ideas. Also I feel like the joke gets old after a while (she’s a great investigative journalist but can’t see who her closest coworker is). Not that I want to completely skip her being oblivious to Clark’s secret. For me I’d say have one season of television of her being in the dark and then letting her in on it somewhere in the second season so they can move on with the next step of their relationship is perfect. Sometimes I wish we’ve gotten a DCAU mini-series or film where Clark spills the beans to Lois about his Superman alter ego, taking inspiration and elements from the almost-revealing moment in the Justice League Unlimited "Divided We Fall" ending.(which they were so close to end off the whole story) The plot twists and turns promise an intriguing and fun premise-perhaps what’re the odds maybe someday, if they clearly go back to the Timmverse I think they should fix lots of loose ends and unfinished business to do with DCAU Superman. What do you folks think, do think a mini series can fix lots of loose ends with DCAU Superman.

as I kid I honest to God thought that at the end of JLU season 2 Lois already knew and this was just banter. Am I just dumb?

I was past puberty and thought the same thing--that it made sense to keep the "2 different people" perspective when talking about the article she'd be writing, in their office no less, but they were clearly too close for him not to have told her. Given the creative disagreement, I suspect the possible ambiguity was intentional.

Have you seen the new Green Lantern movie on HBO Max. It's actually pretty good. I feel like you'd have a lot to say about it.

Superman's entourage always feels like the most underutelized bunch, unless there's a good writer behind him. From Superman: Kryptonite by Darwyn Cooke, to All-Star Superman, and so on, some of my favorite adventures are always about Superman's personal relationships, and how they all bounce off each other, from Jimmy to Lois to Perry to Lana to Pete Ross to Lex and so on. I don't agree with the idea that Lois 'keeps him human', never liked the Snyder-take. Like this guy will suddenly become an unfeeling alien to the planet/people he grew up on/with if one person dies. But I do like to think Clark is made by his friends, to an extent. Learning from them and enjoying their company just like normal people would. Maybe it's boring on paper, but reading those parts of comics are always my favorite parts. Just Clark enjoying the company of his friends, and being himself, without need for heroics. 😌

It's interesting because Lois is kind of a hard mode character. It's easy to mess her up and hard to get the balance right. See Kate Bosworth's version. But when done right she's such an adorable egomaniacal pain in the ass, that you can see why Superman just can't help but love her. See: Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance, and Margot Kidder.

Just realized, now that Kevin's gone, there won't be any way to add world building or spinoff from this universe.
