Some great MCU content here! As always, please do not spoil anything coming in the rest of the show or in the rest of the MCU. The last half of Season 1 will be out for y'all next week. The plane stunt Loki is seen pulling in ep 1 was a real event. In the 70's a man identifying himself as D.B. Cooper hijacked a plane, demanding a ransom and a parachute. He jumped out of the plane mid-flight with a bag of cash and was never found.
I think it's reasonable to be wary of any information provided by unreliable sources. That said, the things Sylvie says about herself seem pretty reliable. She doesn't deny that she's a Loki variant, but doesn't want to be called "Loki". We're also told she's a Loki by people who would know and, to our knowledge, have no reason to lie about it (TVA agents).
@@kaiielleI think it’s understandable to want to understand everything & not trust anything but most of the time I just go with it & 9 times out of 10 they explain it later on if they haven’t already. Haven’t watched the reaction yet but it’s best not to get hung up on small details & just suspend disbelief “first thing you need to know ab multiversal travel? You know nothing”
Pasting what I replied to another comment: Oh yes I understand. Back when I watched this (a month and a half ago), I was really struggling to wrap my head around the idea of variants being that different from one another. I couldn't really communicate that within the video itself because at the time I still wasn't confident on what was being presented. In hindsight, the story is not confusing, but that's what hindsight provides us. Someone brand new to all of this that hasn't had spoilers might ask stupid questions or make weird leaps. And I'm pretty good at doing that LOL. I know that makes certain people frustrated and upset.
Honestly? The idea of Loki, God of Mischief, being DB Cooper as a bet with Thor and getting teleported out of the sky makes about as much sense as some of the theories we've seen
The elevator at 27:02 is a real elevator. It's a hotel in Atlanta. I stayed there last year JUST BECAUSE of this show. It really does look like that looking up which is wild.
Agents of shield beats it out easily 1000% for me but I love the loki show as well. Besides AOS it’s my fav. You just can’t beat AOS in 7 seasons of 20 + episodes a season at 40+ mins an episode. It’s an ungodly amount of MCU content, which I’m proud to say I watched for the first time entirely in 9 days & have since rewatched a few times, it’s in my top 10 fav shows ever maybe top 5
I finally finished Loki season 2, and decided to go back and rewatch your reaction awawawawa. Loki is such a good show, season 2 was a banger and officially made it my second favourite marvel series _ever_ right after Moon Knight. Can wait for your reaction, you're going to absolutely love it.
The 70s retro-futurism design is a wonderful decision, gorgeously executed. And the Exec-Producer credits are typically more of an indicator that they need to pay the actors more money (and the extra title is a common way of doing it), rather than a sign that they're actively involved in production. Doesn't mean they're not, but I think it's definitely more commonly an accounting thing.
That retro-futurism design goes back further than the 1970's... its more of a post war 1940's to mid 1950's aesthetic. But I agree, I LOVE it. And if you like it, you should also check out Hello, Tomorrow with Billy Crudup on Apple TV+.
@@kaiielleOften when the show's star is an executive producer it means they kicked in some of the funding to get the production made. This helps the studio to proceed by reducing their own financial risk as well as a star's personal incentive to see that the production does well.
In a previous episode, they showed how Lokis come in all shapes and sizes. TVA says she gives off the aura energy of a Loki. She wears the horns and color scheme of a Loki. She has Loki powers and they are green like his. And Tom Loki addresses her as Loki. She just doesn't like being called Loki. And you question all of that storytelling evidence.
Oh yes I understand. Back when I watched this (a month and a half ago), I was really struggling to wrap my head around the idea of variants being that different from one another. Such a long track record of comedic actors who do really well when they do drama ... Robin Williams (obv), John Candy (JFK), Adam Sandler, Bill Murray, Jim Carrey. Owen Wilson is so good in this. The Paul Newman moustache helps.
Hearing the dial up tone as she fails to comprehend a female loki. Fyi his human look is always a different look because hes a genderless frost giant in reality.
The way I understood the "Sacred Timeline" is that, the multiverse IS a thing, but each Universe has a "script" of sorts. Going off script causes a branch. That HOW we have Tom, Toby and Andrew ALL being Peter Parker but look different and are different ages. Ect, ect.
Loki as a villain in the movies was always interesting but I never really cared for him. I got into the show wondering just what would happen not expecting anything least of all to actually care what happens to Loki which ended up being the biggest surprise throughout this first season. Everything else just kept me in for the sole reason of wanting to know what would happen next because it was all very interesting, entertaining and I could never tell what would happen next. It's quite a lot of fun watching you go through pretty much the same feelings I went through as the story went. Thank you, see you again soon for whatever comes next in the show. ✌
So glad to see you enjoying the MCU again! With this show, you'll need to get used to surprises. Speaking from personal experience, it's impossible to guess exactly what's going to happen from one episode to another. And that trend will continue all the way to the end of Season 2. Trust me.
Regarding the Mandela Effect: no sci-fi supernatural hypothesis is more likely than human fallibility. Naturalistic explanations are definitionally more likely than supernatural; we know as a matter of fact that human memories are far more unreliable than we would like to admit, and we don't know as a matter of fact that duplicate realities exist or that there is any mechanism for interacting with them if they did. "I can't be wrong therefore magic" is, quite frankly, dumb.
So, fun fact. Tom Hiddleston actually gave 'classes' on acting like Loki to the actors who would be doing that. That fact just... delights me so much. But yeah, I get following release order, even if I'm aching to see your reaction to Season 2. I'll just... have to be patient, I guess ;) Still, you can't blame one trickster for getting to enjoy the work of another, right?
no sane evacuation vehicle would sit waiting to launch as long as the one in episode 3. it should've been outta there long before the first meteorite landed. otherwise, damn good television!
you're forgetting that a branched realty can occur at any moment there's a fork in the road or decision to be made. All embryos in the womb start female and then you could say a decision is made (over-simplifying... I know) that makes that fetus male. So.. a decision is made.. A variant could start because that decision on male or female does not match what the timekeepers think you should be. Loki is meant to be male, but in that case, Loki came out female (which maybe that is why Loki is bi-sexual).
Loved this reaction, and am looking forward to the rest of season 1 from you. And as a complete aside, have you been to Machu Pichu? I've never seen a photo with that cloud pattern that I remember... then again, I don't have photographic (heh) memory, I'm getting a bit on in years and might just be a wee bit drunk. Or as Loki put it, full.
So cool to have a look back at Season 1. Loki is one of best characters in the MCU. What's NOT to like about this show, right? Stick to the release order, K. Can't wait for next week! Enjoy K!
Just wanted to give you a quick Welcome Back, KL. It's nice being able to watch your unique takes on our favourite shows again. Long may it continue!!! 🙂
You speaking of Dragon Age 2 and playing ruthless. I love roleplaying rpgs and mmo rpgs as an evil race or faction. What's the fun of roleplaying if you play with the same moral compass and rules as you do in real life? lol Set me up on an evil drow or dark elf and good to go.
I like how you mentioned Mandela effects. They published a book about the timeline, and any inconsistencies were explained by Miss Minutes as "misplaced files" in the TVA, so it's pretty close to what you mentioned.
Episode 1: Kaiielle, you are too hard on yourself. You are smart enough to understand this show. But making sure you do is just one of many reasons I admire you. 💚 Episode 2: If you went to a renaissance festival, what outfit would you wear? What character would you be? 💚 Episode 3: Would you find it easy or difficult to describe love? 💚 Summary: I like this show because it creates an opportunity for countless stories. I think that all involved in making the show did a great job. I think that you are kind, compassionate, thoughtful, smart and funny, with a beautiful smile that brings people around the world to visit with you to watch movies and shows. A courageous person to do this regularly and still, only a few of many reasons I admire you. 💚💚💚 Thank you for sharing your time with us. ✌️🥰 a 🌹for you.
(I've deleted what I was going to comment three times because I keep venturing too spoilery. There's a particular moment in the back half I really hope you include in your RU-vid edit so I'm mentally trying to manifest you including it when you edit. That is all.) Argg this show is so good. It's my favorite show of Phase 4 and it might be my favorite overall project (including the shows, films and specials) of Phase 4. Your next upload can't come fast enough for me!
I usually get all the big moments but I have to be picky and choosy on the dialogue, especially when there's a lot of it as there is in this series! Thanks for watching and glad you're excited!
Great reaction like always, This show is awsome, WandaVision and the Falcon and the Winter Soldier set the standards as high as Asgard, Loki and his cheeky little persona has come along to raise that bar even higher with yet another fresh and original start that see's him toying with his own conscience. Great performances by Hiddleston's is amazing and i love wilson too and silvie is a breath of fresh air in the MCU what a perfomance, you will see in later episodes. Keep up the good job.
If you happen to find yourself in Atlanta anytime soon, you can visit the TVA headquarters at a Marriot there. Interestingly enough, that same hotel was a shooting location for some Hunger Games scenes, but you'd barely know it based on the perspectives and CGI tweaks.
“Executive Producer” in the credits can mean anything from the person running the show, to someone who just got a paycheque for not doing anything other than being someone’s cousin in law.
No spoilers, I promise. There are a lot of parallels between this show and the storyline of Bioshock Infinite. One in particular is the man and woman variants of the same person (the Lutece "twins").
Sorry to disappoint but being an Executive Producer isn't about being in charge of the show, it's so they can be paid more. Yes, the fact he's in this means he loves the character (of course he does) and that he wanted to do it, but the credit is only about money as negotiated by his agent because he's a huge star and the show needed him. Great reaction, Kaielle. 💚 (Oh, just noticed someone else said this but I refuse to delete my comment because of the work put in 😆)
Yeah, Loki and WandaVision was the best TV shows that came out. However, Loki isn't as rewatchable as WandaVision is. I think you'd get that. WandaVision you can rewatch just for the fantastic transitions through the decades of TV history. Loki, once you know the story, that's it.
Sorry, I was very much still coming to terms with the idea of variants being different genders! I just figured it was slight differences in physical appearances but mostly the same person. It looked like the all the variants of Loki that were shown still had Tom H's face.
Yeah, Miss Minutes didn't explain the "Sacred Timeline" fully, but from her pov, it was a video for variants, so WHY would she think she OWES them an explanation.
