AM: Dear friends, a horrible tragedy has happened today. The plane with team, coaches and administrative staff of the "Lokomotiv" team has crashed on departure from Yaroslavl to game with "Dinamo" (Minsk). Accordding to the information we have right now, out of 37 people there's one survivor. I suggest we commemorate the fallen with moment of silence. [...] Thank you. The decision to continue this game will made made after we speak with the teams during the break that is starting now. Break.
WOW. So if you're wondering what the metronome ticking was doing during the moment of "silence," it harkens back to the Siege of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). The siege, set by the Nazis, lasted 872 days and claimed well over 4 million lives from the civilians and military men left defending the city. All through the starvation, incessant bombing and artillery, and extreme hardship, the Leningrad radio would let a metronome tick over the radio. It played everywhere and was regarded as the heartbeat of the city - a sign that they had not yet been taken. It sent shivers down my spine to hear it here.
@@roccoanthony8930 "Cold War politics have slaughtered FAR more people than the Nazi’s could even dream" - now that's a STATEMENT OF YEAR, for being an idiot! Nazi war killed 57, 58 million people DIRECTLY & some shithead like you, a Nazi sympathizer (who probably don't even know what it truly is/was), talks such bullshit? Shiiiit! For some people, there should still be public burning!
I still have my Love for Lokomotiv wrist band for when I donated to the charity for the families. That was a very sad day and year for Hockey all across the world. I still remember. Love from Canada!
RIP to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and to all those who perished in this tragic accident, including head coach and former Philadelphia Flyer Brad McCrimmon... :-(
Budiž jim země lehká a na nebeské pouti hodně odehraných zápasů. Dodnes mě sevře úzkost u srdce, když si na tragédii vzpomenu. R.I.P Lokomotiv Jaroslavl, ( Rachůnek, Marek, Vašíček, Demitra ❤❤ )
2 of the men who died in that crash were with the Detroit Red Wings here in America. So as a Wings fan, this broke my heart. To honor those men, the Wings had a patch on their jerseys to honor them the following season after this disaster.
Teemu Selänne told In a documentary about him that after this incident he Lost many friends In this accident and it made him to start thinking to quit his career. Pro hockey players fly every week year after year, many times In terrible wether conditions and this was every players worst nightmare. R. I. P Ruslan Salev, Pavol Demitra and others.
This horrific incident recieved absolutely ZERO Media coverage from the major sports news outlets here in the U.S. When something tragic happens to a football or basketball player, they recieve endless coverage. But I guess the lives of these great hockey players weren't important enough. Disgraceful. Boycott ESPN and the rest of those media embarrassments.
It received considerable attention including an investigative piece and follow up from HBO's Real Sports on transportation safety standards or lack thereof in the KHL.
C1: You heard... You heard the words of the director of KHL Alexander Medvedev - the first period ends now and the decision whether to continue or terminate the game will be made after consulting with the teams - Salavat and Atlant, respectively. And as soon as we learn of that decision, we will certainly inform you. Black day for our ice hockey, sport and, I think, in general. I would ask my colleaugues in Moscow, or here on the Ufa-arena to keep is posted on the plans with our live broadcast.
@@kyoto7258 а что? Я просто говорю, что в моём городе тоже не плохо. Чтоб иностранцы знали, что в Угличе тоже не плохо. Но правда сейчас в кремле проводятся раскопки.
C1: If Grigorenko couldn't get it, it wasn't the best C2: From Grigorenko's point of view 100% 5:16 until the end of the first period C1: And now, finally, a decision has been made and let's listen to Alexander Medvedev
C1: If we try to distact, although it doesn't seem possible, from a hockey standpoint the five minutes that are left can easily be transferred over to the second period.
How come I never heard of the lost of the whole hockey team in US or other european media coverage? This is the first time I am learning of this horrible crash ! Rest in peace...
I was in France at that time and nobody talked about it there... In France, they only talk about what they want to talk, which is stupid reality TV shows or the President's mistresses...
I'd suppose it was because few people in France actually know what Hockey is, let alone following the game. I'm positive it was if not breaking news, than at least news of the day everywhere where people care about Hockey.
Imagine being a player & you hear an entire team has died as a result of a crash while you and your team still have to fly back to your own city.😳😳 I’d ask to drive , train or go by bus. I’d be too paranoid for about a week.

Just copy text and put here in normal english...sorry, my english not so bad>but it is hard....this is not translatable with soul... only google robot... Dear friends. Today happened terrible grief. When departing from Yaroslavl for the match against Dinamo Minsk crashed plane with a team, administrators, coaches of the team Yaroslavl.According to the data, which are now, of the thirty-seven people one person survived. I propose a moment of silence to honor...
Still haunting. Also game is cancelled everyone sob up and get up to leave with quiet talk only. to me that shows they have more emotion than the westerners that claim Russians don't show feelings. If it happened in the US some would have left only after shouting or whistling something and taking photos with their phones.
did they finish the game, refund the fans, or rip everybody off with only part of the show they paid full ticket price for? I like the metronome. "stalingrad, Massengrab" Jesus Christ russia. tone it done. Was jaroslavl good? I like to think there was at least one team that reacted with joy when they heard the news. Like when the whole team got the measles and the ducks into the playoffs.
