That bit about the guy dying of vocal chord cancer reminded me of something. You cannot convince me that God does not have a sense of humor. My favorite example of this is Voltaire. He claimed that a hundred years from him there would be no Bibles except in museums . . . then, sixty years after his death, his house was turned into a storage and distribution center for Bibles. There’s also the unfortunate incident of the *Titanic,* where one of the crew members boasted that God Himself couldn’t sink the ship. We all know how that went down.

I'm a right wing atheist that believes in live and let live when it comes to what you believe. But I gotta say it's frustrating to hear the bs about Christopher Hitchens. He smoked like a chimney for decades. Why is it when a Christian dies of throat cancer from smoking it's not God who killed them, but if it's an atheist...oh yeah totally Gods vengeance. God doesn't need to take revenge, that's basically the premise of the New Testament. Who are you to attribute acts of cruelty to God? Why would you even want to? If you think God gave humans the freedom to choose. You should respect those that do honestly.

Through this, people find religion. It's why many aethists you hear (especially online) typically fall into a political cult like socialism. Which, as the founders of socialism recognized, is a religion upon itself..

I'm saddened that Dane Cook had such a falling out in public opinion. Of course not every joke landed, especially in his later routines, but the guy was, for a time, the biggest act in comedy and could level an arena with side-splitting laughter. He also was a decent actor; I still enjoy "Employee of the Month." I thought he'd be destined to be a late night host but it wasn't meant to be. I'd love to see a comeback.

6:00 - I never understood all the Dane hate. Is he the best comic? Certainly not. But he has some solid jokes, especially on his first 3 albums. And he revolutionized the comedian/fan relationship and was one of the pioneers to using social media to promote himself. I agree with Michael, we need a Dane-ssance.

Dane was partly responsible for getting into stand up comedy - I was a teenager when he did Harmful if Swallowed and Retaliation, so I was his prime demographic. My tastes have changed since then and there are comics with far more longevity (Louis CK, Chapelle, Burr, etc), but Dane doesn't deserve all the hate he gets imo. He had his time and place.

That's what I'm telling every atheist I got into argument with. If we die and "there's no god", I said fine, I won't get punished or rewarded for the things I've done, I would just cease to exist. But what if GOD exists?? what would you do then? 60 to 80 or even a 100 years of sacrifice and obedience to God is a lot more easier than suffering in HELL for all eternity.

I was ambivalent to christianity for a long time. I grew up in Sweden in the 1980s in a culture that had been completely molded by socialism. That molding certainly extended to our state church and still exists today. Many of our priests are straight-up communists and more interested in politics than religion. I became an atheist in the 1990s as an act of defiance against socialism. I've grown closer to God in recent years but there are few options for organized christianity in Sweden besides the state church.

1) Dane Cook being "raised Catholic" does not mean he is a Christian. I don’t care what he was raised, I care what he believes. And his lifestyle choices for a very long time were not exactly God-fearing, and one of the reasons he fell out of favor is because he married someone MUCH younger than himself who quite obviously was a minor when they got together. 2) No Tim Hawkins?!? 3) No Jon Crist?!? 4) Jeff Allen is amazing and hilarious and also happens to have a heart-wrenching testimony, and his newer stuff is even better. He experienced a renaissance during COVID with a performance on Dry Bar Comedy and it is GREAT!

@@bigd5773 I wasn't aware of this, but upon research, it does sound like it wasn't a good situation, however, I will say it sounds less like SA, and more like he was dating in a secular/worldly way, not what would be considered a traditional Christian way. So more hypocrisy than anything. He was contrite, confessed, and apologized and sought help/counseling and has since moved on with his life. I feel like this is a bit different from Cook, who came out as a couple with his now-wife when she was 18 and he was 45. And that's just when they announced that they were a couple, not sure how long they had been "together" prior to that, and that is the most concerning part to me - that she may have been a minor. I don't care about the age gap on its own.

I believe in Hell. Of course, i believe everything i am told by anyone i see as an authority or expert on something. Priests, TV anchors, professors, doctors...I have had 12 jabs. The last one, i got home and the needle was still in me! I poop clots every day and get sick all the time, but i am still here!

Fear is probably what makes people atheists because they're angry that God would be so cruel. If Jesus saved us, he saved us all. I wouldn't think that evil, sinful people would go to heaven, but moral atheists? I think they can maybe see the truth after they die and have a chance for redemption. I think God is merciful.

I don't feel you should fear the people you love, and if you do, that this is not a healthy relationship, but a relationship of coercion and abuse. And I don't think that's a controversial opinion either, I think we all morally know this to be true. If God does exist, I hope He has a better moral framework than humans. I would hope that God would be merciful.

When I was 18 and living in LA, before I became a Christian, I would go to the Hollywood Improv every night because it was the only thing that made that place tolerable. I watched Dane Cook tell one of the funniest jokes that I have ever heard. He is a genuinely a funny guy. I Think people started trashing him because he allegedly stole some jokes over the years, which in comedy is a huge no-no.

All except the last two are comedians who happen to be Christians. Myself if you have to resort to extensively foul language to get a laugh then you've you lost me. Make me laugh with clean humor than you really are funny. Tim Hawkins, John Crist, Johnny B, Jeff Allen and Brad Stein. Very funny without the foul language.

Had a debate with an atheist about the creation in college. How can someone think a random explosion would just happen to create a universe that has a properly rotating solar system that has a planet with just the right environment to create several different species of life including intelligent beings? It’s far more believable that an intelligent God did all that than a random explosion.

It's not a justification, it's just weighing the worst case scenarios of each choice, which is actually quite reasonable. We do it often, so it's silly to avoid doing it regarding eternity.
