Famed for his song LOLIONDO KAPSUBERO, John Kamiti Kikwai was a resident of Olesoi in Sigor, Bomet County and hailed from Kapkechwoek clan. LOLIONDO is a small centre in Nyandarua County where Kikwai was stationed at some point while working as a driver for the Kenya Power and Lighting Company, while SUBERO is the nickname given by the area residents to an Italian national who lives within the same vicinity. Kikwai and his close friends would refer to the Italian's homestead as KAPSUBERO as they regularly passed by the homestead while walking to the nearby Loliondo local center.
An artist with a keen eye for additional sources of income then, Kikwai, who previously lived with his family in Tarime-Tanzania way before joining KPLC, was also a business man with a modest fortune who is credited for being among the first few Kalenjin Secular artists to sponsor their own music production. It is also reported that while working for Kenya power and as an artist, he managed to secure a plot in Shauri Moyo-Nairobi with the intention of putting up a residence and a few flats. Definitely a strategy worth being copied by our current secular artists who become lucky enough to consolidate a fortune.
And later upon his demise, Kikwai would pass over the button to his younger brother Paul Korgoren Chwarachwara who would continue churning out more hits through Olesoi Band.
