Featuring the trademark Thunderbird bass growl, our take on these pickups delivers a clear tone, smooth attack, and better volume balance between pickups than the originals. Optional black pickup shims (1∕16" neck and 1∕8" bridge) are also available to retrofit an Epiphone® bass.

Comparing your pickups to the stock pickups would ve helpful. Idk why makers haven't done this. Convince me that your product gives me the sound that the OEM doesn't.

To be honest, while I understand your point, we're really not interested in convincing anyone of anything. We're just not that kind of company. And we don't see ourselves as competing with your stock pickups - or ANY other pickups, really. If someone has an issue with their existing pickups, OEM or otherwise, they can come to us and we can try to provide a solution that suits their individual needs and tastes. We know that our products aren't going to be the perfect fit for everyone, and that's ok. If they like the examples we offer, what other pickups sound like is not really important. We want folks to buy our products based on their merits, irrespective of the shortcomings of others. That's why, in most cases, we don't really bother comparing our pickups to others' offerings, as we are not competing with anyone but ourselves and building to the needs of our customers. We only want to make the best products that we can, and putting other builders down isn't required to do so, nor is it beneficial to the process.

I really want to use these in a fretless bass build! Any thoughts on these vs. You jazz bass blade style pickups? Pretty well settled already but open to suggestions..

The Thunderbird is a great option for those looking for a singlecoil-like sound with the added benefit of a humbucking pickup. The BS J-Bass has a bit more top end and attack, whereas the T-Bird is a little more emphasized in the mid and low frequencies. So, if you want something that's somewhat more focused on clarity and attack, the BS is the way to go. But if you're looking to get a fuller, fatter sound and without the hum, the Thunderbird is where it's at. Hope this is helpful. If you want to compare them a bit more, you can head over to our website and check out the individual product pages for more details.

Would these drop in on a Gretsch G2220 Bass? Thank you.

We can't say for sure, as we have never tried. I've never even seen that bass in person, so I can't make a claim one way or the other. But, as for the pickups, they are completely different in their design and dimensions. The stock pickups appear to be Firebird/Minihumbucker-sized pickups that mount into a cavity routed into the body, whereas the Thunderbirds are larger in both length and width and mount to the surface of the instrument. But, because the T-bird mounts to the surface, there's a very good chance that it would work - you just need to be sure that the space between the top of the bass and bottom of the strings is enough to accommodate the depth of the Thunderbird pickups and allow for enough space for the strings to move freely without interruption from the pickups, physically or magnetically. Here are some dimensional drawings for you to compare: Firebird (your stock pickups) - www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/1/firebird-dimensions-800x800_450x450.jpg Thunderbird - www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/1/thunderbird-dimensions-800x800_450x450.jpg I hope that helps you in your endeavor.
