I am based in North London, but as part of the filming schedule for my recent Abellio videos, I ventured for the first time into South London (yes, I’ve led a very sheltered life!). Here, I found a number of bus types that I had never encountered before, and I thought it would be worth going back to shoot a special video about them. Lucky I did, because I caught the Epsom-based services just before Quality Line shut up shop for good.
The video starts by looking at London General’s DOE and SOE types - Alexander Dennis chassis with Optare bodywork. The focus is on routes 93, 151, 154 and 213 (for the DOEs), and 152, 163 and 164 (for the SOEs), plus route 80 (which has a handful of each) and routes 39 and 493 (which get the occasional SOE).
Then, we move on to RATP’s Quality Line services; the S1 has Optare Metrocities and the 413 has 10.6 metre Citaro K-types. I have seen Metrocity battery buses operating for London United in West London, but the only other place I have seen a Citaro K was in France!
Hope you enjoy the video.
