I suspect that the trams are faster than the buses because most of their route in central Croydon is on private right of way or tram only roads.

I think that Croydon, which is a London borough, has applied for city status a couple of times but has not been successful yet.

@@Great_WesternTVFan That's quite interesting, if Croydon were to become a city, would it be only the town of Croydon, or would it be the entire London Borough of Croydon? With local government in London the way it is I would think that it would have to be the whole of the the L B of Croydon, it would be difficult to separate out the town of Croydon.

@@bobhodgestransportDVDs hmmmm. I think the town of Croydon would be the city if it was a city, other places would just be their respected places in the Croydon borough, or maybe the Borough of Croydon could be called Greater Croydon
