Taking all three trains from Central London to Heathrow, I show you all the options, to find the best option for you.
Taxis are very expensive costing £50-80 and can take up to an hour in peak times.
The train is by far the quickest and cheapest option, this guide will show you all 3 options, including convenience, comfort, cost, and journey length so you can decide for yourself which is best for you.

The Heathrow Express is the way to go BUT IS HUGELY OVERPRICED- When the Elizabeth Line is fully open, I would expect Heathrow express to be pointless.

If you are able to book ahead, the Heathrow Express can cost as little a five pounds (one way). It will be interesting to see what impact the Elizabeth Line will have.

District Line to Earls Court, change to a Richmond or Ealing Broadway District, then change to Picadilly at Barons Court or Hammersmith. Two changes, but both are cross platform, avoiding stairs. But far to complicated for first time visitors to London. Take the Heathrow Express or the Elizabeth Line!

Picadilly line is direct to London just not to Paddington, saying you have to change trains is silly because chances are most people are going to continue onto the tube anyway. The Picadilly line is actually more likely to be direct because it has many stops across central London.

wouldn't recomend placing suicases by they doors. would prefer to recoment placing them in the wheelchair accessable area aslong as there isn't a person in need of that space. this is because although the doors are big, at most times people will want to use the doors and dont want to be obstructed by suitcases. it would also be easier to transfer at hammersmith becuase of the cross platform instead of using the tunnels

This really depends on where you start your journey to and from Central London? If you just missed a Heathrow Express it’s quicker to catch the CrossRail and then again if you are staying around Gloucester Road/South Kensington area or Piccadilly Circus etc then the Piccadilly Lone is quicker because no changes and much much cheaper. Then again if you are staying around Waterloo/Westminster Area no one mentioned the secret way, bus 285 or 490 to Feltham Station (takes around 15 minutes) then South Western Railways to Waterloo (25 minutes), much more comfortable and faster...
@doughunt9621
@doughunt9621 Год назад
A little late for this. Note that if you take a Circle Line train from Paddington, you change to the Picadilly line at Gloucester Road. If, however, you use a District Line train, you change at Earl's Court. Also note that there are two separate stations on the Circle Line at Paddington. If you use the one at the far end of the main line station, you will have a choice of the Circle Line (which is actually no longer a circle) or the Hammersmith and City Line to Hammersmith. You can change for the Picadilly Line at Hammesrsmith, but this entails leaveing the Circle and H&C station, crossing the road and re-entering the District and Piccadilly Line station. Also note, you cannot change at Heathrow 2&3 for a train to terminal 4. Trains from Central London either travel to 2&3 then Terminal 5, or to terminal 4 then 2&3 round a loop in that direction only. If you are at 2&3 and you need terminal 4 you ahve to travel one stop towards Central London, then change at Hatton Cross and take a Terminal 4 train from there.

Thanks for the summary, Josh. I haven't been to London since you-know-what began, but when I did, I used to stay at Paddington because it had great transport links to Heathrow and to the rest of London. I think the TFL rail is the best compromise for ease and price (but once I managed to get some really cheap weekend Heathrow Express tickets in 90 days in advance, so it can be worth checking). It's going to be amazing when the Elizabeth Line goes the full way through Central London to Heathrow, so I hope I'll be back then to try it out.

It is a matter of cost, frequency and comfort. The Picadilly Line is frequent, cheap but uncomfortable. The Elisabeth Line is less frequent, but is comfortable and fairly cheap. The Heathrow Express is frequent, comfortable but expensive unless booked far in advance. The line from Paddngton can sometimes be severely disrupted due to damage to overhead power lines, points or signal failure. Check how services are running and allow plenty of extra time. A taxi is also an option. The Elizabeth and Picadilly Lines can be very heavily loaded during peak periods so the Heathrow Express can be useful.

I've always thought that it was a great stretch of the imagination to describe Paddington Station as being in "Central London", which is what The Heathrow Express have been telling us for the past twenty years or more.. Technically I suppose that it is, but most people visiting London are more interested in heading towards the main shopping and entertainment districts around Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square which from Paddington Station involves a further tube journey on The Bakerloo Lone of 10-15 minutes. It would be more informative for someone to produce a video of the ways to get from Piccadilly Circus to Heathrow, in which case the Piccadilly Line option would win both on price and time.

I don’t know if you’ve taken your trip yet, but if you arrive at T3 by public transport, enter the terminal and find the Virgin check-in desks. Heathrow express need tunnel to from terminal 5 Windsor & Eton River side one branch to aldershot that the other branch it cut over crowded on South West trains it be same price but more quicker. Because it more money than elizabeth line it could lose money it can go further in South west of England. 15 mind to terminal 5 half hour to Windsor half hour aldershot with a tunnel Virginia water to terminal 5 like sayed same price as South west trains and quicker to from London what do u think?
@FrankyLon
@FrankyLon 10 месяцев назад
Taking the HEX on a Southernly route would not make it quicker, just would bring it closer to Central London if it was going to WAT instead of PAD. Tunnel to WNR is too costly and unnecessary, actually a detour, a more direct route through Stanwell Moore to connect to the existing SWR line would be better for a service towards South and Central London. The problem with any extra service on that route is the 4 level crossings between BNS and RMD, replcing those with bridges/underpassess would cost more than the branch from LHR to SNS. Introducing more trains through the level crossings (especially the proposed 4tph frequency) would cause huge traffic jams for local road users. In fact, this has been a prohibiting factor for some time. As for the `outward` direction, I can`t really see how the randomly picked Hampshire town of Aldershot comes to the picture I doubt it has a huge regular traffic to LHR to justify the direct link, I would rather link up the Surrey towns of Woking and Guildford with connection from further South(west) at Woking. This would require a spur at Staines (there used to be one funnily enough) which would require tunneling as the old allignment is now taken up by the A308.

Lol, choosing the westernmost London railway terminus as starting point which happens to have direct trains on two of the services but not on the 3rd one is a bit extreme and makes the summary useless to be honest. A more neutral loction in actual central London, perhaps a tradiniolly recognised starting point such as Trafalgar Square or Charring Cross, rather than the convinently placed western part of inner London would have made this much more informative and closer to the truth. Despite what the HEX tries to tell us, the Bayswater area is hardly Central London for tourists or business travellers alike. They might stay in the area for convinience and good transport links to LHR, but most of them will commute to Central London daily during their stay.
