We travelled overland on trains and buses from London to Istanbul in just 7 days.
This is the first leg of our overland trip from London to Tbilisi, Georgia.
Our journey included enjoying the beer halls of Munich; exploring the gorgeous streets of Salzburg; riding the giant ferris wheel in Vienna; relaxing in the baths of Budapest; admiring the churches of Belgrade; having a traditional meal in Sofia; and taking the Sofia express overnight train to Istanbul.

Hey Karl! I'm usually a lurker that never comments, but I have been following your channel since 2019, when I was 16 years old and first getting ideas about long-term travel and solo backpacking. I'm now 21, and last year I did my first backpacking trip across Europe, visiting a lot of places you visited (Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Istanbul). Watching this felt like such a full circle moment. I've discovered so many amazing places through your videos - now I can watch you discover all of the incredible places I was lucky enough to see last year. You took exactly the same route I took from London when I was 21. The only difference I bought a car in England and my friends and I drove it. It was such a good fun.

Great video Karl. The only thing I would say though is with regards to your Serbian border comment. Unfortunately the UK passport's position in Europe is not as important as your friend's Irish passport. Let's hope things change soon and we'll be back to a pre-2016 position. I didnt even know that i could reach london in one day by train. Your into reminds me of abroad in japan. Cool video. Greatings from munich. I know videos of ben from nearfromhome. So it was the best guide you can get Usually you could get "bayern ticket" as well until salzburg eventhough its austria. 3 people would have been around 50 euro in total not each😂

I went to the Augustiner Keller when I was in Munich and met up with a friend I hadn’t seen in 7 years before I seen him that night. Great experience, glad you enjoyed Munich. It is definitely top the list of my favorite places!

I just gt so frustrated a more and more of my friends cant not drop everything to go have fun exploring other counties. What i find really odd is one friend who like me as no commitments (other then work) has never had a passport or been over seas ever in her life and she is like in her 40's. Its very odd, I just wish i had more friends to travel with its gets harder as you get older for sure.

This is my second episode after Slovenia and I will trace back to watch all of yours. Since my listening skill is not that good so I try to catch the lines without sub title and try to find out at Sofia, if I am right, you ask the locals to buy the train tickets for you guys? sorry If I am wrong. I like many parts including when u got help from the Australian lady and also the public bath in Budapest ... cant wait for the 2nd part. Sawasdee !!

Nice video but why didn’t you do interrail? Everyone can do this. You would have saved a lot of money. Also you alluded to how expensive trains are in Europe, I would say they are cheap in comparison to UK trains!
