Thanks this - brings back a lot of memories. I worked at no 4 Cavendish Square (the building with the green door) as you walked up from the car park entrance when it was leased by the BBC. The multi story office block that you pan up to is 33 Cavendish Square, where again the BBC had several floors which housed the accounts depts.
There is an old saying that floats around fashion circles & even art circles that says "blue & green should never be seen" that seems completely redundant when it comes to the blue skies of London as a back drop to the astoundingly beautiful green trees everywhere, especially those you passed by in that park! How sumptuous that park was, and so elegant. It completely baffles me how I have such a deep affection for London, it seems so familiar, how this can be is a mystery to me....:) thanks WW for another lovely walk
Another beautiful comment, thank you MMV! The colours in nature on a lovely sunny day are hard to beat, and certainly work well together. There must be something about London you’re really drawn to, do you feel that way about anywhere else?
This is wonderful, I love these kinds of 'virtual flaneuring' videos. Over-hearing brief snippets of conversation, seeing the sheer diversity of people, the architecture, the sounds, and I can almost smell the exhaust fumes. I miss walking through London like this. I've always imagined seeing a video like this but in Victorian or Tudor London.
From 2:15, the sculpture on John Lewis is titled Winged Figure. It is by Barbara Hepworth and has grade 2 listed status. The artwork was commissioned in 1961 and installed on the Holles Street corner in 1963.
Many of the streets in the area are named after the landowner Edward Harley, Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer and his wife, Lady Henrietta Cavendish-Holles.
I lived at 61 Harley street from 80+83 Mr Scott-brown was the lease holder and many HsrleyStett consultants worked there. We had the three upper floors think rent was about 11000 Ounds a month we did not have to pay thank god 😊
