*8:59** "Bad trade."* That moment when Cole remembers causing Tonto so much pain is so iconic. He died of his own greed and selfishness. Well deserved.
Again...Lone Ranger...NOT Jesus! Comedy with a message...the Native American has for too long been portrayed in films as subservient to everyone else. I found it refreshing to see the interaction between these two. Did you get offended for TLR when his brother mocked his suit or his giant and ridiculous hat? Tonto and Ranger had developed a kinship which allowed that kind of interchange. It's what friends do no matter what their differences.
Are you an adult? I never said you compared anyone to Jesus...my point was that you needn't get so head up about a character in a movie...it's just not that serious. Are you Native American? How would you know how they judge me? My guess is they wouldn't. I grew up with the all the iconic "white" males so seeing them now is nothing new. I don't put much stock in who is what race...it simply doesn't matter. YOU are the one who is threatened to the point of having such a reaction to a different perspective gets you defensive and argumentative. It's just another point of view. If you don't like trying to see another side, stick to what you know is just like you.
Don't bother trying to reason with him, Carlotta. He's obviously in love with the idea of the Lone Ranger as some sort of ideal, takes literally everything way too seriously, and must be dreadfully insecure in person.
In my honest opinion, this is the best version of the William Tell Overture yet. It's the most powerful and loaded with the most sustenance out of any other rendition I've heard of this song.
I've heard the William Tell overture in other movies, I never knew it was for the original Lone Ranger tv show. I really like what Zimmerman has done with it and all the other themes that go into the song as well. He's my favorite movie composure for sure.
Sorry to disappoint you, but there will never be a sequel to this film, it bombed at the box office & almost bankrupted Walt Disney film studios, it was universally panned by the film critics worldwide because bore no resemblance to the original Lone Ranger & Tonto storyline, I saw the film & thought it was absolute sacrilege, although the final 15 minutes were terrific. This particular piece of music is awesome! Glad you enjoyed the film though.
schlontz84 what are you talking about? This is a modifyed version of the original sheet music that you can still find today. And it was the original theme of the original lone ranger tv show.
you didnt get me...yes I'm well aware of the fact that this is an adaptation of a classic piece....and i love the ''changes/additions'' ,too I'm a huge fan of HZ
Saw this in 2013 in theaters matinee so it was mostly senior citizens and they were like kids again watching this part. I remember being more fascinated by that then this scene This movie did right by the audience it was meant for ....the fans of the 1950s tv show Disney needs to get that back asap
I dont understand what was so bad about the new one. I didnt find it bad at all! Fucking loved the train scene. And i like the darker take, with cannibalism and the sad mentality of tonto. It was different but no need to call it bad.
The problem was way too many plot points were jammed into the movie. The finale was AWESOME but some of the jokes were reused 10-14 times and they usually got tired on the 2nd.. All in all... its a fun movie.. just the plot is unnecessarily complicated.
DIsturbios1234 well what were they gonna do? Just revamp one of the episodes of lone ranger? I admit it was a little complicated but i think it did well in introducing the lone ranger.
Marck Juarez It didn't need the extra plot points though, thats the problem. It did well in introducing the character and all but there just was a bit too much, it really would have benefitted from a more simple plot. After all there is a happy medium between complicated plot and the original 50s ranger. Not saying its a bad movie that you should never watch though, it just was a bit to ambitious with its plot.
Never saw this until released later because of the reviews! But damn i would of paid to see this on the big screen for the final 15minutes alone! What a scene 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I don’t care what anyone says I loved seeing this movie in theaters and am happy I own the Blu-ray of it. Plus that climax was spectacular to see and hear!! Also I really enjoy the Fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film On Stranger Tides! It was funny, had some cool action, a great climax, the Spainard was an awesome supporting character reminded my of Boba Fett not in the film a lot, but when he was there was so suave and cool!! To name a few of many things!!!!
I like the scene setting up the big climax everyone is taking their positions including Helena Bohnam Carter’s character of Red. Also they were able to throw in some comedy into the chase as well while not having it overpower the scene!!
one of the greatest re-arrangements of a classical piece I've ever heard!Wendy Carlos did a nice rendition for "clockwork orange" for its time it matched the images Kubrick put on screen.
+Corey Messick Nope, this is not "things that we do" today... What we can do, however, is riding across the arid lowlands of Far West, while there is only carnivorous rabbits to witness the outdated wilderness of this mythical landscape. What an underrated movie...
Corey Messick Didn't say there was anything wrong with it. I enjoyed it very much. I liked the interpretation of a classical piece in a western movie and changing the classical piece into a western style song.

This variation was actually composed by Geoff Zanelli, who was one of the commissioned ghost writers for the film, but not Zimmer himself. Credit to the ghost writer, I say.
This song will play in Time Shift twice, first as Constitution egresses Panel Gulch and continues on for California while the gnus crash through the gulch, and Squint rushes to save Melanie, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn as they are shot at by Slovene, Islandin, Frusco and Benny; Constitution struggles to save Bloodhound and Tomcat from the gnus and second as Casey Junior and Putt-Putt traverse Texas.
For the record Hans Zimmer did not write the "William Tell Overture". It was Rossini who did in case you're wondering. And it was written well before the days of radio,tv and film.
As flawed as it was I loved this movie. Since I was kid I've been big Lone Ranger Fan...had a mask and everything :-) But my only problem with the film it kinda of came off as Captain Jack Sparrow as Tonto and in a variation Sparrow as the Lone Ranger...the Pirates of the Plains. For most of us Lone Ranger purist out there the tongue in cheek atmosphere didn't go over to well at first. But I eventually came around because I had a lot fun watching it over and over again. A lot of great jokes and parodies that you have to be my age to actually get. But one the strong suits of this film was the Hans Zimmer Score...he knocked it out of the park as usual. And it really made the movie. Great Job Hans!!!
