Thank you for a great review. It confirmed that my decision a few years ago was correct. I chose to buy a bike cover for £10 and spend the rest on a dedicated tent which is more robust in the wet windy british weather. Not having the bike in the tent with me has never crossed my mind since to be honest.

Thanks for taking the time to put this video up 👍 I’ve been researching this tent as well as the Redverz but I think this one will be my next touring tent because of the quality of all the fittings and its cheaper than the Redvetz lol! Thanks again safe travels 👌👍

Very nice tent, great for your needs. I was boy scout as a child and I keep good memories of the camps. We used a Canadian-style tent that we assembled among the 6 children we slept inside and it was very laborious. Between preparing the ground and assembling I think it could take almost an hour. Now a days its easier!

I wish I had this kind of tent when I was in scouts as well.

I bought this tent in August '19. I've used it to travel up to Nordkapp from Krakow and from Santiago to Ushuia and back. Easy to put up and take down as a solo traveller. It has stood up to some really heavy rain in Norway and very strong winds in south America without any issues. I love the space but you do have the trade off of bulk and weight.

Hi, I have this tent and go motocamping alone with it. I love it and have had it for two seasons. My challenge is fitting it on my CB500FA but I always manage to do it. Last week camping, the black pole cracked at one spot on the pole while putting the tent up. This didn't stop me from getting the tent up but I was a bit disappointed on how it broke so easily. I do have to say that I love this tent and even though it is on the heavier side, I love the fact that as a female I can go camping and put all of my gear and bike behind the tent out of sight. I will have to contact Lone Rider to discuss the pole issue.

Angela, I’m glad you enjoy the tent and thank you for sharing the experience you’ve had with it. I trust Lone Rider will provide a replacement section.

Did Lone Rider replace the broken pole for free? Are you still using the tent from two years ago?

Hey Chantil , hope youre well and covid safe ?Happened to come across this video and recognised you from Girls on Top haha! I have a moto tent too but havent used it for a while so was searching for set up videos and there you were! Just got back from a camping trip and it was quite windy! Moto tent was quite the struggle to set up as a result , thought maybe i was doing something wrong even though there were two of us ! We got there in the end. Take Care Sue

So good to hear from you Sue! This review has been our top video so I’m glad you stumbled across it. We wish we could be camping more but with Airbnbs being relatively inexpensive, campsite closed, and lots of rain lately in the Balkans, we’re indoors a lot. Happy motorcycle camping in 2021!

Thank you for the really informative and unbiased video of the tent. A lot of guys totally discount and trash-talk this type of tent by saying that it's too heavy and bulky, however, I have to agree with your explanation of having comfortable accommodations for a good night sleep and I feel that the additional weight and bulk would be worth it. I do a lot of long range travel and I'm getting a bit tired of staying in hotels all of the time. The cost really adds up and hotel quality is getting more and more questionable. I have been considering a Lone Rider or Redverz tent of this design for a few years now and I really need to make a decision. Presently I ride by myself and I will have to get used to setting it up solo. Btw, I really like your license plates!
@viajarMOTO

Thanks for the comment. You mentioned all the advantages and the disadvantages. I would say that for a single rider the Mototent is a lot more space than you would need. The hardest part of putting up the tent is pushing the support rods through the fabric channel. It definitely helps to have another person help guide the rod while it is being pushed. I’m glad the video was able to help with your decision. Cheers!

We just spent a week in our tent riding and wild-camping along the Croatian Trans Euro Trail. One night we had thunderstorms all evening and well into the morning. We stayed comfortable and dry while cooking and eating dinner inside. We continue to highly recommend this tent for motorcycle camping and overlanding.

I have this tent - bought it at about the same time...It is easy as a single person putting it together - just practice once before its maiden voyage...Also, packing tip - just stuff the tent (minus poles) into the stuff sack and keep the poles separate - strapped on top. My only complaint is the weight of this tent (12lbs!) - but you can use this minus the garage...just unzip that portion and don't take it - the compression bag with the molle system on it is a big upgrade over the previous stuffsak.

Galynne, thanks for the tips.As for unzipping the garage: I don’t see how this can be done; the zippers don’t run the entire length of the garage area.

BEL VIDEO ! mi consigli questa tenda in due ? sono indeci fra la mototent o ADV tent. ciaooo from italy
@viajarMOTO
@viajarMOTO Год назад

Hello, interesting review! It's hot inside the tent during summer or in hot climate?
@viajarMOTO
@viajarMOTO Год назад
I suppose this depends on the person. Chantil loves the heat retaining of the inner tent and outer cover. I find our older version of the MotoTent to be too hot above 75F (24C) because the bug netting does not extend all the way to the sleeping area. Lone Rider had updated the tent and now includs roof to floor netting on all of the zip-up doors. I imagine this would help a lot to create a breeze down at the floor better.

Don't get me wrong I think a tent with a hole in it but $535 for a tent with a hole big enough to fit your bike into seems a little steep to me. Why not just get a normal tent for $50 at target and modify the poles to have an awning that closes?
@viajarMOTO
@viajarMOTO Год назад
Thanks for the comment. There are A LOT of ways to camp. The MotoTent is just one of them. The MotoTent has served us comfortably for 152 days of camping since we started full-time overlanding in March 2020. Sure $535 may seem steep, but we’ve used the tent enough that it’s costed us only $3.52 for each day of camping. Could a TARGET tent have served us as well - perhaps. However, I feel the MotoTent has proven its durability, convenience, and comfort over the past 30 months.

Not sure, but the dimensions of the COT ONE CONVERTIBLE seem to be just a tad wider than the sleeping pads we use.

I cannot think of a more unsuitable tent to take Moto camping. It’s big and bulky to carry, will be unpleasant in any wind. It’s also far too expensive.

@@viajarMOTO Since you have and I haven't, I'll take your word for it.
@viajarMOTO
@viajarMOTO 2 года назад
@@billyray3761 However, I would not classify the Moto Tent as an expedition tent that can sustain high winds and heavy weather for days on end. Those tents have more support, but they also cost much more. I think Lone Rider found a nice niche. We certainly enjoy the extra space and comfort it provides.
