Ironic haaaaaa.....that Tennessee and the southeastern Appalachian region was primarily pioneered by Scotch-Irish settlers, so Capt Call had a very valid point actually. 👍🏻😊
Eamon Hunt This is what he means about the people that call themselves “Scotch-Irish”, from Wikipedia: Scotch-Irish (or Scots-Irish) Americans are American descendants of Ulster Protestants who emigrated from Ulster in northern Ireland to America during the 18th and 19th centuries, whose ancestors had originally migrated to Ireland mainly from the Scottish Lowlands and Northern England in the 17th century.
Greatest movie ever !! Back when men didn’t need to apologize for being men. Back when hard work, not hand outs, made you man. When honor and loyalty was highly valued. And, as this clip shows, people were PROUD to be Americans. Hey, let’s make America great again!!!!
When exactly was this halcyon period of which you speak? America was built upon genocide and slavery, so tell us when "honor and loyalty" was so highly valued.
@@barrys4922 Not all of us had slaves or killed Indians, so if you do happen to live in this country and hate it that bad, may I suggest you leave to oh, maybe North Korea.
the message behind lonesome doves character driven story is most definitely NOT that they are a very hard working group or that their lives are even very rewarding when they DO work hard lol

Most of the settlers/cowboys were. Reminds me of a line in "The Sopranos" where an Italian-American family is discussing whether mafia movies portray Italians unfairly, and one of them says that those types of movies have become an essential part of Americana like westerns..."and you don't hear the Scots-Irish pissin' and moanin' about always being portrayed as rustlers and gunslingers". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--2-LaVtXrhA.html
Ulster Scots is a term many of the establish and settled Irish Americans, of Presbyterian stock, began to label themselves in the 1840s. This was to distinguish themselves form the second large wave of immigration from Ireland. The second wave coming during the famine and after. The first wave of immigration from Ireland was of Presbyterians. This was after the Williamite Wars. Due to persecution from the Establishment for their none conformance to the Anglican Church. These Ulster Scots were later known as Hill Billys.
@@michaellowery4162 Better than Martin Sheen, but a little too down-to-earth for Lee. Lee is one of those roles that's probably impossible to cast, though, like Jesus or Julius Caesar. No actual person could live up to the legend.
He is a driven man. A man of vision, some say. Also, he hates rude behavior in a man, won’t tolerate it. But he has an easy going side too, which can be seen from time to time in the movie.
That’s the thing with you yanks .... you’re Italian Americans, Irish Americans, African Americans, German Americans etc etc. In Australia..... we’re..... Australian
It was not determined definitively by law that Mexican-Americans were even covered by the 14th amendment and therefore citizens until a Supreme Court ruling in 1954.
@@jimhere1 There's no such thing as "stolen land" between nations. Land changes hands between nations by being conquered. ...And there's not an inch of dirt on the planet, besides Antarctica, that hasn't been conquered and reconquered. You get to keep what you're strong enough to hold, right up until you can't hold it anymore.
No, that doesn’t offend anyone from the “alphabet “ group as long as they are made to feel like they are included in the “I’m ‘merican” and not excluded by “MAGA”. That simple.
