Big thanks to Nacon for today's sponsor - if you're interested in the game, check out Transport Fever 2: Console Edition, here: bit.ly/3YV4rOK Hope you enjoy :)
When the announcer mentions "Watch out you don't cross paths with the Cartwrights from the ponderosa" is a reference to the old western TV show Bonanza.
The first time I ever played Simcity was on the Super Nintendo in 1992. That was the only time I ever wanted to play a game like this with a controller. Games like this are meant for a mouse and keyboard.
Became a fan when I moved to Spain to teach english and had no mates. Love the videos and nice that another male teacher really struggled with younger groups lol
technically, if that train is long enough, it will flip, and the front end will then be basically at the other station instantly right? you could invent teleportation in 1866 with longboi traino.
Wow the first level started in Virginia City and I thought it was a fun coincidence, but once I saw Carson City and Reno my eyes almost left my skull! That's so cool, seeing my hometown in such a game! O_O
If anyone has played Locomotion, I'm curious if you thought this game was a modern equivalent, since I'd played it as a kid and am curious of a similar scope game and if this one fits that bill
A.A. love your videos, this game is funny because I actually live in Montana and go to Virginia city every other summer. In today's day in age not the 1800's though, but in today's day in age VC has one paved road and maybe a dozen houses. cool to see places I grew up in video games though, in the 1800's though, not in today's day in age.
I just grabbed this game and sale and was pleased to see you doing a video on it. Having a blast, would love to see more of your takes on it. If you haven't seen the mods available, you can basically play it AS a city builder if that's more your thing. I found a group that made a ton of Soviet vehicles and buildings, only downside for the buildings and decorations is that you have to manually place them down yourself. I'd give it a look.
Great video! I always love learning something new from your content. Did you know that serotonin is produced in the raphe nuclei of the midbrain? It's fascinating how the brain works! Keep up the awesome work, looking forward to your next video.
"It's a logistics game" idk AA.. "Also cannibalism" REV UP THOSE FRYERS 7:40 Holy shit, PepperBeef2Spicy? The pro fighting game player? What an interesting genre mixing happenstance.
Oh no, please do correct those kids lol. It may seem harmless. It may seem like someone will correct them eventually, if not you. But the sheer number of words I've had to correct my S.O. on by 28 years old now (which she appreciates, it's not just me being a pedant) is astounding. She grew up with a 3/4 deaf father who pronounces.. well, almost everything wrong. A lot of that transferred onto her, and nobody ever corrected her. When I would correct her, she'd immediately just fill with frustration and embarrassment for how many times she probably sounded like an idiot. Some noteworthy examples Salmon (SAUL-mun) Evolution (El-uh-vo-looshun) Album (al-vum)
@@amandak.4246 Keep on keeping on. Don't protect their fragile egos. It's better for someone to feel like an idiot for a moment than to be an idiot for life.
not sure if u ever tried it but Workers n Resources Soviet Republic is bar none my fave sim city/ Logistic game it can be slow paced but its a very well thought out and setup game
You finally went and did it. You made me redownload OpenTTD. Absolutely forced my hand. Don't be surprised when I come after you for damages when I inevitably wreck my life with this game again. In all seriousness, it would be cool to see you try OpenTTD, which the original version pretty much spawned games like this. The newer iterations like this game are pretty, but they lose so much depth and scale to make it still playable. The maps are immense, like somebody recreated the entire map from Fallout 1/2/tactics in one.
Pro tip (as in literally, I'm a professional psychologist), don't make spouting off about serotonin a habit like CallMeKevin does. You guys are referring to the pleasure spikes and motivators built into the gameplay systems. This is governed by dopamine, not serotonin. Serotonin is more about mood regulation, among other things.
The random side quests remind me of Black & White, there's just stuff happening on the map that you don't _have_ to interact with, but it's fun there for you to find. The horse drawn carts could have been called trucks, a 'truck' is actually a wheel, I think I've only heard it used that way in reference to skateboarding though. AA, idk how to tell you this, but philosophize is the verb form of philosophy. -ize is from the denominalization suffix from ancient greek [philos-sophia-izo]. Philosophied uses the germanic verb declination on the noun philosophy, philosophized uses the germanic verb declination on the verb philosophize. (Also philosophize has been the prominent usage for at least 400 years, potentially always, so at this point even prescriptively it's the word of choice.)
