This song is about prohibition days in the US...at least what a couple of British guys think prohibition was in the US. It was written by Allen Clarke and Roger Cook. The song was recorded to get some of the John Fogerty and Creedence Clearwater sound. They were successful enough that John Fogerty sued them because the song sounded like him. The lawsuit was settled out of court so Fogerty must have made a bunch!! It was released as a single in April 1972 and climbed up to number 2 on the BillBoard Hot100 in September of 1972.
Frank on vocals with John is playing my 1994 Gibson Hummingbird, Gordon on drums and me playing my sweet 1997 Bourgeois Country Boy (Ricky Skaggs Signature Model).
