Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) hosted visiting scientist Dr Nicola Dallabetta from Fondazione Edmond Mach, Italy. In this video Dr Dallabetta demonstrates the long cut pruning method for apples in the Huon Valley of Tasmania.
all stub renewal stubs I come across a year later are not producing renewal but are bringing in branch infections, but if I cut the stubs off to the traditional semi flush cuts they then renew shoots for new branches. its the pruning the tree to shape so that there are not too many branches blocking light to the middle and lower tree that keeps the tree in a healthy regrowth of branches. I hope those that leave such sharp stubs would be the same people that get their arms scratched and jaded during picking season. "Europe elite stamp"
